  2. google images "g60 timing belt marks" shows a few , the marks are pretty obvious in the case
  3. marks in the castings if i remmeber at 12 o clock on a clock face , deffo needs to be lined up rotate by hand and check again , theres no way to ajust the tension
  4. fuel pump relay , lift pump , dodgy dizzy , dirty ecu connectors /any connector batt cable
  5. so now crank it a bit and see if the plugs /pistons are dry or wet or pull an inj and point it in a jam jar and see if its working
  6. is the fuel pump priming /buzzing when you first turn the key? could have a look down the plug hole after cranking with a torch and see if its wet or not
  7. same sort of idea, theres a crimp that goes on the bare wire and another that gets the insulation or rubber seal proper crimpers do it all in one , if you plan to be around old vw's for a while its worth getting the proper crimpers
  8. like so http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LASER-TOOLS-1913-CRIMPING-PLIERS-RATCHET-NON-INSULATED-/310452225167 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140938481520 seller has other pins etc too
  9. you idealy want the proper crimpers for them as well...vw sell the pins if you wanted you could reuse the housings
  10. number 5 the stud/bolt thing does screw in , theres nothing there that you fix with a hammer take a decent photo and post it up
  11. bad earth can frazzle the ecu and cause them to flood bad
  12. yeah its as straight forward as that really...notice the filter probably has an arrow on it , and be prepard to catch a small amount of spillage
  13. mines a golf g60 , 68mm pulley and it hits around 15psi / 1 bar got mine for the same reason so i can see if something is up ...belt slip you would see lots of blask dust around the pulley
  14. http://www.egauges.com/ this place has the best choice...but its gona cost £££ with posty
  15. prob get stung import tax on that plus with mods you might touch just over 15psi i went with a bar one , what with germans being all metric n such lol this is mine ..plus a new lense for £3 and a bulb holder http://www.ebay.de/itm/VDO-Mechanische-Ladedruckanzeige-1-bis-1-5-Bar-Cockpit-International-52mm-12V-/350941240995?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item51b5ba5ea3
  16. tread carefully with vdo's ive been through about 4 of em to get one i liked firstly watch out as alot of them are electronic so you need a £60 sender to run it , and alot of them come bare so £12 add on for a bulb kit , another £15 for a hose and threaded ends , also make sure its not a fixed colour illumitaion then next problem , i found one that i liked and it has some horrible plastic lense that never showed up in the photos , its like anti glare i assume but just looked greasy in the end after much looking around i found a seller on ebay that does proper glass lenses and swapped it over , took the oppertunity to paint my needle while its apart try ebay.de - search vdo ladedruckanzeige , at least theres no import tax from there
  17. had a 3 box jetex on my golf g60 so maybe very similar system apart from the hangers it was very loud, like boy racer sounds not a sporty sound , was unbareable on the motorway as it had a savage droan right around 70-80 would not reccomend at all...also had a massive dent put in it to clear the rear beam
  18. yeah says alot that matt shows up on forums offering advice and help
  19. theres also a few companys in germany that will do them , postage isnt much differant to uk
  20. terrible customer service a few years back...couldnt care less attitude id suggest taking it off diy or at a local garaage and send it in somewhere that actualy wants the work
  21. good service will never hurt ...but keep an eye on the coolant level as the headgasket might be going or a leak that needs fixing as much as wel love these cars theyre not that fast compared to modern stuff no vw will wont look at the charger , theres a guy on here that rebuilds them
  22. if you cant make it any closer by moving it a tooth then yeah it must be right , slightly off the mark is acceptable as the head may have been skimmed tightness wise should be able to turn it 90 degs with your fingers on the straight side of the belt...but some people are stronger than others lol...it will howl if its too tight the nut..im sure someone will along with a torque setting , but yeah good n tight with a normal size spanner , no need to go mental at it
  23. line it up..put car in gear does take a bit of practice first time round , wind it round clockwise several times, recheck it and so on dont start it until youre double sure its 100% right
  24. been using it latley as it was on sale in costco our polo had a noisy tappet and it silenced that straight away..no scientific evidence i know but the engine sounds happy with it
