  1. was just wondering if anyone round that neck of the woods had bought a rado off my dad :D cos if they did it probably had me slobbering over it as a kid
  2. Right, i think what your saying is when you turn the key your engine cranks but does not start, but occasionally when you let the key rest the engine seems to fire - but only very very quickly? If so, i've had a similar problem - and IN MY CASE :!: it was a sticking metering rod in the fuel distributor, this is checked by carefully lifting the metering head, and checking the plunger moves freely beneath... if you don't know where the metering head is i'd get your local mobile mechanic to look for you. must stress my symptoms were similar, and in my case it was the fault above. there are tonnes of causes for non starting 1.8 valvers (i've had my share of em) but it's almost impossible to diagnose over a forum page :(
  3. no your plugs shouldn't have oil round them! so would recommend you get that cleaned up, then once we get your car started you look to see where the oil is coming from! i'm releived there's fuel in your car  what we need to establish is whether it's getting to your injectors. are you saying you turn ignition, car starts up and then dies?
  4. I was born in salsbury just down the road :D you guys should check out the main dealers your motors were bought from - let me know if it was Coulthurst & Grimshaw Oh & welcome :D
  5. is your battery ok? [/quote:cf3d5] For starters check you have the two essentials of fuel and spark: - Pull out an injector and when cranking make sure the injector is spraying a fine mist, then check for a spark; using an old plug may be easier. Check these out then we'll get onto more complex causes
  6. Crikey this is difficuly.... but as per my mood this morning for me it would have to be banana man because of the sheer lariness of it, then G60Dan because it looks like what i think the corrado always should have been, and then for moodiness A20LEE beauty.... but i'd have any of them in a flash
  7. jeeeez 22k's untroubled is good, i've done 59k in three years, which is pretty respectable for a G reg! it's declared off road at the moment for fun to start, so mileage is at dead stop for now
  8. purpose of flywheel is to develop, store and provide momentum to the crank (engine), and in doing so smooth the reciprocating action. by lightening the flywheel you scoop out excess material which makes it lighter, and therefore easier to turn. advantage is this can provide quicker spool and facilitate revving, the disadvantages is you loose the stored momentum and become more reliant on the immediate energy of the engine - on hills it can be noticeable. track cars which are primarily raced on the flat are best suited, but sure someone will shoot me down :D
  9. Think they should go for k jetronic - highly tunable and easy to trouble shoot

  17. know what you mean, knuckles really suffer on the inlets :D If anyone is interested i'll have a spare polished valver head by next weekend, it's coming off a 9a.... so i'll be deciding then which (kr/ 9a) i wish to keep for the 9a bottom. I'll be sticking it on here once it's tidy, and then shifting to ebay, price will be dependent on condition when i get good look at it....
