  1. Just stuck them on my 6" polishing mop, just being very careful not to hold the lights in one place for too long and not press them into the mop too hard. only took an hour.
  2. no, yo're right, it'll be blacked out too when I get time. I've only had them an hour!
  3. Got these today. I decided they were decent quality, but the chrome was minging and cheap looking, so I polished it all off. Now nice shiny plastic, better than painting them. Need some silver bulbs now, and get the wiring soldered in and I'm ready to fit them. Although i might tint the top half a little bit, they are a bit too chrome for me.
  4. the vw motorsport 6 speed and torque biasing diff might have given me a 'slight' advantage too! :)
  5. I "heard" a corrado VR6 top hose was £75!!!!
  6. well if they aren't they can f*ck right off! I haven't got any hoses at all, what am I supposed to do now!
  7. do i reall need to point out the minr differences between a mk2 golf and a corrado? thing is, it's easy to take a comparison against a corrado vR6, they are standard cars, not so with the mk2 VR6, they are all different, and there is a lot of variables to take into account, plus they are all hand built (or bodged?). you get good ones, you get awful ones.... and who's to say 50/50 is necessarily the best? in that situation you have to brake hard to get the front wheels to grip when you turn in. if you've already got the weight there then don't turn in on the brakes, eae off them slightly as yo turn in to balance the car up a bit. You can learn to drive around the different weight distribution. not all cars drive tha same. at then end of the day, I've built owned and driven 2 of them over the last 5 years, and I think they they handle just fine. for a one off drive it might not be to your liking, you can feel the extra weight, but you can drive around it, and the grunt of the VR6 more that makes up for it.
  8. cheers, that really helps us all get a 25% discount...

  12. This is the samco page off amber's website. the same as everwhere else, hence the need for a group buy to get them cheaper. http://www.amber-performance.co.uk/site/vw/samco.php
  13. Group buy has now ended, thanks for your support. http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12495 for all details and updates
  14. No...not for me, I'm well happy with mine. It's for a mate of mine who's out in the UAE at the mo. Red 1994M 2.0 16v, a 70K FSH minter apparently. I'm actually all excited about it, how sad is that!
  15. it was a mk4, but only a 1.4L (I was poor back then).
  16. LOL! hmm, let me think, my second only ever attempt at a track day.....and I hadn't even had the tracking setup on the car. and at curborough, i was banned and hadn't even driven a car for 6 weeks..... or maybe it handles well because it hasn't got enough power to spin the wheels in anything other than 1st gear.....
  17. I used to have a diamond white escort too! I did the decent thing and wrapped it around a lamppost
  18. my cam belt tensioner was squealing like mad when I revved it over 2500rpm. took the blet cover off to check if it was the tensioner, and it seized right in front of my eyes!! with the enging off, have a good twist and tug on all of the belts and see if any are worn or slack.
  19. gutted! you should have been more bold. it's easy to get cash these days, that car sounded WELL worth the money.
  20. My mate would have the box off you I bet. He's already got some wheels like that, but not QUITE as wide
  21. If you decide to take the engine out and sell the shell then let me know.
  22. no chance, I'd rather sell them instead! :-P
  23. I'm going to get some Zymol. I've never had a dark car before, so I didn't realise just how much difference a good polish makes.
  24. Well I don't need 2 sets! so I'll bear that in mind.
  25. explain how I managed to get a 3rd place at the ClubGTI scottish national day and 4th quickest lap at curborough in a stripped out mk2 golf vr6 with no weight at all in the rear then? oh, and if that's the case, then my 2.0 8v corrado must handle better than all your cars becasue it's got the lightest engine.........
