  1. Absolutely lovely :) Was it a full respray you had?
  2. Honestly I'm not sure of any way to test the ISV is working, and indeed I think they can appear to be behaving, but still not work correctly. Best thing really is just to try another one on the car if you can get your hands on one. They're a known weak point that every Corrado owner will have problems with at some point or other.
  3. Does sound like it could be the classic idle stabilisation valve. Might be worth trying to pick up a known good second hand on - they can normally be found for something like £20. Hang in there. When the car is all sorted it'll be really worth it. Believe me I've had my share of pain with my Corrado (and indeed have some issues outstanding that have bought me close to throwing in the towel) but it's really worth just sticking at it as you will get on top of it all!

Fairly thrilled to see someone undertaking this level of restoration on a Corrado. It was always something I dreamt of doing with a lottery win - to get a virtually factory fresh, brand new Corrado put together so this should be somewhere close judging by the level of ambition here. Please do keep us posted with progress! :)
  5. Sorry chaps - the group buy happened months and months ago, and all sets got sold. Apologies! I have thought about running up another batch at some point but really unsure.
  6. Personally think yellow on a Corrado looks superb. As much as I like the metallic colours they get a bit samey after a while. Jasmine Yellow is really uncommon so great to see :)
  7. The V5 is a fairly poor engine too in many respects.. quite underpowered given the displacement, with abysmal fuel economy.. though it would certainly be a fairly unique conversion (not heard of anyone doing a V5 swap into a Corrado) and the exhaust note sounds just like the lovely 5 cylinder Audi's :)

    Who's your insurer?

Bear in mind mine is a dedicated second car policy - need to have a primary / daily driver, and only 3,000 miles per annum, and garaged at all times when not 'away from home' (i.e. at car shows, etc).

    Who's your insurer?

Pleased to say I just got the VR reinsured at a great price finally. Lynbrook Insurance who I've used in recent years, and who a good friend of mine insurers a Scirocco with just came back with a price of £173. Needless to say I could barely get my card details out fast enough. That's a real result. Thanks Lynbrook :)

    Who's your insurer?

No claims is a real bane here too as of course having a daily, the no claims are allocated to that.

    Who's your insurer?

    That's a good price.

    Who's your insurer?

I just don't get the inconsistencies. Insurance in this country drives me up the goddamn wall.
  13. I've spent quite a few days ringing around various insurers with increasing despair, trying to get a reasonable price for on my VR. It's no longer my daily car, lives in pretty secure lock-up, and will only end up doing 3,000 miles a year at most. However despite that, despite a handful of very basic (and typical for a Corrado) modifications, and despite me being in my mid 30's with no endorsements or similar the prices I'm getting don't seem particularly awesome. The best I've had so far is £250 with Peter James insurance which I guess isn't too bad but they misheard what I said on the phone and seem to have just made up some of the modifications which means I'm going to have to re-discuss them, get them to requote, etc.. I just wanted a quick straw poll to see who you're all insuring with these days, especially those who aren't using the Corrado as a daily so have it insured on a limited mileage policy.. because honestly ringing around and going through all your personal details, explaining the location of the garage which doesn't have it's own postcode ("Oooh.. not sure we're going to be able to insure you!") and detailing the modifications is getting extremely tedious. The most baffling thing is, when I was running my old mans Daimler V8 earlier this year I got the most ridiculous quotes I'd ever heard for that. Bearing in mind the same driver, and the same storage location but a car with virtually no safety features, and worth about 6x as much as my Corrado, I landed quotes of £95. Yeah.. £95. Why is it so much more to insure a Corrado worth a fraction of the price, which is far harder to steal, for which parts will cost a load less?! Insurers tried to far have been Classic Line (£272), Chris Knott (wouldn't insure me.. wtf), and Peter James (£254). Your insurer and premium would be useful to get an idea of who's worth ringing. Cheers.
  14. That's absolutely ridiculous :( Fingers crossed you have luck in getting some compensation!
  15. I don't tend to go to many shows any more - I think after going to them now for so many years, they all feel a little samey! :( I was planning to go to the NEC Restoration Show at the end of the month though and then probably Stanford Hall in May!
  16. Southam is handy for Stealth Racing then! You're in the best place to own a Corrado! I'm up in the Earlsdon/Tile Hill sort of area.
  17. Hi :) Where abouts in Warwickshire are you? I'm only over in Coventry.
  18. It's cutting your nose off to spite your face though... Top Gear makes them a load of money (apparently JC sold his share in Top Gear to the BBC in 2012, which is why they have so much control over the show now) and has hundreds of millions of fans. If he's a prima donna or a pain in the arse, surely he's worth the frustration to keep raking in the money and keep the fans happy?
  19. Fantastic - a rare colour for the VR6. One of my favourites! Good to see it's gone to an enthusiast and as others have said, I'm always quite excited when we land new members from other countries (as the user base here is primarily all British / UK based). Welcome aboard!
  20. But Wendy says she hasn't watched it for years because of TG.. I'm thinking she may have meant to put JC... :)
  21. As it seems all outstanding issues have been resolved one way or another, I'm going to lock up this whole sorry mess. Thanks for getting involved, Macdaddy.
  22. I still get confused by the relationship between Top Gear and the BBC. I assumed Top Gear was independently produced and sold to the BBC but evidently not. Do the BBC still own some part of it?
  23. If there was a substantial price adjustment for having one fitted, I'd give it serious consideration.. however knowing insurers, premiums only really go one way! I have certainly been considering one for a fair while now to use as ammunition if needed in an insurance claim!
