I know a guy with a Renault 5 Turbo who's constantly piling money into the rusty old shed; I'm pretty sure he's paying the K-Tek wages single handedly. I'm assuming it's the same company.

At least all the bits to repair can be found in scrapyards for very little money :) About six months ago a female friend of mine bought a '93 2.0 16v Corrado because she 'thought my car was pretty'. At the time I advised her against it due the 'enthusiast's car' reliability reputation. I made sure to mention it again after her first £400 garage bill that still failed to rectify the running rault...

I don't know much about them, but there's a white one with white wheels in the town where I live and I know I like it....a lot :)

I love the Corrado...I do...otherwise I wouldn't own one. However, this is exactly what I mean about underestimating the Cavalier. The jury is still out on the exact model of Cavalier we're talking about, but if it's the GSi it's a significantly stronger opponent than it's being given credit for, especially in the corners. Why exactly is the Corrado less likely to suffer from understeer than the Cavalier?

I can't believe that the Focus ST170 is a better car than the Clio 182. Don't get me wrong, I hate Renaults, but I feel the newer breed of Clio is suffering slightly under the reputation of the older model. I hear the 182 is a fantastic driver's car although I've never driven one myself.

That's definitely not true. I'm not sure exactly to what degree Cosworth were involved in the project but they definitely designed the cylinder head used on both the XE and LET 'red top' engines. They also manufactured the earlier 'Coscast' heads until Vauxhall moved production in-house. It is a widely known fact that the later Vauxhall-built cylinder heads are prone to failure. As far as I know the 2.0 16v 'red top' engine was never used in a Cavalier badged as an SRi. The GSi received that particular engine. In a drag race between a NA Cavalier GSi and a Corrado VR6 would result in a victory for the Corrado, but not by the margin you may expect. The Cavalier GSi is a very capable car in a straight line and in the bends - not to be underestimated. I can't imagine what the 4x4 Turbo version is like!

Being parked on the slope is probably exagerating the wheel arch gaps.

Isn't the Passat GT a 2.0 16v? If so the rev counter will be scaled wrong for the 8v G60. *EDIT* According to the Haynes manual there are 8v Passat GTs but it's still something to check :)

Didn't coolrado install the same thing from a Leon in his Corrado recently too? *EDIT* It's apparently not finished, but he did...http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27881

I feel people like these need to be put straight. Everyone likes to exagerate stories a little but I couldn't listen to someone talking such rubbish without telling them what I thought. I have a 'friend' with a Renault 5 Turbo who likes to do the same. He gets told...a lot.

Was that close to an actual quote or along the same lines but slighty exagerated? I find it hard to believe that someone could ever deal out such a load of old toss :)

According to the RAC vehicle check there's no vehicle registered under L183 RWV. So unless it's got a private 'plate there's a good chance it's history :(

As long as they're forward facing I'll be happy :)

I don't believe a starter button be blamed for engine flooding problems. It's only doing the same job as the ignition switch in the 'start' position.

That RacingFix site has some nice videos for download but, unfortunately, very little bandwidth.

Login to download....grrrr

One of what?

I refuse to pay more than £250 comp. with protected NCB these days. Living in Norfolk does have the odd benefit.

 Nice one. Glad it was easy (not to mention cheap) to sort.

There can't be much you haven't replaced by now.

Nah, never heard of him. Sounds proper shady :). Seriously though, it'd be nice to have a specialist place like G-Werks around here.

I think you win the award for most troublesome Corrado ever!

To compare...this is a pic from PhatVR6s thread about his own R32 Corrado. I'd say the first pic is a Photoshop without a shadow of a doubt.
