  1. 7 grand is way over the top for that car surely?
  2. You were absolutely spot on mate. Nice one. Although this thread was started way back, the car has actually been sat around at a mates because i have not had the free time due to work etc, and was a little bit dis-heartened when my mate did take it to a local garage, although not specialists, for them to have a once over. They looked at it (not in any detail by the sounds of things) and said it aint hydraulics, its a gearbox issue. I didn't believe them, but due to work / lack of free time couldnt do anything about it until this week. On Monday, I took the car to Lion Grage in Hinckley, thanks to a recomendation from here, and Jason said straight away that its a hydraulic issue. This morning, while i waited, they bled the clutch and couldnt find any leaks on either cylinder at this stage. So at the moment, the car drives absolutely sweet. They said to try it for a while, and if the problem comes back they will look at replacing one or both cylinders which cost about £70 and £30 plus a couple of hours labour. So this morning has cost me £27!!! thats it. A bargain and something i wish I was able to do back in November when the problem first cropped up, rather than worrying that its a major job and that it would end up costing loads. Just goes to show, it aint always a huge problem! Thanks everyone for the advice. (Yet again) this forum proves to be invaluable.
  3. G60Jet, & CrazyDave, just wanted to say a huge thank you for the recommendation. Went there on Monday, and Jason put his finger on the problem more or less within seconds. Went back this morning, and the lads seemed to have sorted the issue out while i waited, and only charged half an hours labour. I know for a fact some of the other garages would not have been as honest and straight forward as they were here today. All of this means my VR is back on the road again, I'm smiling from ear to ear :D :D :D , and the problem i had in this threadseems to be sorted for the time being. Thanks again for the recommendation.
  4. After trying a rubbish spax kit for a while (too long) i eventually ditched it for a set of H&R springs and Eibach ARBs. wish i did it yonks earlier. the car feels almost stock on a normal drive, but then you approach a round about and once you are used to it, realise you dont have to slow down. Corners likes its on rails, and also doesnt look like i have had the car lowered by the max power brigade. it now looks lower, but not obviously lowered. This is what it used to look like, when it was on an almost 55mm drop (not the drop i wanted, but with the spax kit, they say +/- 15mm!!!) looked good, but handling was scrap and it knackered the outside of my tyre walls. Are you running 16" wheels too? I have tried 15, 16 & 17, and am happiest with 16's.
  5. mines a momo race. one of the first mods i did with my C that was. am well pleased with the look and feel. Will try and post a pic up if its not too dark when i get home / leave for work tomorow.
  6. i'd like never to have to sell mine, but i want a 911 and cant keep both. will only ever sell my VR6 for a 911.
  7. Just wondered if anyone has used this place / uses them frequently, and what your opnion of them is? I always find them a bit expensive, and they somehow always manage to create more work than you thought was neccesary. Anyone got any views / experience of them?
  8. I reckon its got to be older sisters J reg Suzuki Vitara. Not just a tin pot, but its the poser "wide body bull bar" jobbie. I used to be well embarrased when we all lived in one house back in the day, and me mates used to come over. We were all into Golf GTi's, and theres this lump of Suzuki!
  9. Hi mate. Long time!! I recently had Vince fit a set of Eibach ARB's and changed the springs to H&R's After that was done, the car feels just right. Ironically its off the road at the moment cos it wont change gear unless its warm. Still Not Sorted!! You're more than welcome to take my VR for a spin if you wanna see what that feels like once the car is up and running again.
  10. thanks for your advice. the car is currently at a mates place in his garage. Is it something i can check out myself by jacking the car up? or do i need to try and get it a garage somehow?
  11. Need some advice of you please guys and girls... I cant get the car into first gear in the mornings, and when i just about can, i really have to push the lever hard. It doesnt feel right forcing it that way. The other "symptom" that has become more noticable lately is that you have to push the clutch really deep in, almost pushing it with your toes, and when you just let it off a tiny bit, the car starts moving forwards. Is just a worn clutch? The clutch was ony replaced about 8400 miles ago. I thought they last longer than that. The stiffness seems to more apparent when the car is cold, and generally only with first gear. Once its moving, and you are changing up or down, im pretty sure that it doesnt feel as bad, although you still have to push the clutch right in, and the biting point still seems really low. Have just checked back though the service and it went to stealth for a "full" service at 98994 miles and since then its only done 2250 miles ago. Could it be that there is no oil in the gearbox? Ok, enough from me. Over to you for some advice before i decide where and who to take it to. Thanks in advance.
  12. they look great to me too. i want mine to look like that! are the audioscape?
  13. Aqua Blue i think is the name of mine.
  14. i always thought butterfly's storm was one of the rarer ones, being a storm without a sunroof. Its the only one i remember seeing.
  15. Well done Paul! Cant think of a Corrado thats more magazine worthy than yours in terms of originality & "mintness" (if there is such a thing!) Always look forward to seeing it at shows. Look forward to reading all about it.
  16. Right, i have searched and searched thru the forum search function, but cant find anything. (Im sure dinkus gonna find it one go) I even remember reading about it in a thread before, but cant find that either. My rear wiper is absolutely rubbish, and was wondering whether anyone has changed theirs to the lupo style, which is what i have on the windscreen already, and as well all know, they work great. Anyone? What do I need to do the mod?
  17. DEL VR6

    Side repeaters

I have clear on mine to match the look of the front fog lights & front indicators. I think they came from ebay for about a fiver.
  18. Thanks for the advice Nathan. Have already thought long and hard about asking you to come over one day. You could easily spend the day here, and do the whole fleet! Am just a bit skint right now, but when i have the money, will be calling you over mate. Incedentally, its probably dead obvious, but whats TFR?
  19. Is it true that with a metallic car, you are really only polishing layers of lacquer away? Mines in a right $h!te state from being left parked under trees and not washing it properly. Not sure what to do with it the way it looks right now.
  20. from experience, i would say ARB's and better braking.
  21. Just read all of this thread, and the one on the passat forum. Andi, do you reckon its not really worth bothering with if you have standard headlamps? I dont have Angel Eyes on mine, and cant really afford them either. I do have uprated bulbs and the uprated loom from H100VW, and it was a vast improvement, but still not as great as xenon's. Just wondering if its a waste of money seeing as i have standard headlamp units. (by the way, did you get the cheque in the post yet?)
