chubbybrown replied to NickVR6's topic in Engine Bay
Water pump is about £50 It took me about 3 hours and I know guys can do it in an hour and a half but its not rocket science to do it. Is it a VR6 or a valver ? -

Aaaaannndd this is why our insurance is high.
chubbybrown replied to Blown's topic in General Car Chat
I couldnt afford insurance for the car I wanted,so I got a job in a garage cleaning them and it was great having the directors cossie off the ground depicting ari vatennan ? anyway lived and learnt. Now Im 36 and still cant afford it but just pay it anyway got the 16 valver done for £270 and renewal is next month :-( -

Yep. showing 55k now though. shes does 9 thousand miles in about 20 months

I bought a 89 G plated Corrado that had been serviced every 2,000 miles by a Vw dealer,it happened to be a directors wifes car, who else could have afforded that ! We service ours every 6 months regardless of milage, because I would say less miles and town driving increases wear and tear on some parts, so I feel Im not over servicing the car just protecting the investment. its 15 years old has F.V.W.S.H but what does it mean in the real world... Probably not much. Chubbz Makes me wonder how some cars need a service every 30k,I cant comprehend these longlife oil drains
-
erm... everything except the passenger door, bonnet and fuel cap? Theres about 30 on autotrader including a few Gt's :-) http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/ca ... ull=SEARCH

Brov had one, very quick and swopped it for a Vectra SRI that he instantly regretted

Just get Kit from C+R and say its a mk2-mk4 conversion kit you require. some handbrake cables need modding but nothing that cant be done yourself. some people have been known to get 2nd hand calipers and use brake lines that come with it. I have done upgrade (not myself)and the handbrake is in a different planet always solid and tense. The Brakes dont feel any better but just wont stick again (hopefully) Calipers new are about £65 Plus vat from dealer if you haggle and the dealer up here didnt want an exchange.so you can refit if you sell on :-D

Dont turn off the traction control as they reckon thats all that keeps them on thier feet if you go thru the twisties

Nothing personal to Rover but I'd rather your car Andy

Were they Escort vehicles if they were they are just civvies. If they have Vosa written all over them they have limited powers to stop trucks :-) they guys are the old tyre tappers http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/aboutvosa/aboutvosa.htm

I cant fault the 75 series of cars and its Bmw engines. Other models have thier faults but what doesnt, I would buy a no warranty car as long as you know the characteristics of the vehicle. Bottom Line,it was sold to BMW for a £1 and they took what they wanted and sold the rest to the managers,Ironic it was called PhoeniX As for maggie, she Stole my Milk. I saw a nice bit of kids tv the other night where some kid was slating maggie and asking where she would be in a nuclear war*lol* The thatcher Years turned everybody into a 'I'm olright jack attitude' and it still goes today. Personally I mourned The Death of ERF the last British truck maker, spookily now owned by Germans as well and Built in Poland I think. Sandbach as far as I know just shifts parts and Assemble ? Anyway I asked the Boss For a new ERF rather than a DAF because as crap as they are they are viable, cheaper, better warranty and hopefully will last as long as my Last ERF.but if it helps keep some Brits in work,so be it. If You buy trucks to pose your in the wrong game.

Sadly I wish this was true, we had to sign a contract that said any 5 days out of 7 one boy is religeous and never worked it until he was told he would be making himself redundant if he didnt..the gits anymore for anymore ? They cant force you to work in a shop on a sunday but only shop workers are protected :-(
