Fancy a Lamborghini Gallardo on the cheap?
bcstudent replied to Claret Badger's topic in General Car Chat
Now that is class. Have to admire the work that went into it. -
It's common for these to leak slightly and 'tick' as I recall.
-
I seem to remember you saying at the time that a head-on would have resulted in certain death! By the look of the pictures if the impact had been two feet further back the outcome may also have been very different.
-
Good effort but I'm not really that keen; it looks like it's too far back to be an armrest. Is it big enough for sarnies? :)
-
What's the betting matey comes back and says "yeah, that's what I had...all that lot on a 3.1..."?
-
To be fair, I'd like some clarity there also.
-
The guy never mentioned a Renault 5 GTT so you might just as well have asked him if he was talking about an Escort Cosworth. You, my good fellow, are far too defensive in the face of a bit of light-hearted piss taking :)
-
I think your estimates are way out. There are plenty of cars on this forum with that spec. that don't make 240bhp.
-
This statement would imply that the early to mid-'90s cars we're driving around in are no safer though.
-
We'll make a detective of you yet!
-
Blimey....at least if one drives into you it'll absorb all the impact energy. It appears to be made from cardboard and feathers.
-
Being on 18s is probably not helping. My Corrado drives like crap on the 17s compared to the standard wheels.
-
I noticed a new dent in the driver's door just yesterday, despite having all the rubber strips. It actually made me chuckle because now the door just matches the rest of the car :)
-
My Corrado used to feel the same when the tracking was badly set-up. Worn ball-joints are also a leading cause of uneasy and vague steering.
-
I'd have to agree there! I wouldn't be entirely truthful if I said I'd never considered one myself.
-
Have you ever owned (or driven) a GSi though? 'Mechanical grip'....now there's a consultant's phrase if ever I heard one :)
-
Hmmm, well mine was definitely 150bhp. The owner's manual quoted 152PS (150bhp) and 195Nm (144 lbft). That may be so but with two different drivers it's hardly a conclusive test of the ability of one car over another in that situation...the rear bushes may have been worn on the Cavalier too :)
-
I'll get my coat. I'm no Vauxhall fan but I think it's clear that I have some serious respect for the ability of the Mk3 Cavalier GSi.
-
After reading back through this thread I feel like a spokesman for Vauxhall :)
-
I'd question that statement as I believe them to be 150bhp. As a previous Mk2 GTE 16v owner I can testify that the Astras were, indeed, dangerous cars in the handling department. The Cavalier GSi, on the other hand, was very capable and I'd wager a match for a stock Corrado.
-
I would expect 240bhp and FWD to equate to a serious lack of standing-start grip! Might explain it :)
-
How much did it sell for in the end? (if you don't mind me asking). I notice the reserve wasn't met at the auction price.
-
I'm not keen on the single wiper, but *wow* to the rest. Beautiful colour too.
-
Are we though? If it has a C20XE 'red top' engine we're not. If it is the SRi then you're right, it's got no chance.
-
I think you'd do well to find any 12 year-old car that didn't need work - may as well have one at the classier end of the market. It's still a head-turner...even more so on the back of a bright yellow recovery truck :)
