Yeah the yellow shocks are the Sprintline kit - Expensive! Eibach pro-kit springs(30mm) are designed to be used with standard shocks(says so on their website) - must use good quality ones though, e.g. Bilstein 'GAS'. Bilstein part number is usually VNE**** for those type of OE shocks. cheers

Boge 40mm Springs are excellent with Bilstein gas shocks for a good compromise between ride and handling..... same or better handling than standard with good ride quality. Only problem is that the rear springs only drop it by about 20mm, so i'm using 30mm Pro-kit Eibach springs on the rear instead......Works great Bilstein GAS shocks are just excellent!

68mm..... lol what does it sound like with a 58mm pulley? must be some whirr! I once worked out the rotational speed with a 68mm pulley as opposed to standard... think it was about 15% faster? 8)

So does the ECU detect & store engine related faults, and is it just a matter of finding the right system to connect it to? I suppose you can't use the diode/test lamp setup to count the flashes?? cheers
-
Does the G60 ECU output fault codes for just the ABS, or Fuel / Ignition faults aswell? I've had the codes read on a VAG1551 at my garage but they weren't sure either - the only fault codes displayed were ABS related. It's a 1992 model, Cheers

I think the hexagon key needed is 17 or 19mm, probably best to check before you buy one. You could always drop the old oil and put some cheapish gearbox oil in, run it for a few miles then drain again and fill with MT90.... wish i'd done that now :? I must admit my gearbox feels quite stiff with MT90 in when its quite cold..... but its ace when warmed up :) Only strange thing I get is a slight synchro grate when down changing into third, after coming off the motorway when the car has just about warmed up. It only happens once, then i'ts fine for the rest of the journey???

Sure mate - GPC advertise in the Golf/VW mags etc. and their web address is - http://www.gpcvwaudi.com yeah ECP/GSF usually have alot more parts than they list on the web or put in the catalogues - Give em a call. 8)

Totally standard Red 16v/G60 on Councillor lane, Cheadle, about 1.30 friday afternoon.. I flashed but the driver didn't notice, he looked happy driving it tho!
-
Try GPC, they list the most common parts on their website but they can supply almost any genuine part for alot less than the stealers. Might be worth checking with Euro Car Parts & GSF too....

Somebody must of done this! I dont want to paint the plastic seal, will it come off?
-
Cheers, I see what you mean now
-
I need to dismantle them for painting - Do the mechanisms come out of the plastic outer? The plastic seal/packing seems to be held in at one end by the mechanism - Will it come out? There doesnt seem to be any screws holding the mech in place??? I Assume the locking barrel will come out by removing the lock washer, and i'll have to drill out the pin holding the two halves of the door handles together.... Any tips most appreciated! cheers
-
I'm confused - When you say mechs do you mean the mech in the door or the mech inside the handle? cheers
-
What width did you go for? the 115mm one or the bigger one?
-
Jack the car up and you should see the part number stamped on the rack. I don't know what the difference in part numbers is, might be worth giving the stealer a call to see what part number they come up with. I checked again, VR6 part numbers are the same for 1990, 1994 & 95. Theres also a part number for a set of rack seals - 1H0 498 020 A (16v/VR6) cheers
-
What the feck are those seatbelts all about ????
-
Had a look on Etka - It lists 2 racks (models not specified) and 3 other racks labelled 'VR6' 192 422 061 P .... Up to 1992 (upto chassis 50-N-011487) 192 422 061 K .... 1992 Onwards (Chassis 50-N-011488 onwards) 1H2 422 061 A .... 'VR6' #1H2 422 061 AX .... 'VR6' #1H2 422 061 AV .... 'VR6' So its looks like they're not compatible. Maybe your 2.0 16v rack is the 1992 onwards one? PAS pumps are different numbers for The KR, PG, 9A and VR6 engines, too many to list. The VR6 has a different pulley spacing so won't fit other models.
-
They're not, its a different part number. I think the VR might share the same rack and pump as some mk3 golf/pasat/vento though.
-
Yeah but most of them are just hot water under pressure, not dry steam, which will cause havoc if it gets into the electrics. There's no substute for solid graft and doing it properly IMHO ;)

Very nice met blue (I think) Corrado on Washway Road, Altrincham, nice rims, had just pulled out of the Halfords car park, I was sat in traffic going the other way in my Red C. About two weeks ago, maybe a wed night, rushhour traffic, we both let on, is all I can remember!

power steering leaks can fail MOT, as I found out in my last car! The fluid tends to end up in the wishbone bushes too which can't do them any good... Looking back at the receipts, my C G60 had the rack replaced at 55k because of play in the rack - its got a GSF rack on it now. And yes, I leaks a bit but is quite slow. My local VW specialist doesnt rate recon racks either, because they soon leak.

I use Autoglym engine bay cleaner, its citrus based so doesn't rot the rubber hoses, paintwork or your hands, its bloody powerful too! Use some plastic or brass bristled brushes to get the stubborn stuff off. All depends on how long you want to spend doing it really! I'd cover the ECU, Dizzy Cap & Alarm, and just use the hose with a nice flow, not blasting out! When its dry I just use a light rub of rubber/plastic protector on the hoses and some of the plastic to keep them looking nice :)

Forgot to mention, Genuine slave cylinders have gone down to £34.50 + vat at GSF :)

Check out http://www.audioscape.co.uk They say they are matched to the speaker enclosures...... can't see them selling average speakers with quality enclosures!
-
Can't see there being any problems, they're not a huge enclosure. Can't you rip the kneebars out? I would! From what i've heard cars in the US don't even have to go through an MOT test !
