Hm... how does flash compare to tornado Roddy? Do they look pretty similar?
-
I suspect Flash Red will be quite similar to Tornado Red.. there is a Corrado for sale on the UK eBay over here in that colour, the link to which is here - I personally like the colour... seen a few C's over here in that colour, and it looks spot on :) Oh, and if it has all the paperwork and two owners from new.. get there and check it out. Original Corrado's are getting really hard to find and it'd be a shame to pass up a potential minter :)
-
Hm... crappy being the right word.. no mention of what that is :|
-
Ah yes.. thats the one. And the clutch is designed to lose pressure before the brake system is, to give you plenty of warning. Pretty certain that coke can shaped one is for the power steering though... lemme just check my crappy workshop manual.
-
A good quality respray would probably set you back around $3500/$4000.. though knowing the USA, it'll probably cheaper as you guys get everythin cheaper ;) :) Flash Red is a pretty nice colour, and 55,000 miles on a 1992 model sounds excellent.. though check it over for general wear and tear as it could have had the digital odometer altered to make it more desirable to sell. Check for a well documented history, and other signs of wear (such as the seats, pedals, etc) to back that up. And I am pretty certain that the '92 models look identical to the '93... :)
-
Isnt that where the power steering fluid lives? And if so, does the power steering share fluid with the brakes?
-
Well the US version has the marginally smaller 2.8 litre V6 against the European 2.9 V6, but that really is about the only difference. The VR6 was always considered a 'face lift' model - bumper, bonnet, and lights were all slightly different compared to the '91 Basically '92 or '93 should be pretty identical.. so just get the newest you can for you money :D
-
And even then thats not an enormous power gain.. doesn't it give much nicer mid-range torque? Not that the VR needs it.. :)

I love the look of that colour.. any pics of the entire car??

Battery Drain Another classic one, in response to your question about the battery draining flat.. check to see whether your boot light remains on even when the boot is closed. I have read about that a few times on the Corrado... Close all the doors & boot, and drop the back seats and see if the courtesy light remains on in the boot.. if it does, you found the source of your battery drain. Failing that you might want to consider an uprated or more heavy duty battery to see if that can last longer than 4 days.. I was getting problems with my battery, and I had the wonder of the Bosch Silvers introduced to me. It cost about 50 quid from German/Swedish/French for a good 50/60AH battery which never let me down in my last 6 or so months of C ownership. Garages As for garage reccomendations.. AmD isn't all that far away from Stealth Racing, the place that I always used.. Vince and their team are very well known and respected in the VW/Audi community. Their website is at http://www.stealthracing.co.uk - they are located just outside of Coventry and I would have no hesitation in reccomending them :) Clanging noise from passenger side Possibly heatshield? Or a very common problem with lowered C's in the exhaust hitting the rear axle - you might want to check for that, especially as you say passenger side, where the exhaust runs...

Idle Stabilisation Valve On the 2.0 16v, the ISV is reeeeally easy to clean out :) See the attached image for the location of the ISV (its from a Golf 16v, but the thing is in the same place) - simply disconnect the pipework, and the electrical sensor it has attached to it, and then hose the inside of the ISV out with carb cleaner for a good 10 or so minutes. Hopefully this should dislodge and knock out loads of old gunk and crap which causes the car to idle badly. I also found disty cap / rotor arm / ignition lead replacement was a cheap but effective way of making the engine run and idle a lot better. Hope that helps! :)

Those look like Estoril alloys from that picture :) Welcome to the forums by the way.. we are a friendly bunch :D

Tough to say... I find it odd that the Clifford costs you more on your insurance considering its a vanilla Thatcham 1, just like the Cobra system. To start the bidding off though.. I have a Clifford Concept 300 on my car, and its great :) The novelty of being able to arm / disarm the thing from like 60 metres away never gets boring :D The Concept 300 doesn't really come with any of the posey features as standard.. stuff like full closure, dual zone proximity, remote start and so on are all addons which you gotta pay for.

My body dont like this heat... its 31 centigrade in our office, and I am stuck in a stifling shirt and tie shifting boxes around. Meltdown!! :|

Welcome to the forums rorymcconnachy... Corrado central locking, as Rams explained, is driven by a vacuum system as a pose to an electrical system. People do quite often experience problems with the central locking pump, which you can find hidden away under carpet on the drivers side / above the wheel arch in the boot. I used to have no end of problems with mine - used to resist me actually unlocking the door, or unlock and then lock instantly. Out of frustration I opened the boot and gave the pump a punch.. it then behaved perfectly for the next three months before acting up again. Who says violence doesn't solve problems ;) I have been told one way to help iron problems out of the central locking system is to switch your boot lock to central locking mode, and then open the boot and both of the doors.. Then lock and unlock your system and this should put the locks back in sync if you are getting trouble. As for the electric windows.. yeah, you can only operate one at a time :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of VW Stealers... :| The majority of them are the same.. they'd rather see you pootling around in a nice new Golf than an 8 or so year old Corrado (despite the Corrado being waaaay more desirable imho).
-
It does seem a bit funny that.. I only know of one owner on the eGroup with an 8v.. I haven't actually ever seen one either. Rare as hens teeth! :)
-
I've already talked with Mark a lot about his 16v.. it really is a beautiful condition machine but I pretty much decided that whenever I come back to Corrado ownership it'll be in a VR - already had a 16v and whilst I loved it, but a VR is where I wanna be :D Eventually. :)

Its not so much that I think people are being insensitive.. it just kinda sucks to have people knock the car you drive directly to your face. I wouldn't dream of doing that to anyone, regardless of what they drove. Yes, it really isn't a Corrado, and it has (a well deserved) bad image - every Saxo I see has been messed with in some way or other. And on some forums, the stereotype is just too painful. Thats why I like having a standard one... I look forward to being able to sell it as an unmodified and unmolested example...... so that someone can buy it and modify and molest it ;) I could have bought an old Golf or something - it would have been a lot cheaper than the Saxo, but I wanted something 'nearly new', reasonable speedy, and under warranty for a set amount, and the Saxo was spot on. Plus I wanted to be able to trade my car in and be rid of it rather than having to try and sell it.. because I knew I would never be able to do it otherwise. I never actually thought I would miss being part of the vw scene as much as I do though.. Anyway...

Must.... get.... another..... Corrado. ARRRRGH. :D
-
Well when I resized em, thats what size they came out as... Photoshop said they wouldn't be 'to scale' otherwise so I just left em as is :)
-
Ah nuts... so much for seeing a Corrado in Gran Turismo 4 then!! :|
-
Sorry to hear that mate. There is a lot of crime going on at the minute or so it seems - pretty much every other day I am hearing about this kinda thing on one forum or another :( Hope you manage to recover it!!
