Headlight Protectors, Car Cover, Revell Model
daves16v replied to ridlymaca's topic in Parts for Sale
I'm not entirely sure but if the covers are from LM plastics then I've had them in the past and should fit. -

Power Steering Leakage ( kind donation needed)
daves16v replied to Michael'durham''s topic in Engine Bay
Yeah I've got one. -
The oil temps will always be higher than the water temps (gauge) on a run with no or little stopping. The water temp will rise when stationary for long periods. Those temps are normal, my cooling system is 99% new and I get the same temps with similar driving conditions. If you have a noisy fan then yes get ya wallet out!

Aux water pump £106.33 VAG Main water pump (metal impeller) £38.28 VW Spares 701919369D Sender £35.12 VAG 025906041A Sensor £19.09 VAG 1H0959481B Thermo Switch £27.61 VAG I didn't buy the Black (high speed fan) sensor, I figured the engine would never get that hot with my miles and driving style.

Will have to have a look thru my receipts later.

Stanford Hall Convoy M1 South
daves16v replied to daves16v's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Thoughts on meeting time and venue for those living in and around Notts - Meet at Trowell services between M1 J25 and 26 at 7am to get away at 7.15am arriving at Stanford for about 8am. Kip, are you planning on heading down at that time or earlier? -
Those temps look normal to me, I get the same on the motorway and I've replaced all sensors, radiator and rad switch. Infact I've replaced all parts of the cooling system recently including both water pumps.

Sean/James, if you send me yours for modification turnaround is 1 week. I don't supply headlight looms. Pete, yes you can drop it out from underneath but you need to remove the exhaust.

Can you put me down for a set, for a VR with NO emblem. Thanks. -
Oh I forgot to say it didn't fit...... haha only joking, it was perfect.

I bought this one - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310452245598?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D310452245598%26_rdc%3D1

A couple of examples, the second one is steel.

Yeah my thoughts too, maybe an Ali one would be better? Some form of plastic liner would be possible, ideally the whole thing made of plastic is the way to go but for a one-off it may be too expensive.
-
Andy, I can take a look at making up a spanner if you like? It may not be suitable but worth a go.

Chris Gaskell (RW1) Gathering at 1pm at Stanford Hall to Honour Him
daves16v replied to KIPVW's topic in General Car Chat
This is so sad, I first met Chris about 10 years ago at Stanford Hall, he had his Green VR in the concours comp. He took time out to chat to me which was nice. I've made efforts to say hello to him whenever we've been at the same event and he always has time to chat. He's also helped out with queries at those events and on this forum, a thoroughly nice chap we have all lost. RIP Chris. -
Chris, defo let us know, I might give them ago.
-
Had mine out recently and they look identical.

Well if you're going to advertise a car for that sort of money then I'd expect it to be clean under the bonnet too.
