  1. Got my first aid kit for £6.99 from Tesco - in a rigid plastic box, fits perfectly in the arm rest. Sorted. :-) :-) (just thinking about putting a VW sticker on it and selling it for £45 on ebay ;-) )
  2. Just another vote of confidence in the VWCCGB :salute: I attended the EGM and now have every confidence that the new committee can put this year behind them and move forward. I know that the specific problem that caused so much trouble this year is well on the way to resolution... Don't forget that a properly organised club with paid for membership can use their funds for the members' benefit - e.g. track days, national days etc. I think the forum has it's plus points too - the sense of community and technical help you can get here is also first rate, and for swapping photos/organising local meets/chit-chat etc. it's brilliant. In an ideal world - the C Forum would be integrated into the CCGB website (or at least be linked from it!) - but given the history I don't think that will ever happen!  Imagine one consolidated place for Corrado owners/enthusuaists in the UK, with a free to join/use forum, and a fully organised paid-for club behind it too.... heaven :D At the end of the day we're all just trying to keep our Corrados going & looking sweet - I'm sure that united the two "factions" would be so much more efficient .... (ducks for cover...)
  3. Dunno, but I'm in Southport so count me in (when I get my C back from the bodyshop!) The VWCCGB regional meets always tend to be in the South of the region - Cheshire/Wirral way - was trying to persuade them to have one Lancs. way next....
  4. Nearly 6 weeks without the Corrado - I NEED COUNSELLING    Latest hiccup is awaiting a part that fixes to the plastic thermostat housing... VW have sent the wrong bit... Been down to the bodyshop again to see it in bits so I know they're not taking the p1$$.... Just wish they could sort out the right bits with VW quickish... not even VW seem to know Corrado parts very well!
  5. Classic Green Storm M*** CLL (I think) about 3pm parked outside Carphone Warehouse, Southport yesterday 6/11/2003. Could've done with a wash & polish!!! Otherwise standard...
  6. Wish I had the spare time to be bored - next time you're bored fancy entertaining by 3 yr old & 1 yr old (and possibly wifey too  HA!) for a couple of days/weeks while I fettle my C a bit... :D
  7. ...needs the Lupo Wiper Mod lol :-)
  8. yeah - just checked - 15 gallon tanks came in in Aug 1991....
  9. Weren't there some early VR6's -pre facelift (i.e. like the campaigns) with slidy heater controls and possibly 12 gallon tanks...
  10. Wasn't there a size incresase from the early to late Corrado's tanks? Maybe you've got an early one?
  11. Went to see it today - looking nice a shiny and straight :-) :-) BUT - still no bumper on - still waiting for these mysterious brackets... Would've taken a piccy if the digi-camera battery hadn't been flat...
  12. I did try the T-cut - but my tears diluted it so much that it didn't seem to work..... I'm really learning to loathe the Fiesta-bodyshop-courtesy car....
  13. would love to go, but.... 1. That day is me mum's 60th Birthday and more importantly 2. Corrado is still in the bodyshop :-(
  14. Well, after I put a slight scuff on the front bumper, I still haven't got my Corrado back from the bodyshop BOO HOO    It's all been jigged, all metalwork done & painted up & ready to go, but they can't fit the bumper due to waiting for a couple of plastic brackets to come from Germany... :x :x :x with no date when they might get here... I'm going through major withdrawl symptoms, 4 weeks & 3 days without my C is driving me UP THE WALL....
  15. Green VR6 Storm N***JLX "Fox" Wheels & Bodykit - spotted at Renacres Hall Hospital, Lancs, Thu. 23/10 in a "Consultants Only" parking space. :?: :?: :?:
  16. I know who she was - but it was my fault    ...which kinda makes me feel worse I really loved (love !!!) my C - I'd been pining after one for years. It was that sort of car that I was happy to drive just for the fun of it (offering to give anyone & everyone in the family a lift just as an excuse to get out in it). Now it's been taken away from me I'm missing it more than I'd ever imagined... couting down the seconds til it's back...
  17. Must be an Aqua-Blue-Bashing virus going round. :-( You have my sympathies, I'm feeling pretty low after crashing mine a couple of weeks ago - but keep trying to think how much lower I'd feel if I'd lost a limb (etc.) or even worse - seriously hurt or killed someone else. Hope you get it sorted OK, and the person respnsible gets what they deserve....
  18. Know the feeling! I've been without mine since the morning of 29/9 (when I crashed it :-( ) - nearly 2 weeks ago !!!! Never thought I'd feel so miserable... worst is the bodyshop reckon it'll be another 2 to 3 weeks    Don't know how I'll cope...
  19. Oh yus - it's Churcill I did talk at some length with the assessor about the value of the car. He first offered me £4800 as a figure for total loss (from Glasses & Parkers) but I managed to talk him up to £6000 with evidence from autotrader ads. My excess is £650 (   ) so with that taken off the estimate of the cost to the insurers stands at £3689 which is still just a shade over 60% of the value. I guess it was pretty close to the edge  The guy at the repairers described it as "semi-collectable" and seemed quite knowledgable about VWs in general, so who knows, fingers crossed.
  20. Don't worry - I'm on their case already... if it comes back less than perfect they've had it...
  21. Well, after a bit of to-ing & fro-ing the insurance co. have agreed to repair my C. I decided this was the best (least hassle!) option in the end. Just can wait to have it back now... Final estimate was £4339 - of which £280 was paint & materials and £660 was labour and a massive £3399 was parts!!! That's of course without them finding further damage etc. when they get it stripped down... Over the past week I've discovered that I don't like being Corrado-less
  22. First repair estimate was £4500    Garage is now doing some work on the labour figures to try and get it down, but I'm still not sure if I'd want it back now. Needs jigging to straighten the front end a tiny bit. Will it ever feel the same again? Thing is - it was in such good (near perfect!) condition, that anything but a miracle repair and it just won't feel right..... If is is written off, it will be as "uneconomical to repair" rather than "total loss". Following any subsequent repairs, it can be removed from the written off register with an appropriate engineer's inspection... Just checked Autotrader and there a few N reg VR6's with similar mileages going for between £6200 & £7000... Who knows...
  23. Must've done - I have no idea where it came from! To make matters worse - it's a known blackspot, right outside where I work, must've been across that junction 100s of times, so I know to be careful there.... The WPC told me that even if the mondeo had been doing 100mph it would still've been my fault! Just got back from having another look over the car at the repairers - really made me want to cry :( I know that in the grand scheme of things it's only a tin box that can replaced, but spending so much time & energy on it, it's human nature to get attached to it... boo hoo Anyway, assesor reckons min. £2500 parts plus £1000 labour. (I actually saw the computer programme they use to work out the quotes - it was like ETKA but the exploded diagrams of the car had parts costs & labour costs associated with them. VW Corrado was on the list but had no info. in there, so he did a quick & dirty estimate based on a Golf VR6) Let's see what he comes up with when he phones around and gets some quotes for Corrado parts
  24. Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. I'll keep you updated of her fate :-(
  25. Still waiting for the insurance company's assesor to look at it. (Guy at their repairers asked me if I wanted it writing off???). If it's written off will probably buy it back and get it repaired. Feeling more sh1tey the more I think about it :-( Didn't help the police turning up and threatening me with careless driving. After the formal caution & interview the WPC then says "If you sign up for this Driving Inmprovement scheme - it won't be taken any further" Which would cost me £150!!! Another fcuking money-spinner for the police. Of course I declined, then she tells me that she would recommend no further action to be taken anyway. Cheek of it!
