  1. I think my BBS Solitudes could do with a good refurb. Has anyone used this company in Basingstoke? http://www.myalloys.co.uk/index.html I'm not an expert but they seem to do all the right things.
  2. Would be good to see this, if allowed. In any case who was the writer? If they still own a Corrado they might be a member of the forum.
  3. Of course it's yes and I'm looking forward to the re-build thread already  .
  4. Those bolsters look magnificent. In regards to colour match at furniture clinic did they advise what the closest match was or did you guestimate from their colour chart. I reckon it's CR10/11 or 12. I'm not hedging my bets at all  . http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Standa ... _Chart.htm
  5. Fully agree with Jim. Took the Halfords cover off today and was most impressed to still have a dry and shiny car. The Storm had a nice shake down drive along the A329M and a quick trip to the shops before heading back, parking up and getting the cover on just before the rain started. Phew! :)
  6. I'll let you know tomorrow. I've used my Halfords one all week for the first time (a medium breathable one priced at £64.99 and comes with straps). Tomorrow I will be unveiling the Storm and then assess the outcome.
  7. Not sure if colour will affect an insurance valuation that much. For my 10p worth I would like the following Corrados; 1. Classic Green Storm 2. Blackberry VR6 3. Nugget G60 4. Silver 16v 5. Ice violet 8v Obviously own no.1 and always hanker after no.2 or no.3 but I think I need all my luck just to keep one 'rado on the road. :)
  8. You are a magician  . Some seriously good work there.
  9. Cool - look forward to seeing your gems  . I recall it took quite an effort to open the drivers door if you were on the steep part of the bank - had to get your legs out as well, otherwise you were likely to have a hefty bruise.
  10. I think KIP means 2011 as this year (2010) it's going to be oop north. Hopefully another loft visit this weekend may uncover some more gems. I was at Brooklands in 1996 with the 1.8v Ink Blue and I think those photos were taken in front of the main(?) Brooklands building.
  11. Sorry - I didn't realise the number plates can't be seen. Anyway in the photo are P23 UAP, L393 MOO, M611 JNH, J537 CUG, 976 AWA, N39 OEW, M862 ONP of the ones I can make out. I'm still trying to find photos of meets at Gaydon and also ones from 1996 when I had the 16v. Loft is too cold tonight to go up again.
  12. Here's a photo I found in the loft of a Corrado meeting at Brooklands Museum in Summer 1997. My old Blackberry VR6 L678 VRL is closest to the camera, just in front is a P reg Storm - this must have been languishing at a VW dealer for close on 12 months before being registered in August 1996. Does anyone recognise their current or old cars?Corrado0002.jpg[/attachment:3hgldqm0]
  13. I was in the loft at the weekend and what did I find? Some old photos of the Blackberry VR6. Here's one from a Corrado meet back in summer 1997 at Brooklands.Corrado0001.jpg[/attachment:30wq82kw] I believe this car is still going strong - pretty good considering when I part-ex'd in 1999 it had already done 70,000 miles.
  14. I'm a tad confused  . You say you need to consider family and so unless you have children under 7 I'd say a TT is no use. I run a Mk2 TT and had to buy my Corrado as a sensible second car  Getting back on topic I quite like the choice of an A3 3.2 - you'd need factor in poor fuel economy and hopefully you have an independent garage to service it etc as you don't want to pay main Audi dealer labour prices. Alternatively with £7k you might want to look at Seat Leon Cupras as I don't think Mk5 Golf Gti's are down that low just yet.
  15. Oh well it's been a week since I sent the letter (first class so it must have arrived and I had done some google research and name and address were up to date) and option 1 is the winner - a great big fat nothing. :( The guy might be on a skiing holiday but I doubt it. Shame really as he did own it for close on 10 years from new and I've got a massive file of receipts, tax discs, MOT's etc. I guess the last few bills of £700 or so made him quickly fall out of love with it.
  16. A related question so don't wish to start a new thread. I'm in the same position - want a professional restoration job done. Have found this nearby company and I am going to ask for a quote. They're based in Slough. http://www.leatherbys.co.uk/cars.html However I reckon I will be paying Rolls-Royce prices. I only need 2 front cream leather seats done. Has anyone had this type of work done - if so what's a reasonable price to pay.
  17. Wow R8 leather - that's going to see you back a few pennies :norty: . Applaud your dedication - this should be some car when finished.
  18. Thanks Jake - I always like instructions as it prevents me from doing things wrong as I'm no handyman 8) .
  19. It's probably going up in value now too. Reminds me that my first car was an E-reg Ford Fiesta 1.1L with a choke - what was that all about? I presume the Nova has a choke too.
  20. I went ahead with a weird New Year's resolution today, namely to send a letter plus photo of car to the first registered owner who owned my C for the first 10 years. I'm the 3rd owner so don't know him. Now this can go one of 3 ways - 1) He'll ignore it, 2) He'll get in touch and offer to buy the C back (I'll say no unless he wants to offer what he paid back in 1995 :norty: ), 3) He'll drop an e-mail to say thanks. Place your bets now! Anyone else ever done this and what was the result?
  21. I'm no.333. Probably 50:50 tbh as I'm at Depeche Mode the night before at the O2. If going I'll be "Behind the Wheel".
  22. Welcome to Corrado ownership and of course Storm ownership 8) . Hopefully getting it road legal won't be too pricey.
  23. While the missus is hooked on Glee and the Golden Globes I've been on Google. Found this interesting article from the US http://www.motivemag.com/pub/feature/re ... rado.shtml The gallery section is good too - anyone for a Corrado convertible?
  24. My VR6 is standard, I think its prob down to age (26) and area (Middlesex/Surrey) I think it's definitely to do with age plus where you keep the car (garage vs off road parking vs on-street). I ran a VR6 when I was 26 back in 1997 - oh those were the days  . It was expensive back then too!
  25. I was happy to pay just under £4k for mine last June with 137k on the clock, 2 owners from new, FSH plus all tax discs, MOT's and most invoices since the year built 1995. Bodywork was near mint along with clean interior. Don't ask how much I've spent since then
