  1. got the relay off of EBay mate, says it’s an electronic one. I swapped my front and rears to LEDs and left the side repeaters as were. Front and rear alot brighter than before and seems to flash at the same speed. Probably works no matter what bulb or maybe even if 1 or 2 go out it stays the same I’ll have to check it out. Cost £20 for 4 bulbs and relay. Plug and play bargain Last post one my thread. https://the-corrado.net/topic/86361-my-money-pit/page/8/
  2. Don’t think it’s special other than has 21 stamped on it by VW, unless you want to use LEDs then you need a special one. VW should have them in
  3. It’s not all plain sailing with Mercedes either. I’ve driven merc vans since 1999. The 119 Vito I have now is nearly six year old and has been ace. However the van this one replaced the 118, older shape was not so good, the engine destroyed itself shortly after a service and 2 months out of warranty 38 months old. They wanted 8k for a new engine fitting, I never really liked that van so traded it in for this one, very expensive miss hap. I don’t use the Sheffield dealer anymore if I can help it.
  4. I’d agree that you’d be better with two fans in operation as when the stage 2 fan engages as that’s the idea, one fan isn’t enough as the temp has gone so the rad sender engages the second stage, going from one fan to the other won’t improve your cooling one bit. It’s a nice little project sorting the fans and wiring out. Something else to bear in mind is the auxiliary water pump, you need to see how he’s wired the fans. If he’s bypassed the main fan controller unit chances are this won’t be running if the fans come on when you turn the engine off. You can tell if the auxiliary pump is working by just turning the ignition on without engaging the starter motor, you should hear the pump run for 30 seconds or so, no buzzing and it is duff.
  5. If you’re getting fan action bridging the plug and nothing when driving, as seems to be your issue then the rad temp sender would seem to be at fault. It curious that both don’t come on together for stage 2. I’d look into rewriting it there’s a thread or 2 on it.
  6. Seen this on facefckr and gave it a try. For less than £20 and very easy. Change front and rear bulbs for a pack of four Led ones bought from Amazon. Change the flasher relay on the fuse box under the dash no 21 I think for the relay bought off of EBay. Hey presto, much bright indicators without the need for resistors. Especially happy with how orange they are on the front with the smoked tint
  7. It does look a clean looked after car. As Keyo says bridge the rad switch plug to bring the fans on if they don’t or one doesn’t there an issue with a relay unless he’s wired direct off of the existing fan plug. Do the above test and take some photos of the wiring, there’s a few ways he could have wired it up. When you press the override switch what happens then, do they both come on? You should be able to get both fans on without the ignition on as well simulating after run by bridging the rad sender plug.
  8. Do you have the VW engine harness that sits on the wings to support the engine whilst you get the cross member off? What does this look like, do you have one ?
  9. Love an easy fix for electrics 👍 Can’t be much rot then, must be pretty solid, much more in the pipeline? There’s always something that needs a little attention.
  10. This is a shot of original figment.
  11. That is seriously shiny. Nice photos 👍
  12. Is it me or is it missing the motor. Looks like a hand wind jobby
  13. If not, what about something like Noico 80mil. Will be similar to what you scraped off and easy to apply without getting overspray everywhere.
  14. Your right it’s some sort of bitumen for deadening and anti rust, I didn’t touch that. Put my underlay on top of that
  15. When I did my new carpet from Newton Commercial I also got their delux under carpet set which is 2 layers of sound deadening underlay fibre stuff, used both for both front foot wells and one for the rear. The other I rolled up and shoved under the rear seat cavity. Kept the original centre tunnel sound deadening
  16. Good man. I got the same cup holder and put it in my other one years ago. Very useful addition but the rubber fell to hits in no time, get some gummi on it.
  17. Can’t be many of you one owners left. Looks like you’ve been looking after it well too. I’m guessing coil overs to make it so pretty and some body work done at some point and didn’t put the bump strips back as you liked the cleaner look, as do I.
  18. Very nice additions there. Where did you get them from
  19. As cressa says it’s just a fat o-ring. Any brand will do doesn’t have to be a vw item that cost a fortune.
  20. I wouldn’t recommend anyone use the cheaper fuels on what is an old VR6 set up especially from a supermarket. People have been known to have rotted out fuel gauge senders as well running issues with cars that have used such fuels.
  21. Looks like you’ve looked after it well all those years. Some cars get through in a month the miles that’s done in a decade.
  22. You are definitely not compromising on anything looking at it at the stage it’s at now. Can’t wait to see more 👍
