yeah its about 6 bolts hold em togehter...nothing too techy about em, i was going to rebuild it myself , but i realised i didnt have the tools to get the bearings in/out ...so it went to g werks
-
i think darren will open and inspect a charger for very cheap....im sure he knows whats skimped on their services maybe worth a thought for peace of mind
-
no i cant be bothered really, pitty someone doesnt take legal action against em though im just happy to pass on my experiance so that others can learn rom it and go elsewhere..and whats gona happen in a few years whn some of us start to buy 20v or whatver?? i wont be using jabba again thats for sure mike doesnt build them...his brother in law does :? and i think its cheap parts more than the work itself
-
try some vice grips on it, they often round off
-
ive had the car 5-6 years, i had the charger done at jabba the day i brought it , and again trough the years....its never drove like this i think they used poor quality strips...i opened the charger myself and found the strips were short by maybe 2" in total
-
some of you may remember i had some strange noises coming from my jabba rebuilt charger with less than 10k on it well in the end i had darren at g werks fit a rebuild kit that i already had from KK ..tonight i finished running it in and gave it some beans..i didnt really expect it to go any better as the jabba made 16psi at redline boy was i wrong...it makes ALOT more boost alot sooner and lower revs..makes for a much punchier drive and more fun..although it tops out at around 15-16psi redline...it drives much better so im guessing the oe quality apex strips help make that boost sooner..the car will be more fun to drive now so thanks to darren at g werks :D for sorting my charger(reasonble price too)....and to jabba thanks for raping me on the cheap and nasty parts
-
i run blue ignitors from c&r enterprises, had em getting on 8-9 years with no probs so they must be okay
-
cant seem to make your pic work.....yes its a 13mm allen key, you wont need the brass bit you need for of the brown plastic inserts and a o ring/seal for each of them i did mine a few weeks back...i reckon it was about £10-13 for 4x inserts and seals
-
yeah thats true...i change em on any car i buy
-
i think the test procedure is to bridge the replay so the pump runs( bridge 2 big terminals at fuel pump relay with wire) then hook up a peice of pipe and xx amount of fuel should come out in xx seconds i'll try and look up the figures in a min although as a rule theyre usually shot by 100k , listen out to see if its noisey or is the strainer blocked
-
it usually is the in tank pump that fails first you get at it by un screwing the metal cover under the carpet..the the collar is threaded..you may need to belt it with a screwdriver and hammer ...its all fairly obvious when you get in there...get 2 jubilees incase
-
hmmm bit of a trip huh
-
yeah for sure

im begining to think it may work out cheaper to get it to gwerks...already cost you a fair bit innit
-
id imagine most rollong road place would know what to do i did mine with a wideband tuner...doesnt make a world of differance anyway
-
i dont think a bit of belt is causing your probs....have a look around the pulleys, is there loads of blask dust form the belt?
-
rubber smell huh...could it be a tyre rubbing..are you running the car really low and or wide tyres oil at the front..could be a power steering pipe or charger trouble, ive just had to go elsewhere(g werks) to get mine done properly after less than 10k on a jabba rebuild...or maybe your ic pipes were full of oil from before the charger was done
-
glad you sorted :)
-
make sure you turn it over by hand a few turns ...make sure your 100% happy with the timing marks before starting the tension can be fine tuned after youve had a listen to it running
-
have a look at the gearbox...snaped or loose cable id imagine
-
gsf for the parts as said a mk2 golf or passat haynes will be fine there is a special tool for the tensioner , but you can use circlip pliers or even a kitchen fork with 2 ends bent over...youl see better when you have it apart , you just need 2 prongs to fit into the holes when you tension it..have a listen it shouldnt howl
-
i had that fisrt link pipe on a golf...slightly more noisey on motorway trips, but no power differance that youd notice, as i changed back to a silencer when it rotted
-
mounts are all good anyone had a rod change mk2 golf....mine feels just like a rod box when the linkages are shot to bits
-
ive worked in garages all my life....ive tried plenty of mk3 vr6 golfs and a few c's.....none felt like mine one more point to add..if i play around with ajustments, it feels great stood still engine off...then totaly differant when i get down the road
