  1. Gotta get the VR in it first. probably won't do the 4WD until next winter. I'll see this season out in 2WD first. You don't need the remap with the VGI.
  2. I don't think I personally would pay that much for one, but i Know mine was WELL worth what I paid. Then again, I spent £2600 on a friggin gearbox!! but I'm glad I did that instead of spending £3500 on a supercharger. Whatever floats your boat really, I'm more into throttle response and grunt than peaky top end power and turbo lag.
  3. how can you NOT like induction roar?
  4. click on the link to the Clubgti thread, it'all all on there.
  5. it's not about the BHP, it'a about the 30lbs/ft of midrange torque it gives. Nothing else is going to give you that for the money (except maybe nitrous). They used to be £1750+VAT, I think they about £1450+VAT now. Hahaha, I paid £430 for mine! :-P
  6. If it's not banging on the rear axle, it's touching the rear bumper (melting and vibrating it), and if it's not doing that, then it's practically scraping on the floor! (my mate said he regularly sees sparks flying out the back of the car on bumpy roads!) stupid design, I'm going side exit.
  7. I asked then to make me and 02C fitment diff (vr6 syncro), I even said I'd supply all the parts so they can measure off them, and the whole gearbox so they could get it right, and explained that all I needed was a slight alteration to the diff casing, it needed extending and a few splines machining in. Now, this is after I'd already bought an 02A diff off them (which they wouldn't take back either). They said they wouldn't do it as they don't get enough enquireis about rally and vr6 syncro diffs, to which I replied "but you would if it was in your catalogue". they said they weren't interested. so, I sold the unused quaife diff fr a £100 loss, and spnet £750 on a Peloquin one from the states. A few months later, quaife started making them for the 02c.......w4nkers, wouldn't touch them again. In fact, I'm highly offended when anyone suggests I have a quaife gearbox. shame that Peloquin can't sell his diffs direct to the UK due to patent laws (which Quife america forgot to take out over ther, bwahahaha). in contract, I spoke to Gary peloquin drectly, he ensured my diff whas exactly what I needed, supplied it with ring gear bolts, bearings and a speedo gear, and even rang me on my mobile, all the was from the states, to let me know how my order was going. I can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever boughy for the car, and apart from my bank cocking up my international bankers draft, the whole order process was faultless.
  8. nope. only got the one, my own, and that has a bit missing off the side of the pulley.

    typical aint it

How did yo manage to snap that? don't you use a torque wrench?
  10. Just found this on the CGTI forum. I think it's been set up by thte http://www.vr6golf.co.uk forum, thought I'd pass it on. Vince @ Stealth Racing is offering a group buy for the Shrick Manifold for the Golf VR6. The terms are; 1: Our price will be £1080 Inc vat but + £11.75 carriage if you wish to have it delivered to your door as opposed to collecting. This price stands if 10-19 units are ordedered. If 20 + are ordered then the price may come down a little more 2: It is not absolutley essential that the car gets remapped (chipped) immediatley altough desirable at some point. Some cars will be better than others on the current chip. Point to look out for would be pinking at or near the 3000rpm point,(normally 75% + throttle position) this is not good, the engines do have knock sensors but if pinking is evident it means that they are just not coping. If remaps are required then I will deal with you on a one to one basis for your requiremants. Current prices are £375 + vat for a Unichip (piggy back type ECU) . This type of ECU is usefull if you intend on further mods as it can be readjusted later on at just the cost of an hour or two on the rollers. Or you can have your existing ECU remapped at £350 + vat, This is done by Geoff (ex AMD at our premises). It's going to be difficult to get you all to chip at the same time so I will offer a discount to all manifold purchasers as and when you require. I'm not sure exactly of remap discounts at the moment but £50 off each of the above prices seems feasible. 3: If fitting of the manifold is required then we will charge £100 + vat for this service. 4: If you prefer DIY fit then I will offer technical advice to anyone who needs it, just telephone me. 5: 20% deposit will be required at time of ordering or payment in full, you choose? Best Regards Vince Saiya Stealth Racing
  11. try citroen Xantia claipers (or is it XM?), they have the hnadbrake mech on the front calipers.
  12. I woulnd't personally touch Quaife with a sh1tty stick. but I can get Peloquins for around £500, including bearings and ring gear bolts
  13. yep, sounds about right, he told me it was 10 this lunchtime
  14. Phat, you don't know the half of it! ;) J-DUB's now been off the road for nearly 7 months and will be a totally different beast when she hits the road again... 8) Excitement doesn't even come close to the feeling I'll have.... :D [/quote:3d5ab] I bet you're getting a rise on at the mere thought of it! 'sex wee' imminent  *mod edit - Sorted the quote for you - Henny*
  15. You can read an hear all you possibly can about them, but nothing will prepare you for the feeling you get when you first notice the improvement it makes. Henny, you'll sh1t yourself with excitement, I swear you will. you car will feel so much quicker because the power is so more useable.
  16. We need a group buy on Quaife/Peloquin torque biasing differentials. i can get them for $700 plus shipping, roughly £480 all in, Qauifes work out about £700 all in with bolts and stuff, plus fitting. Until you have driven a VR6 with one of these you can't truly say you've explored it's handling ability. I can't express enough how good they make the car feel and the grip they provide. I can catagorically state that ALL fwd cars bordering on 200bhp or more NEED a proper diff to enable them to be driven properly. Look at the Focus RS, the ITR, both have one.....both legendary FWD cars.....as was the corrado VR6 in it's day. Love your corrado, buy it a proper diff :lol (and no, I don't work for quaife of peloquin transaxles! but I would if I could)
  17. check to see that your air flow meter is plugged in correctly. give the connector a good squirt inside with WD40 and make sure it's clipped in right.
  18. I'd give stealth a ring if I were you. Now you've said that I'd very much doubt Vince would get it wrong. you need to read the fault codes.
  19. Try a corrado VR6 with a Quaife diff (like the ITR has) and then see which one you prefer....that's what's giving the ITR it's advantage....
  20. Haven't even fitted the VR6, let alone the 4WD! Giving up the booze sounds like a better idea...
  21. sounds like they've got the cam timing a tooth out to me. easily done.
  22. The 30% discount is confirmed. a lad of the CGTI forum knows the guys at Amber, so he said we can hvae the 30% regardless of how many orders are placed!!
  23. this group buy is now active. 4/5 orders have already gone in today. keep them coming guys.
