  1. I don't think the leather Corrado Recaros have anything written on them... Nive find Andy! That makes it 3 C's in the UK that I know of with that interior... 8) Cool, have you got them in yor C? They are almost mint, no bolster wear or marks at all, just need a clean, the passenger seat 'height adjust' won't go down (is at highest point) but I think its just the switch because when pressed up it 'tries' to move up but when pressed down there is no click or load on the battery. Will post some pics soon. jboyslick looks like you've got a bargain there, that leather looks immaculate! Are you sure you need a mirror motor? it may just be the that copper contacts in the adjustment switch need cleaning up and re-greasing.
  2. Thanks for the help but I've just got home and realised its actually a Cobra system, doh! I will do a search on Cobra cheers
  3. Recently bought a VR6 thats fitted with, from memory, a Cobra Nu1 Alarm/immobiliser. It was turned off when I bought it via the key on the main alarm unit, the seller said that the key fob battery needed replacing. I replaced the alarm fob battery, but when I switch the alarm unit on, the siren sounds continuously and I cant turn it off with the fob, the fob does nothing. I have tried disconnecting the battery for a moment then trying again, but to no avail. Is there a simple reset method for this, or do I have a problem with the remote fob or the alarm system itself? I think its the original alarm fitted back in 1993. Can anyone recommend a good alarm fitter/repairer in the manchester area? Thanks for any help,
  4. You lucky git ! how much did you pay for the car if you dont mind me asking? i've just bought a vr6 with electrically adjustable recaro's in the 'isometric' black cloth, they are not heated though, will post some pics soon...
  5. The problem is now sorted - it did turn out to be the cambelt tensioner, so we put a new belt & tensioner on at the same time. Cheers lads!

    Spacers - G60

Quite a while ago when I got mine, cant really remember how long it took..... but one thing's for sure they are frigging too expensive!!! wouldnt 10mm been ok????

    Spacers - G60

Eurrggh GSF/Euro's spacers are crap, wouldnt risk using anything more than 3mm!! Blue Joe did you know that FK do hubcentric spacers in 15mm, possibly even thinner, they do lots of different sizes. I got my 15mm ones from the 'Performance Driven' website
  9. cheers, is it on the fusebox or on a loom? cant see anything at all just lots of wires. Have checked all visible fuses, all intact. Does anything else run off you e/mirror fuse?
  10. I cannot see any extra fuses above the fusebox at all, just relays and a few unused loom connections, any ideas? Yash, how big is this fuse and what model/year is your C? I cant find my Owners manual since I moved house either - it probably shows it in there! cheers
  11. hmm maybe it was black then - I've definately lost power to the mirror switch anyway thanks I will try looking above the fuse panel again
  12. I've lost power to my electric mirror loom (probably fused it while faffin about trying to get late spec switch working on early spec car) i've checked all the normal fuses (1-21?) behind the dash trim and they are all ok, but I'm definately not getting power to the brown wire in the E/M loom. is there an auxilary fuse panel somewhere? I borrowed a live feed from the Electric Windows and the mirror motors are still working ok.
  13. Been offered a brand new larger g60 radiator which was for g60's with air con - its about 700mm long. Would it be a worthwhile upgrade to the standard radiator considering my car is around 190bhp, and has anyone had a go at this mod? Just wondering how easy/difficult it would be to mount, whether it would need a different fan & shroud, longer pipes etc ??? any ideas? Or should I just but a new std. rad? Cheers
  14. Cheers guys, I'd not thought about the cam belt tensioner. Belt & tensioner looked ok 12 months ago, but last belt change was done at 50k (40k ago), probably best to get both tensioner & belt replaced at same time then. If it turns out to be that i'm quite happy!
  15. On Cold mornings my G60 whines in first and second for the first few minutes driving, usually as the revs get to about 2k rpm. If I clutch the noise goes, but then if i rev it in neutral it still whines, albeit alot quiter. The noise is like an electric whirr/whine, and it didn't occur last winter. After fiv minutes the noise goes Car has done 90k miles, charger was rebuilt 25k miles ago by Jabbasport. Should I be worried, could it be the charger or is it first signs of needing a gearbox rebuild? Cheers
  16. lol, I wish, its never had more than the occasional damp dusting and vaccing out. Suppose thats the beauty of photographs, sometimes things look better than they really are! Oh the leather handbrake gaitor is by Richbrook and makes great replacement for the original trim piece that usually breaks!
  17. Hi Did you get round the problem because I have the same problem fitting late EM switch to my early C. My old switch had 6 wires going to it, but the new one has 8 connections on the plug (2 extra for the illumination). I thought it would be a case of indentifying which wires are for the illumination and then working out which connections match the existing wiring loom - but the circuitry of the new switch seems to work totally differently from the old one and I'm wondering if the looms are different too? Its hard to explain but its not a straight forward circuit - has anyone figured it out? All I know for sure so far is that connectors 4 & 7 are for the illumination! Suppose I could try every poosible combination at risk of blowing fuses and maybe worse?!? maybe if someone with a late C could tell me what colours their wires are and the corresponding connector numbers (embossed in tiny figures on the connector plug) Cheers!
  18. I am putting my tweeters In my door cards as we speak, along with Audioscape speaker enclosures. I did this in my last car (mk2 gti) and it worked very well. I'm using flush-angle mount holders that came with the tweeters, in the EW switch position (on early door cards) pointing up towards head/ear level, should look very neat. i'll post some pics when they're done.
  19. lubricate the locking cylinder's for the boot lock & petrol flap, they seem to get a bit stiff, could be making it slower than normal.
  20. never heard of that before, my g60 had a crap change when I first got it, changed the oil to redline MT90 and it is very sweet now
  21. Just thought it was worth mentioning that mk2 Golf 15's BBS Alloys (RA's I think) fit ok over G60 front brakes with half worn brake pads, but will foul the calipers once the 'thicker' new pads are in place  The wheels will not even locate on the hub. I used to use them as my winter wheels, glad I was at home when I discovered this! :)
  22. Well, jacked up the front of the car last weekend and checked the springs - all looks ok, made sure they were seating perfectly, but the knock stll occurs :( it seems to be getting louder, but less frequent? Will check the subframe bolts next. I think this started happening when I took of my 16" alloys with 195 tyres and put on some slightly wider 15's with crappy 205 tyres - the steering is noticably heavier with these on, could it be related to this?
  23. Good idea, i will check the coil spring. my lowering springs are only a 40mm drop but they are not under much compression when the car is jacked up, maybe its dislocated like you say I hope so ! cheers
  24. This started about a month ago, when parking or 3-point turning, I feel & hear a loud knock/bang in the suspension/steering. It only happens on when turning the wheel right, between half & full lock. It usually occurs first thing in the morning when turning right into my road, then it is fine when driving, then happens again when parking. kinda feels like something sticking then releasing, or alot of play being taken up! when I bought the car 12 months ago all my suspension/steering was checked over by a very competent vw specialist, they found no problems or wear at all at 82k (ive done 10k since then) Any idea's what it could be? the car handles fine, just as it was before this started happening. Cheers
