Got that wrong it’s 4”, 100mm and the filter of choice at the moment is a K&N RG-1001RD. This filter is a £28 bargain at the moment on eBay and comes with rubber inserts to reduce the diameter if needed.

Can’t imagine it being good over speed bumps or pot holes either. Doesn’t look like there’s much room for the wheels to move in those arches.

Steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car

No wonder the paint had cracks in it, that must be some thickness of paint. I haven’t seen as many paint layers as that before when rubbing down. That’s just lazy. There’s more layers than you think. Base coated and then lacquered every time, I count 14 layers inc. primers. Well done that man for cracking on and saving it.

4K tops as a non runner

I agree there is a good chance he guessed the reg right but if he did it was off the road in 2013 and the mileage backs that up, so unlikely the came car as K100 No mot from when it ran out in 2010 until next mot in 2016 https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ The cars last mot ran out in 2018. So maybe got stolen and recovered while off the road and not insured. The owner might be selling it as prices have risen and can now recoup some outlay without the hassle of breaking and selling bits separately.

Mine too is a 1992 VR6 that now runs with a coil pack amongst other things. It doesn’t however have AC and has never had it., It has the latter part number FCM you mention as shown in the photo I would think your fan melt down messed your FCM up. I would replace that the fan and the rad sender. You may struggle to get a fan though as they are NLA and consider some aftermarket fans, cowling and wiring.
