i strapped a miltek on my valver last week, as well as a TSR four branch.... at idle it burbles nicely, but when accellerating or under load it booms - I had no issues fitting it, and therefore assume the booming is due to the four branch not the system, besides that well happy with.

yeh the spoiler looks like a shopping trolley handle too, probably have to put a quid in it to make it go :D love the 'side exit pipes' as well - so small you can barely see em
-
bit weird but plugged in my vsam unit last night which exactly alters the moment of spark for running on inleaded, and hey presto my idle has never been so steady! don't ask me how/ why :?
-
yep your right - didn't count any labour in my £2,5k - bargain hunting parts only
-
£5k ! I'd have thought you could get running a G6016v for half that - but I am guessing :D
-
as above - cold start valve is attached to side of block with fuel line running to and blue connector - when cold it richens mixture like chokes on really old cars :D the thermotime is sat underneath the water jacket outlet on side of block, got a big brass screw with brown connector. both 'should' be easy to undo and change, try not to loose your coolant too
-
ford drivers eh  my last rado was your colour - posh lookin 8)
-
considering you get no starter motor click, and it struggles to bump start as well then my guess is dodgy wiring on the ignition... ....other possibility - has the car got an immobiliser 8)
-
yep jim mine overheated a while back when tinkering  no sounder though, just the little blinking light which should flash on pre ignition as test.... have had the oil pressure one on my old scirroco too when on round abouts.
-
mine does this - think one of sensors on side of head is knacked which messes with the fueling when starting.. i'm planning to change the three identical ones (to look at) the brown contact to the warm up regluator and the thermotime switch - big brass nut one. hopefully that will sort.
-
145k on my first valver with usual wear and tear, and currently got 133k on new one, rising 15 - 20k/ year ....not bad for a 14 year old motor :D will be putting it into retirement soon though
-
this thread got my interest, so put BADGER and 5 into search engine........ this is what i got http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/here ... 023369.stm :D :D

onyx metallic h reg outside the offfice..... never seen another one the same colour as mine and then one turns up on my doorstep
-
sundodger - THEY DON'T WORK principle is they introduce "disturbed" air into the manifold, which contains "excited" air molecules promoting a cleaner burning/ energy packed charge - absolute codgers... one little valve allowing air into the manifold when the vacum rises only serves to make a sucking sound and mess with the air flow and instruments which control the engine management. like i said above clever marketing, i phoned TSR about them when I got offered mine and he practically bit my head off - they'd had them on the rolling road and couldn't find any improvement whatsoever.
-
a big hairy set of webbers and some intelligent management will get you close - be kinda noisy tho :D
-
I've heard good things about the kent cams but no experience, and there's also the modded 'KR exhaust cam as inlet cam' option. I've just fitted the TSR manifold to mine at the weekend, and certainly a difference in the pull..... gotta admit i find some of TSR's prices difficult to swallow - if you've got time i'd look around a bit for comparisons Re the manifold there is a loss of low end power, but the 50mm manifold provides a kick when you get it spinning to 4500 - 5000 range :D if you want low end grunt stick with the 42mm though
-
I tried a second hand one out, in fact it's still shut off in the engine bay, there's no benefit whatsoever - and everytime i stopped at the traffic lights my car sounded like it was farting. Bunch of ass, clever marketing tho
-
Ladies and Gents I'm really sorry.... (now with photos)

Big shame about the motor, but main thing is you both walked away from it without serious injury. Good luck with the search... -
H reg blue 16v, original and tidy - parked in Highampton (devonia) yesterday and today. Saw the silver 2.0 again, had your boards on the rack as I was heading for session at widemouth - you never wave/ flash open your eyes. Oh yeh you drive like my granny too :D
-
Check cold start valve - blue connector on side of block. Make sure your mixture is right too, i had starting problems few months back and found was running very lean. Make sure your batteries in good nick too, replaced mine with a calcium jobby and am well pleased - bit pricier tho

Tekera If your looking to pursue the teknik jokers you might want to PM Blair321 cos he's got big iussues with this lot. They used the liquidation claim with him too. I just took delivery of a 'corrado' strut brace from them - it wasn't the one they advertised, and its a joke how far away from fitting it is  Havn't decided exactly what to do with my strut brace yet - seems nice and heavy though
-
The mileage though average is still high, not a worry though I had approaching 150,000 on my last valver. I'd pay £2k ish if it is immaculate as you say, sure it's not been resprayed at some point - at 135k i'd expect a whole lotta stone chips :)
-
stick with it fella - you'll sort it.
-
horse manure, if there's no soldering how does it *signal* the ecu - telepathically :D if you buy all 5 you might end up with +95 bhp :D
