Good work Mic. Sounds like it's been a challenging few weeks with the old girl but glad you persevered! Not sure what it is about heater matrix's at the moment but 2cc's just went unexpectedly on his VR6 the other day too, so he's been tackling that all week. Wretched bloody design from Volkswagen!!

Yeah - the steering is VERY heavy compared to my Fiesta - and I'm only on standard Speedlines and with slightly skinnier than normal tyres. It feels very strange getting back behind the wheel again. The test I think would be to wait until the engine is fully warmed up (so not idling at a higher RPM), then try the steering whilst stationary. When I went through a run of several faulty power steering pumps, it was noticeably heavier than normal and groaned a hell of a lot but that vanished somewhat when revving the engine, or moving even at low speed because I guess of the higher RPM and therefore the pump running faster. The problem wasn't apparent as much when the engine was cold again presumably because of higher revs so the pump running a bit faster.

Presumably it was fine prior to the change? From what I've been told it can sometimes take a while for all the air to leave the system so I wouldn't worry just yet.

Personally really like Mike. He not only seems to be ridiculously hard working, but also always seems to have time to chat to fans of the show. He takes a ridiculous amount of abuse and hassle online through his social media accounts - absolutely not deserved in my opinion, but I guess it comes with the territory when you use things like Facebook & Twitter and are famous.

I don't see why that shouldn't be an option too :)

Just wondering if anyone had any news? Friend tried to phone the other week - phone still dead, previously working mobile number no longer working. And I sent a Facebook message which was apparently viewed but I never got a reply :(
-
Shouldn't be too bad. Can be a pain I think because the manifold bolts are a bit of a pain to access, can round off, etc - but really shouldn't be more than a couple of hours labour max I wouldn't think plus the cost of a good second hand manifold.

Channels such as Discovery, History, etc have totally lost the plot with their programming. All they seem to show these days are programmes like Storage Wars and Pawn Stars - and nothing actually educational, or scientific! Just all American brain-dead type stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to watch that kind of stuff too - but I do remember when they did actually seem to have some kind of remit and would only show certain types of programmes!

Picture on their website :)

Was just thinking the same, Sean. I'd like to see some paperwork to back that mileage up as I'm not sure I've ever seen one with such low mileage look so clapped out!

Thread cleaned and a free bump :) -
Wonder when they're going to air it!
-
Good spot!

Good work :) I've always felt for what is actually quite a small car, the interior of the Corrado is pretty spacious and practical!
-
Yeah that's a good point.. I guess they play the profit down, but it's sort of a major feature of every restoration they do! Never thought about it that way.
-
I think in his defence it's never setup that it's meant to be a business or something like that.. the idea is that they're generally demonstrating things that most home mechanics / enthusiasts could achieve. They rarely get into hardcore stuff like tearing down and rebuilding an engine or gearbox (though I suppose they have done such things in the past) and try and focus on more superficial stuff.
-
Woohoo... About time :) can't wait to see it!

Shop around if you decide to go for an EP3 Type R - your budget will stretch to a very good one, but man there are some dogs out there!

What's with the skanky rusty exhaust pipe? As Ian says, looks like rot starting on the boot round by the number plate illumination too. Overall looks like a reasonably straight example though. -
I'd say it's worth seeing once but.. it's very much a scene kind of show (air ride, "detailed" stickers down the windscreen, etc) rather than original / classic examples of VW's. But you do get some nice stuff there, no doubt.
-
Indeed - that's why I'm coming up for the evening :)
-
I'm going up the night before to meet up for an evening with friends, but not sure I'll go to the show. It's just not really my cup of tea and besides is always freezing cold there for some reason :)
-
Used to make them quite a lot when I was a kid and keep thinking about buying some kits in for a bit of a nostalgia trip.. might be enough to tempt me over to Lidl! :)
-
Yeah another thumbs up for continental - they're the OE manufacturer too :) Should still be available from VW..
