Leaking Radiator on Vr6 Engine / Replacement Advise Please
Jim replied to Ray1965's topic in Engine Bay
It's pretty easy replacing the rad - just time consuming. You unfortunately need to take the whole front end off but it's not too difficult. Having had the front end off now probably 5 or 6 times in the last two years firstly for the radiator job and several alternator swaps, I can get everything off to access the radiator now within about 45 minutes. The best option is a Hella rad as they're now obsolete from VW - I've got one on my VR and it's fine. I got mine from these guys - came very quickly, and as I say, was a Hella unit but might be worth ringing them to confirm that's still the one they supply: http://www.radiatorshop.net/products/volkswagen-corrado-29-i--vr6 -
I'd be in for that weekend :)

I think it was James May who made the point that Top Gear have, in recent years, done various features on the show involving the armed forces - and that given that the Falklands is still in living memory for a lot of troops, they said it's just an area of conversation they wouldn't dream of going anywhere near especially to satirise it. I really do believe it was just a bad coincidence.

Will see how the funds are around then.

If we're talking about the heater motor cover I dutifully scraped off the old seal, cleared all the leaves and crap out and put on a genuine new gasket. Seems to have been dry round there ever since :)

Great work :) Will drive like a new car once you've finished putting it all back together!

Hmm... would like to pop along to that. Doubt I'll have bothered to get the VR taxed and insured again by then, though would quite like to see what it's putting out since the rebuild. Either way will try and make it :)

Sounds really worth a watch! Cheers.

If you need to get any Corrado work done that's out of the scope of DIY, you're lucky in that you live pretty near to Stealth Racing in Southam who've been long time specialists for VW, and especially the Corrado with the VR6 motor. So they're worth a shout if you get stuck with anything.

Don't see many VR's in white :)

A more descriptive title, relative to your problem might help you get some more people looking at the thread! Can't say I've ever met any other Corrado owners who also owned Landies, so might want to get onto some Land Rover forums.

Always good to see other type 53's on here :)

Looks a nice pub. When are we thinking for the get together? Sometime in January?
-
Happy new year :) had an awful hangover all day but rallied in time to go out and drink soft drinks for the night ;) Here's to a reliable 2015 for all your Corrado's!

That sort of area would suit me I think (Rutland) :)
-
Any scope for another 'local' type pub meet? Would be well up for a trip over for a little get together in January some time.

I didn't really get any feeling that they were over there for a **** take.. it just didn't come across that way at all.

Not sure if you've seen it yet or not, but I did have to laugh at the part when the electrics went haywire. I assumed it was something relating to the many many micro controllers you've told me about, but I guess given what had ACTUALLY happened, the way it went wrong was understandable. Honestly I was amazed at how much punishment those cars took.

Well done mate :) Always a great feeling getting a fresh 12 month ticket!
-
Yeah - there's no way they'd have been driving along those snowy roads with any degree of control in RWD, front engined V8 muscle cars without some appropriate rubber :)
-
Just watching through the second part now. Felt equally frustrated with them ruining three great cars.. that Esprit was absolutely beautiful! Should imagine the Lotus owners club are pretty dismayed about it.

Good work :)

Glad you managed to sort out a plan :)
