  1. I've seen some LED bulbs with LEDs angled sideways too - (check oichans mods page ) (to bounce light off the reflectors) but any LEDs that are angled straight back will always look like mine - no matter what they claim for the width of the beam
  2. If the pictures are anything to go by, you may have to remove some of the plastic in the C's rear cluster to get those through the hole... the diameter of the LED cluster looks too big to fit to me...
  3. I've swapped my rear stop/tail, reverse and fog lights for LED equivalents, but not the indicators, as I haven't found any that give out a decent light, none that I would feel comfortable with anyway ;-) You can see my brake lights in action here http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/download.php?id=3970 - becasue the light output is lower, I fitted the third, high level LED one too (which as you can see, then went a bit loopy...) - because the light from the LEDs comes straight out, and very very little bounces off the reflectors, you get more of a point effect...
  4. There's a quite good virtual garage thing where you can try various wheels to see how they look on the C at http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/ ... toModClar= from that, most of the 16" wheels appear to weigh 18lbs ish, and the 17"-ers are 21lbs & up, 15"-ers are 15 or 16lbs
  5. My main hate is people who undertake and cut in on you in the outside lane - I WAS LEAVING THAT SPACE FOR SOME SORT OF SAFETY MARGIN YOU MORON - just because there's a space in front of me doesn't mean you have to fill it! Makes my blood boil...
  6. From http://www.wheelweights.net/ - the 16" Audi TT ones it reckons are 18.5 lbs, but no info on speedlines or solitudes....
  7. For everyone's info: Software and leads from http://www.ross-tech.com/ or it works out slightly cheaper to buy leads only from ebay http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... =3&rows=50 and then download & register s/w from ross-tech - although to be honest I'd be inclined to buy the whole package from ross-tech... HTH
  8. Sorry to hear that Nik, hope you can get it sorted without too much hassle... :(
  9. If you've got a set of clusters to customise - how about a LED/filament bulb hybrid? Keep the 21W white bulb, then fit say another 20-odd hyper bright orange LEDs directly into the back of the cluster - the LEDs should give you some extra light :-) I've been thinking about getting myself a spare set of rear clusters to do just this, but with solely LEDs...
  10. VW dealers do 'em - quite reasonable too  - well, a lot less than the £45 quid they usually go for on ebay! Best bet is the Tesco option - £6.99 - + cut some VW logos out of any random car mag/advert, stick 'em on and bob's yer uncle :-) :-)
  11. You always get this code with ignition on and engine not running, and it always clears by itself when you start the engine :-) ;-) [EDIT] Damn, beat me to it Kev ;-)
  12. not according to http://www.rac.co.uk/myrac/vehicle_data_check/ it's not - is it only a few days old???
  13. this is probably massively tempting fate, but.... Had my Corrado VR6 for exactly a year today - and so far the only things to have gone wrong are the headlight switch and a stuck open thermostat. ;-) (where's that smiley for touching wood...) Oh yeah, and the water pump needs replacing... (Apart from the £4500-worth of accident repairs, that actually cost me £650 in insurance excess... :-( :-( which actually took the car off the road for 9 weeks, so strictly speaking it's not had 1 full year's worth of driving... ) The only other things I've spent on it are 4 new tyres, oil, filter, 6 new plugs, K&N air filter, headlight loom, alloy door pins, alloy gear knob, crystal side repeaters, high level LED brake light and Nik Patel's frosty rear-cluster film... about £500 in total - not bad at all I reckon :) Oh and some corrado.net stickers too.... :-)
  14. The exhaust passes directly under the gearlever - as kevhaywaire's already pointed out, there should be heatshields on the underside of the body to stop too much heat transfer. Have you recently changed you exhaust? or fitted a cat bypass or something that might have disturbed the heatshields?
  15. yeah - must be one below all those C's I've seen with Audi/BM/Porsche badging ...
  16. Heard talk at the CCGB EGM last year about a guy who'd replaced every VW badge on his C with the correspondingly sized Skoda variant  - now THAT must confuse people.... :?
  17. excellent, I'll owe you a pint then :-)
  18. My old Pug 205 GTi 1.9 was around 860kg IIRC - one of the reasons they're so nippy, but it also felt flimsy in a "made out of old coke cans" way, and "Don't want to have a serious crash in one" sort of feeling...
  19. I can't really have the car off the road for any length of time (while the tensioner's being "fettled") though - has anyone that's already done this got an SKF part no. for the bearing? As I understood it, the procedure is take it off, take it bits and take it into SKF (or whoever...) and get them to match the bearing ??? :?: :?: :?:

    Sunroof...

Bad luck Jim, at this rate you'll soon be telling us you can't afford to keep it  ... ;-)
  21. Anyone got the part no. to hand for the VR6 belt tensioner unit? Can't find it anywhere in ETKA... (EDIT just looked under the bonnet - D'oh! 021 145 299 B if anyone's interested... )
  22. The first thing that attracted me to the C all those years ago was the spoiler (gadget-factor!)... still can't help whizzing it up & down at the lights to see peoples' reactions.... still a talking point when ever I give a "Corrado-virgin" a ride for the first time... (oooooooer missus ;-) )
  23. Corrado VR6 and I'm 37 on Tuesday :-) I was a late starter with VW's ;-)
  24. The vag-com thing you mention - isn't that the procedure you use to re-programme the immob to work with new keys (which as far as I know you can't do to the Corrado's immob). But you reckon you can programme the transponder in the switchblade to emulate an old non-rolling code Corrado one? Sounds promising...
