  1. Just a thought here, the vr6 was considered the best fwd car in the 90's right? Yet its well known that the valver handles better? Interesting thought, probably just opened a can of trouble with the v6 owners now
  2. Hello fellow doonhamer, i'm from dumfries myself originally :) Plenty corrados in scotland, more than you think and some real nice ones too! Most people i've come across start with the valver but always end up trading in for the vr6, don't get me wrong the whirrr of the 6 cylinder is enough to want one but i'm happy with the old 16v. Having never owned a vr6 i can't say for sure but the valver isn't as simple as the vr, the injection system is a bit of a faf and a rubber belt aint the best but i do enjoy wringing it's neck
  3. Never thought about using 8v stuff, interesting idea and another thing for me to read up on. There are two reasons for wanting rid of the k-jet, the first one is because its a total ballache to work with and the other is it just takes up way too much room in the engine bay. As it's all working i'll stick with it but in the end i'd like a clean engine bay with the minium of pipes and wires.
  4. That's just across the bridge for me, about 30min away and funny enough just across from where i bought my valver from :) Found a valver in dumfries but it sat for only 2 weeks before it was crushed, got a lot from it but failed to pull the subframe and steering rack from it. The weather didn't help and the usuall crusty vw bolt saga took up most of my time. Thanks again.
  5. More great information, thanks mate. 2nd hand cheap thrills are what i'm looking for so mk3 or g60 sounds like the plan. Cupra brembos sound like the dogs danglies but a bit out my budget. The valver set up is shockingly poor IMO so it's the first upgrade on the list :) ---------- Post added at 06:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:55 PM ---------- Is this what i'm looking for? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-IBIZA-CUPRA-R-TURBO-BACK-BUMPER-BREAKING-SPARES-/250963879257?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a6e9ce559
  6. Doh! Of course , g60 brakes would be the way to go. Ebay search comming right up :) ---------- Post added at 10:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:58 AM ---------- Twin pot calipers? On Ebay.
  7. I think the car i got on the 2nd belonged to ubermoose, just to let you know.
  8. Very nice wheel choice, i had thought of them myself so yeah, pictures please
  9. Thanks guys, I've been looking for this info for a while now. The 288s sound like a challenge so I might go down that route but it sounds like living with the ballaxe (lol) 9a might be easier as I've got 2 of them. I have come across this megasquirt before but I haven't a clue where to start, the price might decide for me but I'll look into it. At the end of the day it would be nice to have a reliable 16v with maybe a little retro tunning once the main jobs are done. Much appreciated elliott
  10. Just a quick question, can i convert my 9a to run ABF didipants injection and is it possible to run golf 288 brakes up front but keep the 4 stud option. Just collecting parts the now but one day i'd like a good car :) Thanks chaps...

Short journeys and not used daily will always give you problems, especially in the winter. Try scanning the abs first, if it works then all you'll need to do is change the baud and do the ignition trick to scan the engine :)

Something seriously wrong if the battery goes flat that quickly? You don't need the car running to be able to read the ecu. Don't do a full scan, just select the module you want. Only 2 anyhow, abs or engine and to do the engine you'll need to change the baud rate to 4800 and then do the ignition on while trying to connect or else you'll just get an error.
  13. Just the one click when braking? My old estate does it, it's just the pads moving in the calipers, I ended up welding a little blob on the pads and then buffing them to fit.

Yeah that's the website, you want the free lite version for dumb interfaces. It'll give you the codes but you'll need to look up what some of them mean.

I've never used the reader but have had no bad experiences with the cheap blue cable, You'll need a laptop to hand for the usb cable and i know you can adjust baud rates and latency really easily on the laptop however i'm unsure what the reader is capable of. An N reg corrado wouldn't need the adapter but to double check just unclip the gear stick surround and have a look. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?4948-VAG-COM-scanning-amp-help ---------- Post added at 12:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 PM ---------- [quote=;766906]I'm running rich at the moment too - one of my mates was cycling behind me one day and nearly suffocated I think My plugs are clean though and I seem to get good mpg on long runs, just very poor around town. Useful to know about the cold start valve - I'll check that out. Was disappointed to learn that my KR won't work with VAG-COM - would have made diagnosing a bit easier! Yeah the kr has no obd so a good tune up is all you'lll need. I had a sirocco with k-jet many years ago and i remember something about a fuel mixture adjustment screw on the air/fuel meter but it was many years ago.
  16. Words can't describe this feeling huh? Another generation of d**k heads that shouldn't be allowed to breed. I've got a couple of extra wings in green but one has rust and a VR6 (shiny) leather steering wheel?

The software is free to download and the cable should cost no more than a tenner from ebay. It's a blue usb cable and depending on the age of your car you'll also need the 2+2 adaptor. It's not just as easy to plug and scan the valver but it's possible once you know how. If you get the correct cables I'm more than happy to help.

It's on the right hand side next to the isv. It has a blue connecter I think but doesn't sound like your problem. Check the wiring around the throttle body, there is a connector on the underside. A scan with vag com might be needed and would save you time and money.

The 16v is famous for it, does it start fine when cold and struggle when hot? Or is it hard to start all the time?
  20. Hello and welcome, sounds like an interesting project, any pictures? Sorry i can't help but you're in the right place for answers. Check this website out, it's given me a few ideas http://corradoracecar.blogspot.com/
  21. Get the spanners out lad! Nothing major equals what exactly?
  22. UIJ 643 Green corrado spotted in Cumbernauld village, parked up with no rear bumper.
  23. Oh the joys of the 4 hourly feeds, congratulations! My wee one will be 2 soon and she already knows exactly which is daddys car lol.
  24. Nappies? Have you been busy easypops? The car is a '92 so has the same running gear as mine but the inside is of the early type. It's in rough condition but not that bad really. I hate to end a cars life but financially it makes sense so I'm going to try and make one good car out the two. Sounds easy huh? ---------- Post added at 10:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 AM ---------- Yeah, picked it up from a nice chap in Penrith. No heater so it was a cold but very reliable journey up the m74.
  25. It's worth checking the wire that runs down the front struts on each side, one of mine turned out to be faulty and caused me some headache trying to track down the intermittent light.
