  1. Me too - first time out in the C since Jan 1st. Quick blast down the A329M to blow away the cobwebs - lovely 8) . Parked up again now for the week, no longer in the garage but outside wrapped in my new Halfords all-weather car cover. With a mixed bag of weather due this week we'll see if that all-weather description is correct.
  2. Swompy - thanks for putting in the order and glad you over-ordered. I expect you'll get many more orders. I think the standard look maybe for 2 stickers - one in each rear side window. Hence when you PM folk I might push the boat out and double my order to 2. I like treating myself once in a while.
  3. I've never seen a car with a beige dash - now that would be overkill. Obviously factory standard (for me) was cream leather and beige carpets which looks fine. I do have black OE carpet mats and they look fine. I know someone with a silver Boxster and they have the extended leather pack. Hence it's red seats, red dash, red steering wheel and red roof - looks awful. What a way to spoil a £40k car
  4. You've got to be careful with car covers after a respray. My Halfords one says you shouldn't put it over a car resprayed within the last 3 months. Probably something to do with paint hardening or else they don't want to get sued.
  5. I need to see the front but I think this maybe the Mk2 big bumper Corrado Karmann never built.
  6. The Mk2 Golf 16v in Oak Green was the car I never got. After uni I drove around for 4 years in a Fiesta 1.1L and saved up enough cash for something good from the VW stable. A 16v Ink Blue Corrado happened to be on sale at Deepdene Dorking and the rest as they say is history. :)
  7. I prefer this to the Scirrocco - still not sure it will get me out of my TT. Had considered an A5 in the past but it's the size of a whale.
  8. Best winter video yet  . What muppets for ejecting. I wonder how it all ended?
  9. Doesn't surprise me one bit. Most beemers and mercs with rear wheel drive are having a complete 'mare at present. I'd say the Corrado with a 2.9 litre lump over the front axle is just about the best FWD in the snow. 8) After my C saved me from a night in the John Lewis bed department before Xmas she's now taking it easy in the garage. Instead the TT in Ice Silver is in camouflage mode outside.
  10. It will do - parked up in my garage with 12 inches of snow outside right now. I'm no DIY expert so left it all to the good folks at DG Autotech.
  11. I've had the 288 mm brake upgrade and here's a picture to prove it. I had original VW discs but went for EBC red stuff brake pads. Calipers are painted black. Obviously still bedding in and not exactly the weather to go gung-ho but already feel more confident when braking.IMG_4086.JPG[/attachment:g2f53ugg]
  12. It was good reading this thread but I think your Storm does deserve it's own members gallery page. It was certainly looking v.shiny at the Maidenhead gathering a few months back. Anyway in regards to the 8v looking forward to seeing how you get on - good luck.
  13. On my law abiding trip down the M23 to see the folks in Sussex I noticed a Golf R32 (Mk V) in use as an unmarked cop car. It had pulled over an Octavia. Do any other forces use hot VW's?
  14. Mine were fitted on Monday and they've made such a great difference - recommend these to everyone.
  15. It's all an unknown until he starts testing in the 2010 car from 1st Feb. I think he'll whip Rosberg and be the best of the silver arrows. With no refuelling in 2010 it will be brand new experience for all of them. As out and out racers you'd say Schumi will be up there with Hamilton and Alonso but may all rest on what cars they get. The 2009 Ferrari was a dog and I suspect Schumi was quite glad his neck was still a tad too stiff for him to take Massa's seat.
  16. Mine was waiting for me on Monday after my epic journey to yours and back - probably the least spooky thing that happened to me that day. Hope 2010 goes well and there's still a few big jobs left for me to do, funds permitting.
  17. Indeed - I was going to start a thread called Karmann Cayman. They should just sell them in red, gold and green - the colours were like my dreams.
  18. I've seen the Tiff vid before but not the Probe versus Calibra/Corrado/Prelude. Some good Clarkson lines about the Corrado being a £20k Ferrari and having the same kick as an expresso shot. Now if someone can uncover the Top Gear vid where they sent the last Corrado back to the VW Museum in Wolfsburg that would make my Xmas :D
  19. Having owned my latest C for 6 months I think it's time I put together a little tool-kit. Now I'm not going to mess around with the engine, brakes, suspension etc - I'll leave that to the experts. More it's a case of having the right tools for small-ish jobs - interior trim, dashboard, headlights etc. I've got the usual stuff - screwdrivers etc but is there a particular socket set that's worth getting. Any other tools that people think are must haves?
  20. I prefer standard but then I'm rubbish at DIY  Mind you as others have said I do like to see the decent custom jobs. My only issue is that the Corrado never had one last upgrade by VW in the mid/late 90's. It would've been good to get a Mk4 Golf style fit and finish inside which would still look modern today.
  21. Happy Christmas - Corrado was looking festive today. 288 mm brakes getting fitted on Monday - I went for black calipers.
  22. Well I finally got the tree yesterday. I would've got it sooner but got sent at short notice to work in Rio for 2 weeks. No Corrados in Brazil but quite a few veedubs - I think they still make camper vans over there. Anyway please see proof of the tree - it was a Nordman fir no drop needle. I only had to pick up 4 pine needles which was a result 8)
  23. Here's something a little festive. This is the first Xmas I will be getting to a garden centre in a Corrado instead of a TT. Hence in the past I've stuck to a 3-4 ft potted tree. With the increased space offered by the C what size will be possible this year - aim is to close the boot and not have one hanging out the back.
  24. Infact I was probably paranoid :pale: - more a case of a very wet November, car left outside more than in the garage plus rubber front mats. Put it in the garage this week, had a fan heater inside for a bit which worked pretty well. Now it's just cold plus I have some new VW carpet mats so condensation underneath rubber mats won't be an issue.
