We'll never see another Corrado imho. The Scirocco is the sporty hatchback for VW and another model would impinge on it. Audi wouldn't use the Corrado name as it isn't part of their heritage. I guess it's because of the need to include a lot of safety features and also to allow for cost reduction by reusing parts from the rest of the range. They would both result in design compromises.

An interesting opportunity has arisen. A few months ago I got talking to an elderly gentleman at a local petrol station. He had a 1980's era Mercedes SL. I think it was the 280SL. It was in a very period gold/bronze with matching brown cloth interior. It was in great condition and when he made a throwaway comment about selling it I left him my number and thought no more of it. The provenance of the car is very good having been owned by his late wife for many, many years, coming from a fairly nice area and having only 2 or 3 owners I recall. Surprisingly he recently called me and asked if I would be interested in buying it. I am going to have a look at it at the weekend. Does anyone have any experience of these? I wasn't particularly looking for a car like this but my wife loves it and the general condition and provenance of the car is certainly worth a second look. I don't yet know what he wants for it and I haven't yet looked at the car beyond the glance at it before. This isn't the car but it is very similar: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mercedes-benz/280sl/mercedes-benz-280sl--1984/2232764 I doubt it would be a replacement for the Corrado so would be an additional car. But it just may have the potential to be a good investment while being something to enjoy on sunny days.

Quite surprised by the higher price of some recent cars. Pleasantly surprised though.

Corrado in the blood? Lovely car and gone to someone who will definitely appreciate it.
-
I love both. RS just nudge it for me but Nothelles look superb too.

Ahh nightmare. Hope they do a good job. Sadly these things happen occasionally.

I recently looked into 944's heavily and came to the conclusion that a 944 S2 would be a great car along with a late 944 turbo. But for rarity and to get the best of the line I would have gone for a 968. I postponed my decision due to my company announcing 25% redundancies although it looks like I just survived the first round so may start looking again soon. However be aware of how expensive front engines Porsche's are too service. They can be worse than 911's.

Quite surprised and sad to see you selling. But understandable after such a long time. I hope you have an easy sale. For anyone looking for a Corrado this really is one of the best.

Lovely :)

White Corrado spotted on a Discovery Turbo show called Fantom Works. I've never seen this programme before and it just happened to be on when I switched the TV on. It was about restoring a TR6 which in itself is a little unusual considering it's a US show. In the background in the garage was a white Corrado of some kind with a roof rack.

Very nice indeed. I was planning to come to this with my brother but unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute. Looks a good day.

I have both a Corrado VR6 and a mk6 Golf GTI with 211bhp. The GTI is much quicker because of the torque. They are different cars though. The Corrado has much more character and is far more fun to drive.

Welcome :)

Shocked to see this for sale but good luck with whatever has come up. Worth every penny.

Hmmm, strokes chin in a "I like that" kind of way.

Agree the price is not cheap but the seller can of course ask whatever they like for them. So probably best not to ruin a sellers thread. They will either sell or not. I was quite surprised when I got mine in 2011, before they were obsolete, quite how complex they are. I thought they would just be a strip of plastic but their manufacture looks quite involved.

Congrats :)

Insured it earlier this week and MOTd it today. It passed again :) Now on my way to collect it. Oh and had a brake fluid change as it was due. Always pay attention to the brakes on a car. Edit: No advisories :)

That's very much my opinion too. Personally I prefer a standard car with a few minor modifications but that's just personal preference on the way the Corrado looks. Within reason I'd rather enjoy the car than worry about its future value.

No. But congrats :)

I'll be there on Sunday. Not sure whether I'll have the kids. -
The spoiler should lower automatically but only when you are much, much slower. I can't remember what speed but something like 10 to 15mph. On a late UK car it should go up about 56mph
