  1. I might have this, I think I sold one side but not sure which side. Let me have a look.
  2. I'm liking the double din, nice work. Might have a go at that myself.
  3. Hasan, not sure if you know but I do the BMC bracket and am about to release the strap, both in polished Stainless of course. Dave
  4. You can but either put a £10 deposit down or pay in full to secure? I think I have one spare but need to check. Thanks Dave
  5. Not done this show before so I might come up, only an hour away.
  6. Taxed it this afternoon and took it out for a blast tonight for the first time. Happy to report all is fine, pulls very well and no nasty surprises, infact no surprises at all. So my first outing could well be Elsecar as I've not done that one yet.
  7. I'm glad I didn't show my gearbox in my thread, although I cleaned it up, it still looks a little mucky. National Day show winner this year for you Chris maybe?
  8. Thanks for the comments guys. I could have and probably should have spent more time cleaning the bay but time was dragging on and to be honest I was getting little tired and frustrated with it being in bits for so long.
  9. Time for a major update…… So the engine decided to give up last September and the car had stood in the garage for about 4 months before I did anything with it. I sourced a good used VR engine from PurpleTom and popped over to collect it in my Passat Wagon with a suitable sized plastic box which turned out to be the perfect size for a VR block and head. Thanks Tom! I have a standard sized garage but as the driveway is on a slope I couldn’t just push the car out to make space for the engine crane so I fabbed up some extender platforms. Now I have space to whip the engine out. I have an integral garage which means taking the engine through the lounge to the room at the back of the house where I’ve been doing the engine work. Again I fabbed up a wheeled frame to take the engines back and forth through the lounge. My wife is very understanding. Ok time to start swapping the chains, tensioners, 263 cams and tappets over as they’re all nearly new. Fabbed up a flywheel lock which works very well indeed. Off came the sump for some blasting and powder coating after fitting sump baffles. Block has been painted and various other bits blasted and lacquered, namely the Ali parts. In other words a good tarting up! Engine is on the frame ready for wheeling into the garage. I’ve done some tidying of the engine bay too, just a bit of cleaning, bit of surface rust sorted on the battery tray and some re-wrapping of wiring looms. A few more bits of Stainless done – Engine install well on the way to completion. Car is back together now and the first fire-up went well apart from a noisy tappet which is silent now and a minor fuel leak. Oh and I got my oil pressure and temp wires wrong way round which stumped me for a while. Anyway click on the photo for a video of how it runs now.
  10. Mine was an easy fix, I got the connectors attached to the wrong sensors, doh!
  11. Seems I'm having similar problems now since I've put another engine in the car. I have an OEM oil pressure gauge that says all is good. I've changed sensors and checked wiring still with no luck. Oil temp doesn't work and the outside temp is stuck at 16 degs. Good luck with yours and I'll report back if I find the problem which may be the same as yours.
  12. I think I've got most of those parts in Stainless. Very good work there Chris, you've got an awful lot of cleaning to do once you start using the car.
  13. I have 2, one is spoken for, if you pay a £10 deposit then you can secure the next one which I do have but needs modifying. Sorry to ask but at times I'm struggling to keep track of who has asked for one and I've skipped people which is unfair.
  14. Never done it myself but yes that's the way from underneath. From above, you may find it easier if you remove the plastic surrounding the gear stick, this allows a little more room for manoeuvre.
  15. c Yes received, will reply probably tomorrow. Dave
  16. Correct no cables required, do you still have my delivery address?
  17. Seem very cheap compared with others I've looked at which worries me as I believe you get what you pay for.
  18. Stu, Cost is £45 posted back to you. Dave
  19. Hi all, I want to buy some tailored mats for my daughters Beetle but rather than pay the dealer inflated prices can anyone recommend one of the numerous companies supplying tailored mats? Thanks Dave
  20. I don't have any at the moment but if you want to put a £10 deposit down to secure then that's fine, that way I won't forget you again.
