Sounds nice Andy :) Another basic check.. there should be a different badge style on the centre console bit by the gearstick, where there is usually the normal Corrado Karmann badge. But as Roddy said... giving VW's customer service dept is the best way to be sure.
-
What colour / interior / spec is it? :)
-
I guess it works differently in the States. I've said it a million times, we get ripped off so badly in this country isn't true. Anyway.. I don't wanna take this OT. Hope you get yor car sorted soon tinsman :)
-
You certainly picked the right weather to get one of those! :)
-
It aint heavily modded mate.. its bog standard!!
-
Well it always sucks to have something like this happen.. another guy on the eGroup (who also posts on here) had a similar accident.. car rolled off his driveway, across a busy 2 lane road (didnt hit anything though) through a neighbours front gate and into their wall. His was a magazine feature car, and he had spent thousands on it... I am totally gutted for you mate and I hope you get it sorted out asap. I wouldn't wish anything like that on any Corrado owner. But damn, its some screwed up laws in the USA that let a 15 year old drive a 2.8 litre VR6. I'm 22 and the insurance companies still like to rip me off on a 1.6 litre car! :)

Well i'll see once Citroen sort the paint problem on my driver side door... Problem is market is saturated with them, and they are about to phase the Saxo out in favour of a new model. Thats gonna devalue em even more. ARGGGH... I dont know what to do about my f'ing car. I get so many contrasting opinions from everyone I speak to. I don't know what to do :(
-
Yeah.. theres a few Corrado's in the UK. Not exactly a common car by any stretch of the imagination... I did a 100 mile motorway drive the other week and only saw 2 of them if thats any indicator :)
-
Dont sell it mate. I did the same (not for performance, but money problems) and I have regretted it ever since. You could do a turbo or supercharger conversion.. but with the performance boost generally comes an element of unreliability. I'd give Stealth a call.. Vince is a top chap, and will gladly chat to you about the various options available to you. A turbo mod is going to cost you the better part of £4000/5000 to be done properly though!

Sweet mate... those alloys are superb, and the car is very nice. You've got later style bonnet and grille as well - were those standard on the late G60's? You give the car a 1" lift and it will be absolutely spot on. Very very nice m8 :)
-
As I say.. I need to see. This started out as a great idea, but I can see it being extremely expensive.. as you say, probably more than a C (VR6!) in total. Hm.
-
Very cool :) Thanks for sharing :) Love that blue Mk2 Golf on the first set of pictures........ ;)
-
Hehe... yes, by order of our exulted leader. Or something. I do plan on keeping the Paxo.. I want the Golf a project and a HOBBY because computers are starting to drive me nuts.

Oh the comedy... This is where the long stick with the hook on the end slowly reaches across the stage and drags you off Joe ;)
-
I spose I can understand that Joe.. I need to think about it.
-
Tom.. the wait is because I can't afford to pull £1000 out of thin air. I need a little time to save up :) And nope.. I am signed into MSN... are you sure that you are? :D

Not looking for a little while yet m8... probably sometime after the summer :)
-
Well... I love the idea but... Firstly the Corrado would cost a shed load more to insure. Secondly.. I am not looking for a project car in the sense that I want to learn how to strip and rebuild it right down to the last nut and bolt. I want a car that runs fine, but I want to be able to do things like basic servicing, changing brake pads & discs, slight engine modifications, etc etc... You know how much I wanna get a rado, but for the money I want to spend, the Corrado would have to be a proper project car.. and I just dont think I am ready for that just yet. I have practically 0% hands on experience with the internals of a car. The most advanced stuff I have ever done is changing rotor arm & distributor cap, and pulling some carpets up on my Corrado. And that was alarming cause I wasnt sure I could put it back together again! :)
-
Nice advice. Thanks. I have always liked the Mk2 more to be honest, but I initially figured Mk1 because it would be a bit cheaper. I'll see what kind of Mk2 I can buy for my money whenever I come to do this :)
-
I've had an idea.. and my folks even think its a good idea too. I'm considering, in the next few months (probably wont be till after the summer to be honest) looking at buying a Mk1 or Mk2 Golf GTI. I want back into the VW scene because the french car scene doesn't interest me at all. I am quite happy with my Saxo to be honest - its cheap to run, and its a nice drive but I am not interested in anything to do with anything other than just driving it. I'm thinking I could probably pick up a nice tidy GTI for under a grand.. insure it on limited mileage insurance.. and I even have a lockup garage at the top of the road which I dont use for my Saxo because its just too much of a walk every day. I also want to use it as a tool to learn basics of mechanics and that kinda thing.. a Mk1 or Mk2 Golf is an excellent bulletproof design that should be an excellent starting place for me to learn from. I would then be back into the VeeDub scene and I could go up to things like Inters without having to hang my head in shame :) What do you think guys? :)

friday fun!! whats your fav 3 raddo's on this forum ??
Jim replied to W3RKD's topic in General Car Chat
Hm... Roddys Storm has gotta be one of the best ones, without a doubt. I like dubster82's a lot as well.. just subtle modifications, very clean paintwork, and tasty alloys.. Last choice would be a tough one. To be honest I like every Corrado here because I like pretty much every Corrado. Well... almost every one :) -
ISV is a prime candidate... Also, if they haven't been changed in a long time, worth changing ignition leads & disty cap - quick and relatively cheap job to do :)
-
Hahaha... nice post there Darren :D
-
I had to replace mine once... there should probably be a bit of rusted metal on the bonnet hinge (as dazzy said) where it used to go... just undid one nut on mine, and put the replacement on without any problems. Think it did cost about £10 for a new one though.. bloody stealers.
-
Thats a typical Corrado ownership bill if ever I heard it :( You should speak to other VW specialists in the UK and see what they suggest the work might cost.. try giving Stealth Racing a call for example. Their number can be found at http://www.stealthracing.co.uk - Vince is a friendly guy and is always happy to talk and share advice.
