Just picked up the renewal letter and it was actually £930 they wanted, so over twice what I payed with Greenlight.:bonk:
-
Welcome aboard. I see you Joined 4 years ago but still don't own one. Time to get that fixed, you won't regret it. I came back from an S4 as there is just something about them. If you are ever in Exeter give me a shout and you could come have a poke round mine.
-
Markerstudy through Sky sent me a renewal quote of £850ish for the Corrado. This is more than I was paying on my S4 so I thought I would try Greenlight. £454 all mods declared with a power of 360bhp quoted. Filled out the form online and they called me back a few hours later. Very helpful and took only 8 minutes from calling to being all payed up for the year. Doubt I would have got it cheaper elsewhere so didn't even bother to shop around as this seemed very competitively priced. So thanks to Greenlight.

GT3582r @ 14-15psi so nothing crazy. May dial it back 1 or 2 psi though when fixed. Also running the low final drive. Was considering going back to normal VR final drive or longer 5th at some point, but then there will be more strain on all gears/5th, so probably won't risk it.
-
No worries, will check with VW. Just had a poke around and am wondering if its possible to do insitu. Seems as though there may be enough room if the arch liner is removed to get to 5th without the need to remove the box. Anyone done this?
-
Cheers for that Dox. Any ideas on a rough price for the parts to do the 5th gear ratio change? Already running a low final drive making it pretty revvy whilst cruising, so this would be good if not too costly.
-
You have pm Paul. Had a quick google and changing 5th gear looks pretty easy. Anyone know what size multi spline is needed as it wasn't mentioned in the guide I found.
-
How difficult is it to fit a new 5th, and 3rd while its apart as that grinds on fast changes.
-
Was just overtaking quite hard in 5th when it went bang. All other gears are fine but there is now nothing in 5th. No grinding or anything. Ideas as to what has happened?
-
You lived in Plymouth at some point I am guessing? That bloody great wheel wasn't there last time I went down the Hoe.
-
Cheers mate.
-
If you could give that a quick measure I would appreciate it. :)
-
The big bit. I would just pull it off and measure, but if someone knows it will save me messing with the coolant.
-
Anyone know or able to measure the internal diameter of the top rad hose from a VR? Thinking of fitting one of these so I can wire up my VDO water temp gauge I have lying around.

Never managed to get the wideband working, think the control box may have been kaput, so I just went and ordered a whole new kit, the newer MTX-L version. Could have ended up being costly trying to figure out what was wrong with the old one. Yeah, 1144 were in there but they had worn really unevenly, were getting low and the disks were almost smooth, so dead too. Think the brackets on the brakes are a bit thin and flex hence the uneven pad wear. I also had to get the pads turned down. A guy off my local forum offered to do it for me. Luckily his boss was away as he ended up going through £100 worth of tooling :suprised:

Volt gauge turned up today so fitted that. Not got round to fitting the senders on the other 2 yet but will be getting them wired in soon. The wideband gauge never worked since buying the car so ordered a new Innovate MTX-L and fitted it last week.

Went out to bed my new front brakes in yesterday and they are very good pads, just got better and better the hotter they got. Not sure what they will be like from cold though, will find out when I next take the car out. Only thing is they are not the most progressive, as the car slowed the harder they broke. Good in an emergency stop situation I guess. 312mm Mtec disks and Ferodo DS2.11 pads.

Just found one of the VDO adapters from an air cooled specialist after hunting through google images. -

No, the whole area is a no go thanks to the oil pipes. Just found this on google which would be perfect, but can't find it in any hydraulic fixtures catalogues. -

Cheers but that looks too tall, needs to be much shorter otherwise it will hit the pipes above the oil filter housing. -
Just been out to fit my new oil pressure sender to find oil pipes running to the oil cooler in the way. The sender is too tall to fit. Need some kind of 90 degree adapter so I can run it horizontally if possible. Something like this, but less flimsy and more suitable like a hydraulic connector. http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/90_DEGREE_Swivel_Male_Concave_Seat_M10_x_1_PSBF07 Searched google and ebay with no luck. Anyone have any links to what I am after, or is it a case of trying places like Pirtec to see if they have what I need.

Didn't think I would but a 430bhp S4 wasn't enough to keep me away, there is just something about them that tells me you'll be back. :thumbleft:

A used set of these for a RHD sold on ebay last night for £385 :silly:

Ideally VDO but anything will do, just don't want to be paying the £60+ for a new VDO one.
