It's reassuring to see a LOT of comments from folks expecting that to be a lot more expensive. Gives me some reassurances on values for our own cars.
-
Yeah - thought that sounded a good buy for someone! Get it bought and freshen it up, someone :)

What has four legs, a tail and lives in my Corrado?
Jim replied to voo51's topic in General Car Chat
Well on the plus side, a set of carpets are rarely high on the list for most folks as they're pretty hard wearing so should be nice and cheap from anyone breaking a Corrado! :) A good opportunity to get the carpets up and replace all the sound deadening, etc. -
Sorry to clog up Wendy's thread! But yeah I am hanging onto these mate as I do hope to have some paintwork done.. some day..

Once again shows how much I know! Not a lot! I've got a set of brand new sill guards in a box, and they're rolled up like tape... so are those the early style?
-
3) The sill rubbers aren't actually rubber but an adhesive 'tape' that you apply to the sill. Think they're not only obsolete but also quite rare / desirable so I suspect you're gonna have a hard time getting a set and may have to improvise. Not sure if DDI still do their own Corrado sill plates? *edit* Take a look at these and see what you think.. http://www.dubdesignindustries.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=69_75_80 Cheers.

Worth sticking it in for an MOT and seeing what it fails on? Might give any prospective buyer some idea of what they might be letting themselves in for.. or it might pass, and make it a more attractive proposition :)

Think you're right there mate. I'd never buy a posh quartz. If I was spending into four figures, I'd only ever buy something with a mechanical movement. When you know the movement probably costs all of £20 at cost price, you wonder exactly what you're paying for when the watch costs £1,500! If it's a watch you've found that you really like then go for it! To hell with whatever anyone else thinks :) It's like musical taste, or fashion sense.. it's a totally subjective and individual thing.

Dark colours. It just doesn't work on a light coloured (silver, etc) Corrado in my humble opinion!
-
Well she looks like she needs a bit of TLC but sounds like you're in to it as a project. What are your plans? Trying to go back to original, or modifying it?
-
Amazing where these cars turn up in the world. Welcome to the forum. We'd love to see some pictures :)

I was having the exact same issue mate. Browse to http://direct.the-corrado.net and then go into your PM's and try again.. it should work!

Any scope to mount them in the door cards?

Leaking Radiator on Vr6 Engine / Replacement Advise Please
Jim replied to Ray1965's topic in Engine Bay
You may well be right - I'm pretty clueless about how the engine is supported, subframes, etc... so just did it to be sure! Be good to get some confirmation if anyone knows 100% ? :) -
Ah yes I have replied to that thread. Ta.

Leaking Radiator on Vr6 Engine / Replacement Advise Please
Jim replied to Ray1965's topic in Engine Bay
Only because I was told it was a good idea.. and I didn't question it as I don't know any better :) -
I don't see any place to actually confirm attendance? There's no official thread yet or anything..?
-
Awesome! Let us know how you get on. Will be a substantial improvement over the clapped out old OE stuff!

Cool. If it has gone back to Omega/STS then they do always do a very nice job :)
-
I'd be interested to know if they send it off to Omega / STS - I doubt they will. I'd at least hope for that price it's fully stripped and cleaned, a new crystal if needed, and the movement timed / tested to make sure it's well in spec - in which case they wouldn't just replace it. I could send you the details of an Omega specialist I used who did a complete overhaul of my old Speedmaster which is a mechanical watch.. that included full movement strip / service, polish the case, new crystal and some extra work to correct a fault in the movement.. and the bill was less than what you've had to pay for a new battery :(
-
If it's a quartz, then yeah - that's a bit of a con. With a proper mechanical watch service by a decent watchmaker, the ENTIRE movement is disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and reassembled. If you were charged £325 for a battery and a clean, then they really saw you coming I'm afraid :( That said I honestly don't know what Omega do when they service a quartz movement. It might be way more involved than I am assuming. But I doubt it. Where did you take it to if you don't mind me asking?
-
Could pick up a nice Speedmaster Professional for that sort of money. They did a new variant using the Co-axial movement and with a more sporty look / feel in the last year or two and the prices seem pretty decent. Leaking Radiator on Vr6 Engine / Replacement Advise Please
Jim replied to Ray1965's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah - it can seem pretty daunting but isn't so bad once you get into it. From memory the process is vaguely: * Headlights, foglights, indicators out. * Chin spoiler off, then the support bracket that attaches the chin spoiler to the bumper. * A jack underneath the block ideally on a bit of wood to support the engine. * Unplug temperature sensor on lower driver side of bumper, undo the four big bolts and remove front bumper. * Remove bolts holding radiator to slam panel. Then remove the 10-12 bolts holding the slam panel to the wings / subframe. No need to disconnect the bonnet release cable - just swing the slam panel over to the side out of the way. Then it's a doddle to get at the radiator. I had no trouble getting any of this stuff removed on mine - all came undone as required though I did need a longer bar for the bumper bolts as they're quite hefty and were on TIGHT.
