Mine is http://www.shmoo.plus.com/vr6dyno.jpg ??? 144.3 HP at the wheels, 53.8 HP transmission losses... which are the "measured" figures, from which they guesstimate 198.1 HP at the flywheel - but that's another can of worms to open, the magic of Rolling Road figures... taking us even further into uncharted off-topic thread hijacking territory ;-)

posh phrase meaning colder air == denser air == more oxygen == more power :-) :-) :-)

Another Max-er that should have been locked up
stormseeker replied to Storm's topic in General Car Chat
I can quite understand why people do it - 'cos they're trying to create something like what might have been if the Corrado was still in production.... like Jims16v's photochop of the R32 Corrado, only they do it in steel... Some of these hybrids look OK (like the one above which I don't think is too bad... ;-) ), and some look possitively awful (like you quite rightly say, the PVW featured one) -
And what's with the muppets who indicate right before, or as soon as, they get onto a roundabout and then take the second exit (i.e. "straight on") ? Have they put that in the highway code recently???

Well pardon me :? Sorry Kev, no offence meant - got out of the wrong side of the bed today... Yeah - but without wrecking the plastic pips that hold on the heatshield you can't really see the (under)side that its covering.... The car's running well, so it's not a big issue, I'd just never noticed the noise before.... VAG-COM measuring blocks show a good lambda at idle, but then if there was a leak, the ECU would just richen up anyway, wouldn't it? If the noise is normal then I really don't think it's leaking - just like I said, the noise seemed abnormally loud... :?

Excellent article on headlight looms/upgrading with relays and much more ... http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech ... elays.html
-
Yeah, I know what the ISV is supposed to do... it was the changing of the noise as I covered the heatshield that made it seem as if there was leak under the heatshield itself... ;-)
-
Item no. 5, circled in red on the attached pic (haven't got an underbonnet snap of this one :-) ) sounds like it's leaking - i.e. at idle I can hear a hissing noise that changes when I cover the heatshield underneath with my hands. I've had the thing off, (but not removed the heatshield yet) and can't see any cracks/holes in it.... Does it normally hiss??? And what excatly is it - ETKA describes it as a "damper" but inside it looks like a foam filter thing???

I imagine apprehending a burglar in my house with mine - "Don't come any closer - it could really sting..."
-
Yeah I'm sure it is, I was referring to a "legendary" tale of a supercharged VR6 vs. MR2 turbo... ...and I bet the Fiesta had a few more mods than a "bolt-on" supercharger ;-)
-
wasn't that an indicated 165mph (just off the top end of the speedo ;-) )
-
That's what mine is (didn't describe it very well) - but yes, a pico-second later thoughts of being chased by Police ARVs makes me glad it's hidden under the bed

Blackmail - or "Driver Improvement Programme"
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3907 It was my fault, I didn't see the other car at all - first time I saw it, it was stuck to my bonnet  - so yeah, in the eys of the law, I cut across the path of another vehicle == careless driving. -
Sometimes, in a moment of madness, I get the urge to carry my air pistol in the car... just to wave at someone  .
-
Also plastic welded one of the legs on the bottom of the airbox too :-)

My favourite pose at the lights, waiting for them to change.... On a slightly related note - I was being bothered no-end the other Saturday night by a Cavalier SRi. I was driving back from Preston to Southport at about 2am with the missus asleep in the passenger seat, so was being really delicate round the bends, but hammering it on the straights. Anyway the SRi would ctach me up at lights, roundabouts etc. but then I would blast away from him - he must have thought that the Corrado doesn't handle bends very well  he was absolutley screaming the balls off it trying to overtake me :-)

VR6 belt tensioner bearing replacement - how to.
stormseeker replied to PhatVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
If there's play in the bearing then no amount of grease will fix it! If it's just dry, then you might get away with it - re-packing it might quieten it for a while... -
Another money-making scheme like the bloody speed cameras? Merseyside police apparently consider that it would be beneficial if I attended a "Driver Improvement Programme" since my crash last Sep. At a cost of £125.73 to myself, and then they will not try to prosecute me. If however I decline to accept their kind offer, then they feel there is sufficient case to go after me for careless driving.... which could mean 6 points and a fine. Now I reckon if it went to court it wouldn't go against me, but I'm not feeling that brave :-( Which means they get £125.73 out of me and I have to attend a day and half course (with a written Highway code test at the end ! !) - There's no passing/failing the course, all I have to do is attend - wonder if they ever get any people taking the p1ss and getting the highway code bit wrong on purpose... Just feels like blackmail...

VR6 belt tensioner bearing replacement - how to.
stormseeker replied to PhatVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
Nice pictures of some of the removal/disassembly procedure at http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1138497 -
you need to get out more... :-) ;-)

First time I drove abroad I couldn't believe how the French pulled in again on the motorway AS SOON as they'd overtaken someone - complete culture shock! Another thing that really bugs me why do the British love to Queue? You know how everyone's dying to get in a queue on the road and then doesn't like it when other people don't share their obsession for queueing... like on an Mway when there are roadworks and say the outside 2 lanes are closed - WHY OH WHY does everyone insist on getting in the inside lane miles before they can even see a cone? Any then refuse to let anyone else in? And of course the lorry drivers who stradlle two lanes as if it's their right to make everyone queue? What really is wrong with using all three lanes right up until the cones? Like Kev says I think it's some weird British teritorial thing - it MY road !!!
-
so even by taking out my dials and putting them back in would reset the mileage...what a bloody stupid idea that was from VW. The corrado is a great car, but im sure the work experience boy designed some of it!!! No, it's not supposed to do that - it will normally retain mileage after battery disconnection/instrument cluster removal. I think these "correction" agents reprogramme the eeprom in situ.

The fumes are good for you

Noticed mine had gone too  when doing the water pump last week - I did good job of plastic/rubber welding it back together with an old soldering iron... will be off to the ford dealer tomorrow.... :-)
