  1. the bolts are a sod to get undone, i go at the downpipe joint first, you will a wobble extension bar ....lots of wearing helps a vw headgaskety maybe a good idea...get the rest at gsf you will probably need a few new exhaust studs/nuts while your there good luck..its not too bad a job
  2. alot of people are also ignorant to these things, i only noticed a noise because im VERY picky , youd never hear any problems over the noise of an induction kit like i say, it wasnt leaking oil eveywhere, and made what appeared to be good boost i think the way they get away with the work is often the car changes hands before the trouble sets in..and most new owners have the charger looked over to be safe
  3. 19 pages and how much ££££ a little knowledge is a bad thing...glad its going now :) i done a similar thing with a 8v golf years back, i had one of them timing lights with advance knob, id dialed in 6deg and used the 6 deg mark on the flywheel instead of 0 ..only way to learn i spose
  4. yeah theres plenty of people that will buy the induction kit theyre bad beacuse they they let the heat through and that type of filter doesnt keep out fine dust /dirt ....basicly yeah they just took your money , i spose most folk think an induction kit will make it faster and they take advantage of you :( ring darren and have a chat...he's approacable enough and im sure he'l try and sort you out as for the chip question...the sns are safter for your engine , a chip that goes lean can cause damage ..and the tensioners jabba fit are frowned on by a few people
  5. well all i can say is it made a big differance to my charger...the old one made 16psi at redline....but its night and day differance now, i drove out like a nutter in it last night smiling all the way and for the 1st ever in that car(ive had it 5-6 yrs) i went to change from 3rd to find out it was alredy in 5th those induction kits wont help power or the life of your charger.you be best with the orig air box, id ebay it and stick your old box back on if you still have it same with their chip..ebay it and get a sns good luck with it all..i kept thinking mine would be okay, but getting it done was the best thing ive done to that car
  6. and with a vag unit you can trust it...you do hear of problem with so called tuners and engine refurb places
  7. what did you spend the £1000 on mate?? im still smiling at how much better my car in going now, its made a big differance , and to think ive been missing out on all this extra power because i chose the wrong company to build my charger keith ...lets keep sreading the word, goes to show how much they care , you dont see them on any forum at all
  8. yeah thats what i meant..head and block
  9. what you gona do mate?? send it back?
  10. vw engines arent too bad...saw an ad for £1400 complete new g60 whole engine my mate at vw recons alot of the ones they get in are infact brand new and not rebuilt either way a vag engine has gota last really well
  11. its normal for the oil to get that hot when driven hard for a while, you'l be fine with a oil cooler
  12. looking for a g60 knock sensor...wheres the cheapest place to go?
  13. maybe worth considering a cam belt and a new timing belt for the charger...thing like that can rot when stood do some local trips and keep an eye on things incase it pops a hose or something like that
  14. oh no seriously guys...i wonder if trading standards or someone should be contacted about the poor work/
  15. goodridge i got my bits from kompressor canada, and ebay.de also has stuff or bar-tek in germany thing is, if id done it myself i would have maybe saved £100 or so, but when faced with a bag of bits i dont know a top quality apex strip from a cheap n nasty one..same with the bearings and oil seals. i mean you/i could do an ace job of building it , only to be let down by rubbish parts hopefully darren has enough experiance and pride in his work to know whats good and whats not for our chargers .hopefully this time mine will last closer to 40k than 10k
  16. goodridge.....i fully intended to rebuild mine myself, i went to the trouble of importing a rebuild kit and got as far as opening it up in the end i decided there was too much to lose if i made a simple mistake, and luckily g werks were happy to take over if you price up good quality parts , theres not much in it considering you'l have a come back if someone else does it
  17. are any of the bushes poly?? if so drown em in spray grease, theyre know for creaking
  18. do you drive hard with a cold engine? the oil pressure is pretty high when cold
  19. keith did yours have some vag oil seals in it...cant help thinking they wouldnt have sourced genuine stuff, if there was cheapies to be had
  20. prob the switch at the lower corner of the rad
  21. i dont think it does....have you tried a new cap
  22. i think having too much boost without being able to get it through the engine is a waste....the head kinda makes a bottle neck after a certain point, i hear the beetle crossflow heads flow better didnt realise vr's revved to 7k, charged vr's sound nice though huh
  23. they go a bit higher than 16....mine has a 68mm pulley, alot of guys run 65 and you hear of smaller than that! i noticed tonight ,min was hitting 12 as soon as i stepped on the gas, pretty good tbh
  24. i think its mainly the apex strips wear with age, and oil seals leak...most of the bearing are fed oil from the engine , the other 2 are prob worth doing as a precaution and higher spec ones are avail now
