I really must upload that.. will *try* and get round to it tonight. Going to set a reminder on my phone now!

Probably about 4 hours getting everything out, and about double that putting it all back in. I strongly suggest you collect up as many yoghurt pots or plastic tubs as you can so you can collect and organise all the screws that come out! Honestly it's not very difficult a job to do - just daunting. And you need to be methodical about how you take it out and put it all back together.. if you get stuck at any point, come on here and ask for advice. Plenty of folks have been through this pain in the last few years! As for that Wiki link, I'm not sure. Search for the guide posted up by -=Kris=- which is very comprehensive.

Have a look on eBay - whatever you do, don't buy a cheap one as it's not a job you want to be doing again. I bought a Valeo one and so far, so good. Just to give you some idea of what awaits.. when I got to this stage, I was freaking out a bit but it all came good :) The forum's built in search feature is a bit guff, but if you click this link: https://www.google.co.uk/search?btnG=1&pws=0&q=site:the-corrado.net+heater+matrix&gws_rd=cr,ssl&ei=DWHCVM6CLo_Y7AbpjoDQCw Should take you to all search results on the forum to do with heater matrix's. Should be able to find loads of info :)
-
Yep that is the coolant warning light - and it'll be because the level has dropped as I say. I'd bypass the matrix again, top up your coolant, and the problem should go away.
-
Well I'm guessing it'll be your coolant level gauge flashing as of course the coolant will just be leaking out of the (blown) heater matrix, causing the coolant level to drop :(
-
That just confirms that it is indeed your heater matrix that is screwed... It's not a job I'd like a garage to do (unless I trusted them implicitly) as it requires a lot of care removing the dashboard and all the instrumentation / switch gear, to get at the heater box. They're likely to rush it otherwise the labour cost will be astronomical. It took me about 8-10 hours to do it all as it's just very time consuming!

Disappointingly I did track down the guy and did have a good conversation with him over email. I wanted to write a feature about the cars for the Sprinter magazine, but he subsequently said that he'd agreed to do a feature with PVW magazine and they had insisted on 'exclusivity' so it never got to happen. Annoying really :(

Welcome to the forum! Your Corrado looks great. I say it every time, but I love seeing where these cars spring up in the world! Don't think we have many Bulgarian Corrado owners, so welcome!
-
Agreed. Having had a few modded cars, you can just end up tackling all sorts of gremlins and fallout sometimes. At least with a standard or nearly standard car you know what sort of base you're going to be working off. My last Corrado had the most horrifying DIY aftermarket headlight loom on it which had a knack for blowing relays or fuses whenever it saw fit, and one time after heavy rain I came out to find the headlights just ON all by themselves. The Corrado standard loom may only give you candles for headlights, but at least it doesn't do crap like that! :)

I'm totally stumped. I do check in on the site multiple times per day and honestly haven't had a single instance of the slowdown yet. Baffling.

What broadband providers do you guys use?

It's worth just looking into a normal (full) insurance policy that you then just cancel again after the 4-6 weeks.. it may work out cheaper? I can't say 100% that it WILL be cheaper (indeed I was talked into doing similar on a car I needed to insure for a month or so and ended up getting screwed by the insurer............) but depending on the policy, where you buy from, and how much of a rebate you get, it could work out better. Definitely ring around.

I just don't get it :|

Is that the water or oil temperature? And yeah, heater matrix is better that having to do the head gasket no doubt about it!
-
If you're smelling coolant in the car, there's a good chance is could be the dreaded heater matrix. Remove the trim under the glovebox of the passenger side footwell and reach in to put your hand round the bottom / back of the heater box and see if you find any coolant..

Very nice Charlie :) Always wondered what the MK3 Golf VR was like to drive.. a lot of people used to slate them for being very spongey and soft in the suspension department, but honestly isn't that what you want from a daily driver generally? :) How goes the OBD2 VR6 motor feel compared to the one in the VR?
-
It's weird - I use the forum a fair amount and I honestly have not seen this yet. If anyone else experiences this please keep reporting it so Andi can look into it.. ideally with exact times it's happening so logs can be checked!

Not really sure there is a clear cut formula as every Corrado is so different in terms of mileage, history, work that's been done, condition, etc! Storms just generally seem to fetch more.
-
Could get a set of locks from a car being broken perhaps, if all the keys match - then just swap them over and voila. Not really an item people need very often so should be able to get a full set reasonably cheap.
-
That is indeed the reality but ultimately it's seen as the run out model, and is therefore more desirable so does command higher prices. And to be fair Mystic Blue was only available, for the Corrado, on the Storm unlike Classic Green which could be had on non-Storms.

People who demand you don't park outside their house have no leg to stand on assuming you aren't blocking a driveway. As you say. Public highway. If you don't want a neighbour parking outside your house, get a house with a driveway / move.

The threat about him fixing your 'noisy' car is most concerning. Why is the UK so full of threatening old bullies like him.
