Yeah thought about that afterwards - doh

Saw this today at Stanford, looks even better in the flesh. I didn't say who I was but I asked you about the scuttle panel. Dave

Rado had the MOT today, went straight through without any problems :D :D How's that for a 14 year old car with 140k on the clock and bought for £1200. Needless to say I'm well chuffed. Got the insurance sorted today too so if nothing goes wrong with the tax I'll be in it Wednesday - yippee :D sorry if I sound like a big kid

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE

Are those the White clips? Try the dealer. Also check that the handle screw is secure, it's on the end of the door by the handle. Driver side is usually left hand thread. -
Ok I've made some small changes to the bracket but could do with someone in Notts/Derby area (preferably with dodgy fixings) to come over to my place for a free trial just to get some feedback on the brackets. Any takers? Thanks Dave

I can have a look, where is it on the car?
-
No, just the panel covering the motor. You should be able to get the the mechanisms once the sunroof panel is out.
-
I'd remove the sunroof panel and the motor then realign the sliders/lever mechanisms and re-assmble.
-
Is this thread referring to the small metal clips (qty 4) at the base of the seat back? I need to get to the inside of the seat to repair a cable, are these the clips to remove? Anything else I need to remove to be able to reach the seat lever on the side? Ta Dave

What's the result, dirt trap?
-
Jim, that looks alright for the money. Might go for it myself but then again our cars are already looking similar

Probably not, I think there would need to be mods to the car to make this happen. This an interesting idea, I'll look into it. Did you fit the braces inside so they're not seen and how did you attach them? Thanks Dave

Whilst working to get my Rado on the road I noticed the front spoiler was very loose. Upon closer inspection the reinforcement plate was missing and so were the screws leaving it flapping about. I decided to make up some Stainless clamp brackets to fix it as I didn't know what was missing. After a couple of proto's I was very happy with the result - the spoiler felt very secure again. I've today replaced them with the original VAG plate and screws totalling £35, the 5 screws being £10  . Interestingly the spoiler didn't feel much more secure than my clamp brackets which got me thinking, could this be a big saving for forum members? Would be interested to know how many of you have corroded or missing front spoiler fixings and need a good cheap fix? I'm looking at a kit of 5 brackets with bolts in Stainless, aiming for a kit price of between £10 and £15. Appreciate peoples thoughts on this - good or bad. Thanks Dave

Yes you can adjust those screws but it does sound like there is another problem. Not sure what it is. I don't think the screws offer that much adjustment.
-
Yes, the sunroof should be in one of it's resting positions when it stops. The gear wheel only turns a few times when you tilt and alot more when it's sliding. You can use this to gauge the position of the gear wheel.
-
The motor is timed and you probably have the motor gear wheel set wrong. Take the motor off with it still connected to power and then operate the switch. You will have to play around with it to find the correct stop point.

Don't know about prices but try these. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ ... lgrp=RD002

Just a quick update on where I am with this. I'm please to say it should be ready for the road 2nd week in May. Just need to get it mot'd and have some paint done then insure it. It still needs stuff doing but it can be done anytime. I'll post up some pics when it's ready. No sneaky previews today I'm afraid.

Ok Jim, I'll ask the question. Yeah you're right - don't ask don't get.
