  1. Ignore that Chris - confused you with Tony Langdon!
  2. Good find xbones. All the info is in that thread, I'll just add a couple of things. To connect from the guage to the glove box light crimp a piggy back terminal onto the wire from the guage then simply remove the existing terminal from the glove box light, connect the piggy back terminal to it and then put the original glove box terminal onto the piggy back terminal. To connect the sender which has binding post terminals, crimp a ring terminal onto the sender wire from the guage and then make up a small loom with a female spade one end and a ring terminal the other. Connect the ring terminal to the sender and the female spade to the original connector with the blue/grey wire which retains the original wiring intact.
  3. Hi Chris, I don't think anyone has ever posted on how to wire it up. I will have a look at the back of mine and see if I can give you a description - should be able to work it out (but bear in mind I fitted this about 5 years ago). Bill P.S. I know you were after a really nice example of a VR - what did you get in the end - post up a pic if you have one.
  4. Glad your happy with Andy's work duke_st, top bloke, really knows Corrado's electrics inside out except I didn't get the free lunch, think I'll ping him about that one Lol!
  5. I take on board all your comments. I guess I'm fortunate that I have 2 VW mechanic friends who work for my local dealer, who know Corrado's inside out and when I have the car serviced I ask for them specifically to do the work. On the point of cost my dealer does what's called an "Economy Service" for a much cheaper price on cars over 5 years old. It's to the same spec as VAG specify but costs a lot less especially if you supply your own parts which they are happy to do and you still get the stamp in the book. Probably worth asking your local dealers if they do the same thing.
  6. Lets be honest non-franchised stamps or the Dinkus method demonstrates the same thing. But consider this - if you still have your C in 15 years time as you want to own an appreciating classic car which will add more value? All VAG stamps, non-franchised stamps or receipts. There's only one correct answer! But I can understand this point of view has fewer subscribers.
  7. Thanks Jim, but did you mean to say this Lol!
  8. Are the Beru leads the same length and diameter as the original leads?
  9. Well chuffed, mine has just passed it's 9th consecutive MOT with no work required!
  10. Be very careful not to shear a sump bolt!. I had to have a drill bit welded to a piece of rod as you can't get it close enough to drill out the sheared bolt. I then had to get a tap welded to a T-bar to rethread the hole. won't do it again in a hurry!

    fixing isv

Should be ok, I didn't replace mine and haven't had a problem. Torque it up as specified if you can though.
  12. Yeh, can you please or just attach on here. Thanks
  13. This is maybe the one that's hard-wired into accessory plug D.
  14. VR6 South, On page 1 of the thread you mention the thick black wire. Just checked my loom and it has the same. Where did you wire that into? Bill
  15. No good Steve, doesn't retain originality - what if someone checks my fusebox Lol! Off Topic, I assume you managed to get tickets for Noel next week you lucky sod!
  16. Won't they be different numbers for the different colours Steve?
  17. Ok thanks Steve, I'll take the picture into the stealers and see if I can get some.
  18. I stand corrected if I'm wrong. Are these plugs available from stealers and are they just female spade connecters?
  19. Think those plugs may have been added as an alternative solution Steve as I'm pretty sure that one of the wires is hard-connected to pin 12 plug D which is accessories as it comes from the factory. But hey if this works well done. Can these plugs be sourced from anywhere or are they just female spade connecter type?
  20. I know that you can get the small female sockets with wires attached which fit into the plugs which then plug into the fusebox(if that makes sense). You just need to solder the wires on these to the wires from the heating loom.
  21. Yeh, good idea and maybe then we can post it on the WIKI or something as it crops up quite frequently.
  22. I might take the manual to the AGM. Bound to be someone there who understands it fully.
  23. Hi Steve, Just looked at that document and can't read it properly lol!. I know that one wire goes to D12 I think which is the accessory plug. I'll dig out the manual again and have a look.
  24. Here it is straight from the VAG manual
  25. VW are launching a Mk5 Golf RSi later this year with 4wd and 3.6 V6 limited to 500 in the UK. Could be interesting as long as it doesn't have a £50k price tag like the Beetle RSi.
