Ok ok.. lemme just install Photoshop so I can resize these puppies!
  3. Well there is nothing like a really good deterrant to put people off trying this kind of thing again... Firstly.. you'll have to speak to a good bodyshop about getting the door repaired and resprayed.. I should imagine this is going to set you back the better part of £400 or so quid. I believe you can get armour plates for around the locks for the Corrado but I can't tell you any specific information as I just dont know :( Get a good quality alarm sorted.. thats the next priority. To be honest, I am surprised your insurance company even let you insure the car without one as Direct Line and a number of others made it compulsary for me. I am about to get a Clifford Concept 300 fitted to my Saxo (after some s*it bag broke into it about a month ago) at a cost of £375.. though if you shop around you can probably get that price down a bit. Its going to be an expensive reminder of how car thiefs operate in this country.. to be honest, I wish they would just heave a brick through the window as it would be a LOT cheaper to repair.. my door on the Saxo cost £300 to put right, and with the alarm its come to just under £700.. not fun at all. And its not worth claiming on insurance cause I am still trying to save up enough no claims to get them protected.. only one more year to go!!

    Z-Rated Rubber

Are you certain you really need Z rated tyres? The letter is used to define the maximum speed that the tyre is likely to be subjected to - i'd say the Corrado needs no more than V (for the 16v) or W for the G60 & VR6.. Z rated's are for cars doing speeds in excess of 190MPH, and I can't see a G60 doing that without some enormous work doing on it! :)
  8. Well.. firstly i'd like to welcome you to the forums. Unfortunately I personally cannot offer any suggestions on what could be the problem with your SLC - I am just hoping some of the more mechanically minded folk around here will read over this and offer some advice. Now, I might not be 100% accurate on this, but I am sure that I have read on other Corrado forums that bump starting the VR6 engine is a Very Bad Thing™ - I don't know the reasons why or how this happens, but I just have a vague memory of someone getting sternly advised about the perils of bump starting the VR engine. I thought it was worth mentioning.. hopefully one of the more technically minded can help with that information. You might want to post this up on the VW Vortex forums (http://www.vwvortex.com) as they are more likely to be active around this time for you as an American.. plus if the recall was an American/SLC specific thing (as I can't say I have heard about it here) then they are definately going to know about it. Good luck!
  9. Well... in short : They were a special edition, limited edition run of 6 cars given out to select UK dealerships to help promote the Corrado VR6 on its launch in 1992. They come with a special paintjob (Dusty Mauve), a full (and rather garish) red full leather interior, and different alloy wheels. The point is they were hand trimmed at Karmann Coachworks.. ie they rolled out of the factory like this. So they are pretty darned rare :|
  10. I'd love to be able to buy it mate. I'm just asking so that I can torture myself some more.
  11. What can I say mate.. you have excellent taste :) I dont know though to be honest.. I have always liked the Bora / Passat body shape. If they made it look suitably agressive and converted it to a two door body (plus fitted an appropriately brutish engine) i'd more than likely love to be able to look one over. As to whether it would deserve to wear the Corrado name..... that'd be for an entirely different debate!
  12. Hi Scotty, VW never made a Wolfsburg Edition Corrado.. this is because the Corrado was actually built at the Karmann Coachworks in Osnabruck :) The guy is basically talking out of his backside. The badges are just aftermarket ones which he has sprinkled liberally over the car to make it appear like its a limited edition.. VW *did* make some special edition Corrado's (such as the G60 Jet, one of which is owned by a member on here) - the majority were special edition VR6's such as the Storm and the Campaign. Wolfsburg G60 is a lie though. Unless the car is very tidy, I would ignore it - if he lies about something like it being a special edition, I dread to think what else is lurking.
  13. Lanny, You tried contacting these people? They primarily sell stuff on eBay and have enormous positive feedback (1700+) with almost 0% negative feedback. http://www.stereoinstallparts.com/

    How about this?

Andy, Its a fascinating setup. I hadn't even heard of Diesel engines being transplanted into Corrado's up until a few weeks ago, and now we have two such examples on the forum. Kinda neat. It certainly is an excellent idea.. economy of a diesel, but with excellent torque and superb tuning opportunities (A rechip alone on a Turbo Diesel unit usually weilds an additional 25-30BHP). I'd just love to see the face of the VW dealer if you took one in for a checkup with a diesel lump in it :D If you need some advice or any info on the work you are doing on this transplant (even though it looks like you have cracked it pretty much) the guys from PD Motorsport on this forum are a very knowledgable bunch of chaps and have done plenty of work for very satisfied customers on here. Good luck.. I can't wait to see pics of it when its all done :)

    How about this?

Hi Andy, Welcome to the forum :) Care to post and let us know a little bit more about your Corrado? My 16v was recently sold in Birmingham and I have yet to find the purchaser on any of the forums! :)

    Sunroof parts

We really should sort out a Corrado Forum meet up or something.. somewhere in the West Midlands ideally *ahem* :)

    Gone mad.

Nope.. it'd be a hell of a project, but I am sure it'd be worth it :)
  18. Looks like its gonna be in PVW anyway.. got this in an email off em this morning : not a bad effort we'll use it in the mag thanks
  19. I am sure I have read that, yes it is illegal to actually use NOS on the road / in general road use. And I would also imagine the majority of reputable insurance companies would avoid you like the plague if you had a NOS'd up car. I mean.. lets be honest.. you aren't gonna be putting that NOS into a car for the hell of it. You are obviously going to be using it for a bit of street racing, and I guess they'd be very aware of that!
  20. 200SX's arent all that common over here, despite their enormous market depreciation in the past few years. Can pick up mint condition later models for like £7k. I have always really liked them, and they are certainly not a car I would turn down if I was offered one! Most definately not a chick car though.. 2 litre turbo is for the guys over here! :)
  21. Hehe... I dont think Volkswagen have a contact link. I wish I was really making em.. had a fair few orders!! :D
  22. I'd like to welcome you to the forum. But if you have only come to cause arguments then you aren't welcome. Oh, and by the way.. I dont know where you are getting your numbers from, but my Saxo VTR wouldnt touch my Corrado 16v - it certainly wouldnt have a chance against a G60! Its nice to be able to say I can give an informed & authoritive opinion on this :D
  23. And here (as posted on the eGroup) is the attempt at the rear of the car : Original Image My Effort
