corrado fuel sender is completely incompatible with R32 Clocks.
-
nothing wrong with that, i've used spanners before!
-
For thickness, just measure the slot in the cam, and make it a tiny bit thinner than that. Here's a REAL one. Disclaimer: I didn't do that drawing! (only saying that, as I'm a draughstman by trade, so I have to distance myself from that particular peice of artwork.)

Stereo stays on even after I take key out the ignition...
PhatVR6 replied to Jim's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Mk2 golfs never had an ignition live to the stereo, I can't remeber what my corrado was like! -
I was going to keep mine a secret, but seeing as everyone else is going for them I might as well show you now. Will get a pic tomorrow.

Did you know that VAG do a baffled sump for the VR6?
PhatVR6 replied to PhatVR6's topic in Engine Bay
my bike has a dry sump basically the oil is stored in a tank up on the back of the engine. this drains down to feed the main oil pump. there is still a sump on the engine, but it's very very shallow, and has a scavenging oil pump to take the oil and pump it back up the the tank. benefits being, there is no oil surge as the sump is always full, and much improved ground clearance (as onmy bike the exhuasts go under the engine. -
best time in my corrado as a VR6 was 14.3, identical time with the R32 lump before I got it running properly. all time best is 13.73 in my old mk2 VR6.

wheel whore go for more dish

Dunno if it'll fit yet, but I don't see why not. Audi A3 3.2 V6 , alloy sump, but it it a shallower profiule, and has plastic baffles in it. You'd have to use the shorter oil pump too, but could be an option for any track day goers out there (my oil light came on a few times at croft on my 4Mo)

perfect as they are. don't do gold bolts, pretty please!
-
awesome! can't believe how easily that thing can spin those wheels. nice flameouts too.

and pop into mine on the way home to pick up a 24v and some 4wd for yourself!

Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!

why didn't you just fit VR6 ratios and FD? -
the dip is probably the inelt manifold changeover point. look at any curve from a shricked VR, same dip around 4000. but show me a 12V with that sort of torque and power......24v's are good value when you consider second hand schrick manifolds are around the £800-900 mark.

I've got a lighetened flywheel for sale, PM me.
-
moved it over a bit, dragged the R32 lump past it so it can go in the 4mo, then dragged the new Audi 3.2 lump past it and started stripping off all the bits I'm not using.
-
isn't it just like a 16v with an extra cylinder on the end?
-
same as a VR6 conversion would be. get the vr6 subframe and mounts.

Strength. It'd always bugged me that I never paid the extra £300 for the uprated input shaft (and subsequently the 1st and 2nd gears as they are machined directly onto it) when I had the box built. I just couldn't afford to go for it, and at the time I was still for a FWD golf so I didn't think i'd need them. A £1500 gear kit, £600 diff and £400 rebuild (all plus VAT) on top of another VR6 box (as the old one blowing wrecked the casing) and a £370 Helix clutch was a fair bill to stomach in one go! and i never even used it! i sold the unused Quaife Diff at a loss and had the VR6 syncro bell housing and Peloquin (another £700!) fitted a year later, again, kicking myself afterwards for not buying the input shaft. It bugged me even more once I finally drove the car and sampled the delightful sound of semi-straight cut gearing, which I only had in 3rd-6th. I really missed the noise not being there in 1st and 2nd. I loved the Gemini, to this day is is still the best tuning part I have ever bought, and never ever planned on selling it, in fact I was hunting for the uprated shaft but couldn't find one, then the Quaife came up for grabs at a show, so I found a buyer for mine and bought it. It came with a Helix clutch and lightened flywheel too, so once I've sold those it will have probably cost me the £300 difference the uprated shaft for the gemini would have in the first place! and it's a full straight cut dog engagment box, which I know has had nearly 500bhp put through it so I know it can handle it. Shame it has a 4.2 final drive in it....a tad short.

Finally the new Dub Project.... Another set of wheels!

you forgot to take the badges off! any damage from that blind clown hitting your bumper at the weekend? -
SP50 is "breaking the motorway speed limit". that's al I know, becaus eit's the only one I've even been convicted for (convicted, sounds awful when you use that word doesn't it). I still think it's disgustong that insurance companies want to go back 5 or 6 years, when they are clear off your licence in 3 (in which case, why should they have a right to know of anything outside 3 years)

You need to re code the CAN level to stop it beeping like mad at you. It's beeping because it's panicking as it can't find all thoe other components it'd usually like to talk to.

Yeah, that was another one. Saw it in the trader, rang the guy and drove from York to the Wirral then next night to see it!. Ben, pretty hard getting good pics in the garage. There's only so far away you can get away from the car before you hit a wall. Should start seeing some real progress over xmas, got 2 weeks off. Hopefully they won't have completely shut down the workshop at work so I can get in and powdercoat the whole running gear whilst nobody is looking ;-)

Hard work, contacts and I don't waste time. I get off my butt in the early hours of the morning or late at night and will drive anywhere in the country (or Europe even!) to get stuff if it's what I want and at the right price. I don't ring the seller up a million times asking stupid questions either. People are always asking me how I manage to 'find' so many good parts and bargains, the simple answer is that I LOOK for them and then go for them! Mind you, it is handy having a mate who make trailers for a living. I can borrow just about any sized trailer I want (including car trailers), and having a Golf Country on LPG makes for a fantastic cheap to run towing vehicle too. I've done 1000 miles in it in the last week picking stuff up! (40p a litre, mint :-) ) Anyone can do it, you just have to be brave and break the bank once in a while, then try and sell some stuff afterwards to pay for it! if you think "I can't afford that yet unless I sell XXX" then you don't get the deal, people beat you to it. I don't have a lot of money, but I know how to raise some as and when I need to, so I can build myself cars that I'd otherwise never dream of being able to afford to own.
