  1. Out of interest, how big is Maple Ridge?
  2. Spooky. One of the guys from my UVic res building lives in Maple Ridge.
  3. Which part of BC are you in? During the year I spent in Victoria I saw one Corrado...a red VR6. Dissapointing number of them around. * EDIT * I saw in another thread that Toffee is from near Vancouver so I'm assuming you're there too. I still have yet to see a forum member from Vic.
  4. It'll have different hangers to yours.
  5. There are few jobs on the car I wouldn't do myself to save a tenner.
  6. Honestly, I think you'll get more help if you provide some extra detail. What the heck does a 2CV run like?
  7. When I bought my second Mk2 Golf GTI in 1996, the guy (a main-dealer VW mechanic) was selling due to the purchase of a blue Corrado 16v. It was the first time I'd taken a look around one and I remember being suitably impressed by the spoiler. I can remember the guy telling me about them being Karmann-built. A few months previous I tried to taunt an N-reg Corrado VR6 into a ding-dong on the A11 against the Astra GTE 16v I was in. He wasn't interested though, probably since his Corrado was brand new at the time. I guess as a car enthusiast I was always aware of the Corrado but it was a long time before I saw one up close.
  8. A female copper friend of mine (who owns a Corrado) had to walk a few weeks ago....after she filled her diesel rozzer-mobile up with petrol! She'll kill me if she reads this :)
  9. Have you ever considered printing the EXIF information with the pics on your site? It'd be a lot of help for us budding photographers :)
  10. Maybe it's just my monitor, but the grille and the car look near identical shades in that pic!
  11. That, surprisingly, is better looking than it sounds. Brown appears to suit the Corrado better than it ever did the Austin Allegro. Welcome back :)
  12. RCAs RHS as in driver's side? That would mean they had to pass the fusebox would it not? My power leads run along the passenger side of the car and the RCA leads run along the centre tunnel. I'd suggest maybe relocating them for a start. Are you taking the amplifier earth directly from the battery? If not I'd recommend that too.
  13. No service history wouldn't put me off any car. I don't trust garages and don't expect others to either :) I will say this though, I only buy cars advertised as a private sale. If the owner seems clueless I walk. There are plenty of enthusiast-owned examples of any car and those are the ones to go for...like yours Chris.
  14. Do you have the RCA leads running anywhere near a power lead?
  15. Fuel enrichment on the 9A engine is via the differential pressure valve - the black lump on the engine side of the fuel distributor. Cold fuel enrichment is based on a temperature-controlled switch in the cylinder head. First, check the wiring to both. If all seems well remove the temperature switch and test its operation with a cup of boiling water and a multi-meter. If that's ok then the fault is likely to be with the differential pressure valve or the ECU itself. The Haynes manual for the 1988 - 1991 Passat covers the 9A engine and gives tests for the differential pressure valve.
  16. As far as I'm aware the handbrake is mechanical, it's completely seperate to the hydraulic brake system that includes the compensator. With this in mind a faulty brake compensator will have no effect on the handbrake. Get a mate to pull the handrake on while you watch the cables to the calipers and check that they're connected. If they're operating the arms on the calipers properly then the mechanism inside the caliper may be faulty, which means new calipers. Oh yeah, the brake compensator should move very freely.
  17. There's no shortage of Corrados in North America as long as you're after a G60 or VR6 (SLC). Exporting one from the UK to a LHD country wouldn't really make sense when they were sold as official imports over there. Which part of Canada were you in?
  18. Driving within your limits is one thing. Driving within everybody else's is another.
  19. Käfer is German for 'Beetle'. This is apparently a Gutbrod Superior 600 as manufactured by Gutbrod-Motorenblau GmbH , Plochingen, Germany.
  20. Composition 10/10, spelling 10/10, the use of a full-stop instead of a semi-colon to link independent clauses that are closely related in meaning...could try harder God I'm bored.
  21. I'd say the prices aren't too far off (by garage standards) assuming the play in the hub assembly is due to a failed wheel bearing. If the play is a result of a worn track-rod end or a ball joint I would expect it to be a little less.

    Vibrator.

Did I hear mention of marriage or some other crazy plan?
  23. Black VW badge gets my vote...like on Jim's ex-Corrado.
