  1. It is damage but I doubt it would be classed as criminal damage. They mistakenly believed it was property they had permission to remove. I'm absolutely not denying they were a bunch of muppets, were probably negligent and that compensation is due and should be awarded in a civil court. But this would not get very far in a criminal court.
  2. There is a bronze Corrado in the May edition of Performance VW.
  3. Which is all very true but unfortunately if it was a genuine mistake and the car has been returned then no actual crime has been committed and it is a civil matter. They absolutely will be liable for any damage or loss that can be proved but it would be a matter to be followed up through the small claims court (which is actually quite easy to do).
  4. Glad its back but incredible that they took it without any checks. Definitely take them to court for every penny it cost you, from fixing the handbrake cable (at a garage), to any bus or taxi costs while your car was unavailable. Check the car over meticulously for damage to wheels and bodywork etc.
  5. Once again a good venue and an enjoyable day even though it was, strictly speaking, meant to be a meeting. It's the people that make it an enjoyable time. In the three hour round trip there and back I hardly saw any interesting cars on the motorway apart from a couple of Astons. Aside from a few old bangers there were very few interesting cars over 10 years old on the drive up there. It seems like people throw older cars away which is such a shame but also makes the Corrado such a nice thing to own. But on the way back a bright blue Lamborghini shot past with a number plate of 4321 GO which did bring quite a smile to my face (432LGO?). It wasn't the largest attendance this year but it did seem that the people attending were very passionate about the club and of Corrados. I'd also like to say thanks to the committee for all the events they ran last year and no doubt will do this year. It's a thankless task and one which is very much appreciated. The corrado scene would not be the same without all of your efforts. One last pleasant surprise was to see the new owner of craigowls green storm. I recognised it in the car park as soon as I saw the rear bumper (reversing sensor covers - I considered his car at one point so had seen lots of close up pics he emailed me). It seems that the buyer last year sold it on again only a few months ago to the present owner who wasn't aware of its forum history (sorry didn't catch your name - lived near Cambridge I think?) and it's really nice to see a forum car back with someone who appears to be an enthusiast. For the benefit of the current owner... craigowls for sale thread last year: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=81465&highlight=craigowl craigowls owners thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=16636&highlight=craigowl and that bodyshop I highly recommended in Epping: http://www.shiltonaccidentrepair.co.uk (Even though I moved areas a long time ago I still travel from Surrey to Essex to use them whenever I need some work done as I have used them for years and found their work to be excellent and much higher quality than the suspect bodyshops that VW themselves use)
  6. I'll have to have the kids in tow but I'm still coming too
  7. [h=4]There are some lovely cars on there. I like this one: 1967 Jaguar E Type 2+2 LOT 92[/h]Believed, but not yet confirmed, to be the 1967 Earls Court Motor Show car, this 2 owner 39,000 mile 2+2 was originally purchased by a countryside vet who fitted the roof rack in order to facilitate the removal of dead sheep whilst on his rounds. The vendor, who has owned the car since 1978 describes the car as a very original example that requires restoration. Complete with original Jaguar tool kit in roll, Jack, Jaguar E-Type operating maintenance and service handbook, Original Jaguar sales and service facilities booklet, Original service book showing 9 services to 1976, original Jaguar passport service book, original routine maintenance chart, original green RF60 log book and older style V5 confirming the 2 owners. Last taxed and MoT'd in in 1985 at 38,748 miles.
  8. Finally replaced the missing wheel cap that got pinched last year. Actually just replaced all four of them with Chinese copies. Would have preferred original BBS but couldn't find any and it would probably only get taken again.
  9. I'm pretty sure they arent. I changed all three of mine a couple if years ago and I'm sure they were different.
  10. It could be someone you have bought from in the recent past has got your name mixed up when selling something else. Or a scam I've seen attempted before is to use identity theft to buy a phone and contract in your name. It is delivered to your door and either before or after someone turns up on your doorstep saying it is their phone and they accidentally gave the wrong house number so could they have it back. It means you later get a bill either for the phone or for the contract. But that is normally done with new phones not used ones which presumably are sold without contract. The phone will be blocked soon if it is genuinely a mistake and trying to use it could look like receiving stolen goods. Personally I would hand it into the police. I think you get to keep it if unclaimed after a certain amount of time.
  11. I thought the 2.8 had less power than the 2.9 in OBD1 guise? e.g. 175ps in the mk3 compared to 190ps?
  12. Agree the VR6 sound is fantastic. I had to have one for that alone. Another way to look at it is this... The Seat is a newer car and you can always get one in a few years. The corrado is old now and the longer you leave it the harder it will be to find a decent one. Try a corrado now and the seat in the future.
  13. I don't even notice the lack of air con in mine now, except on the hottest of days. In almost every weather I love having the sunroof open. It would feel very odd to have modern technology in the Corrado as it's character doesn't suit it. But I do like tech in the family car.
  14. Thanks guys. Coullstar makes sense but this is planning for the future. Stealth and JMR are good shouts.
  15. Corrados break a lot and are not as good a track car as the seat. However you will look far, far cooler. In my opinion you now have to WANT a Corrado to buy one. Your life will be far easier with the Seat so you have to want a Corrado enough to put up with keeping a 20 year old car on the road. It's not as fast. It's not as reliable. It doesn't stop as well. It's hard to find replacement parts. If I had to decide again I'd still buy the Corrado for the happiness it gives me.
  16. Well that is indeed a barn find and gives an interesting second option! I'll have a think. Why did it come out of the car? Thanks.
  17. Sorry I'm a noob at this so a silly question... I have totally standard brakes. What else would I need to add these (e.g. larger discs I assume)?
  18. Agree with that. Arguably a mk1 Scirocco is more desirable due to rarity and age and that hasn't really taken off yet. So we have a long wait. Funnily though in my research for a possible mk1 TT I've found people on the TT forum starting to ask if that car will ever be a classic and when prices will start to stabilise. I think they have a long wait (but I do agree that car will certainly be a classic at some point).
