Precisely what I'm thinking. You really should try and get this car into storage or something if you can till things sort themselves out Andy.
-
AMD were very well reputed back around the late 90's early 2000's for VW work, especially the Corrado - they used to know them inside out. Not sure if the same people still work there or they're still as good with them though. Haven't heard much said about them in ages!
-
I don't get it. Does the mileage put people off?! It's a storm with beige leather recaro's and a fastidious owner.. why is this still for sale?! It has to be one of the best ones on the market right now.
-
If Andy got this up on Pistonheads or something, I think it'd sell in moments.
-
Looks good - I can't see any sign there was ever a scratch. Good to know you can get good repair companies out there :)

Was only just talking about the stupid middle side trim with some friends the other week! The one that sits on the wing and the one that sits on the rear quarter always stays glossy black but the middle one seems to be a different material and always fades / goes grey! I don't see why satin blacking it wouldn't work! :)

I'm sorry that health issues are forcing a sale Andy. I can't tell you how much I want this car - would save me going through the hassle of getting mine sorted. I will give it some serious thought this evening.
-
If anyone local to me does want a test drive in mine at some point to see if they feel cams make a worthy difference, I'd be happy to oblige!

Corrado virgin, is the storm edition worth the extra premium?

Shame it's an auto! Have always loved those wheels on the Corrado though... -
Might be worth trying to sort out a Group Buy? Has been how they were sorted in the past. I know scarlet_vr6 is interested in a set after having a spin in my car the other week so you might be able to drum up enough interest to get 5 sets which would help on postage and presumably they'd do a discount :)

I'm not sure to be honest - I was just on what David said, but reading back he doesn't suggest it could cause any real damage. If the emissions are that low does it mean it's possibly running lean? Or am I just talking nonsense..
-
So pleased it passed Kip. Can't wait to see this at some shows again after it was so cruelly taken out of commission! As David says though worth getting those emissions figures looked at... you wouldn't want to cause damage to the engine now after all this work!

There have been several threads about this over the years - I just skimmed them all to find a definitive answer on what size plug and where to buy from but couldn't. This had some info on getting one from Halfords though... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?4950-Rear-Wiper-how-to-remove You also want to make sure you bung up the rear washer pipe - use a bolt or something to screw into it to stop it leaking all over the electronics in there, assuming they've not already been ruined by the previous owner not sealing up that hole in the boot! What a lemon! You might want to seal with a dab of silicone sealant too just to help make it water tight when you do it.

Coventry Festival of Motoring - 26/8/2012
Jim replied to Tempest's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Forget about this meet if you're into modified VW's. If however you've got a broad motoring interest and like classic cars, this is a great way to spend a day :) -
Fingers crossed for the MOT - let me know how it goes :) Those Lanzar Neo's are from the valver (I remember buying them) - think they're worth a few quid but I got them fairly cheap from an old forum member!

Phew that was a bad one :|

Car looked fantastic today Chris. Honestly don't think I've ever seen paint in such excellent condition with literally NO swirling or anything to be seen.

Elsecar Mega Meet + UK Rallye Golf Show 2012
Jim replied to macvwnut's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Just to echo Eric's sentiments - thanks so much for Kip and Judith for their super hospitality and good to meet a few new folks and some more usual suspects for food last night - a great evening :) In terms of organisation and stuff I liked the venue, and I liked that there were places to escape the noise and get well priced food and drinks. Shame there were very few trade stands (as seems to be a trend at shows these days). The show however just reminds me how far detached I feel from the VW scene in general.. without going into critical detail, I just don't "get it" :| Reminds me why I much prefer to take the Corrado along to more general "classic car" type shows with real enthusiasts and a varied amount of interesting cars, rather than trying to either keep up with the latest fashion or one-up peers with even more preposterous or expensive modifications. Ugh. -
Ah - to be fair you're probably more experienced than me then so I'm not in a position to lecture. Sorry! :) And sorry VR6Pete! :)

To be fair the standard 2.0 16v brakes don't stand up to punishment well and I do remember managing getting noticeable fade off my old ones on my first 16v (11 years ago - god I feel old!) after just one hard stop from speed... so it doesn't surprise me that they start to fail after 10 minutes of abuse. If the wheels spin freely when off the ground then that would probably rule out binding brakes. It's not usual for the discs to turn blue! Maybe investigate a brake fluid change first (cheapest option), maybe get the pads / discs inspected.. and maybe think about saving up for a 280mm conversion from a G60. Can normally be had cheap enough and are substantially stronger brakes than the 256's!

Wasn't keeping time! Just thrapped round and had a good time. Believe me trying to set times on your very first outing there is the wrong sort of mindset to take.. you really want to spend some time getting familiar with the place rather than just hitting it at maximum attack on lap 1!
