Setting the ignition timing/possible boost problems/Tappets
steveo29 replied to laurielaeks's topic in Engine Bay
usualy have to put vice grips on the lower part of the dizzy and wrestle it free , soak it in penetrating oil first , might also need to move the fan housing to get a swing on it -
worst i guess would be swell all the rubber parts in the engine and find they all leak 6/12 months down the road ?
-
if its a small leak id wait until you can fix it properly
-
its just the hel ones...no one else makes them
-
theres some company on clubgti sells replacements , they look pretty shonky though and they dont have the shaped metal pipe at each end best with a used set until someone can be bothered to make a accurate set
-
doesnt have that either lol
-
id not worry about not having a charger on , many folk "bypass" the charger when its blown and run the car without it

Any precautions after being SORN for 12 months

just so some local trips , theres a chance brakes could bind on etc , so keep local until you trust it -
from memory its around 8 or 9 psi...even full boost doesnt mean its in good health , best have some one that knows about them to take it apart at least inspect it if thats still too much , the small timing belt can be diy replaced for about £10 and would at least eliminate that from failing
-
most chargers had that from the factory assume no unless you have written proof
-
thanks for posting , its a bit steep ive seen whole boxes as low as £65 was kinda hoping someone had a damaged box laying around
-
i need a 2000 onwards shift tower from a 02j box , would consider whole box if cheap so thats stuff like mk4gti , cupra 20vt, audi tt looks like this
-
no such thing as a de cat version..just get a bosch replacement
-
done all mine with 4 gauge ...way thicker than the puny std stuff
-
did it go ok with a crowsfoot?
-
they dont fit ...theres plenty of 16v parts avail , is there a reason you wish to struggle fitting the worngs parts to you r car
-
unless its a 16v rocco it wont fit the rado

looks like its leaning back a touch ...id have it set up dead vertical over the lifting hooks -
could try a quick run with the cap off the fuel tank to see if it changes , shouldnt be massive pressure there
-
id get on ebay.de , most will send here if asked and the prices are sometimes better than here cant help with the german word for g60...i just search until i see the pic then copy the words into the search box
-
has it had fresh fuel ? mine ran stupid rich with some stale fuel lol , spent a bit trying to fix that and it sorted itself with some new petrol
-
did it just happen ..or bought like it ? could there be a aftermarket chip in the ecu thats not matched to the engine , or was the mixture ever set up
-
usualy they flood badly and wont run if the ecu is damaged in that way yes check the earths , they all need to be a1 , if its still doing it you can pull the lambda plug and see if the emisions go down and the blue temp senders can cause probs on these , worth fitting a new genuine brand one , not ebay rubbish
-
you dont reset these ecu's once its got full battery charge it will come out of limp mode assuming theres no other faults
