Uni Final year project....engine managment!
bcstudent replied to mrbeige's topic in General Car Chat
What microprocessors/microcontrollers do you have experience with? -
May I assume there will be a video of this car soon?
-
You crazy Americans. To be fair, that old 'charger looks to be in decent condition.
-
After the Corrado? Nothing remotely fast or expensive. I treat all cars as workhorses and as far as cheap cars go there's nothing that beats the Corrado for style. The only thing that could lure me away is 60mpg. Speed is not important - that's what the bike is for.
-
Nice. It'd look a bit out of place in my engine bay though!

So, the vehicle handover didn't quite go to plan...

Leon prices seem pretty stable to me, more so than Civic Type-R prices at least. My mum's 53-plate Leon Cupra has just turned 18k and hasn't missed a beat so far. The finish is excellent too. -
Gran Turismo 4 - what do you think of it?

Was that with a Sony memory card? -
I refurbed another wheel. I'm sick of them already.
-
Hard...definitely hard.

They're both 1781cc. The smaller inlet manifold diameter alters the spread of torque on the Corrado for a fatter curve lower in the rev at the expense of the peak value. Since horsepower is a calculated figure based on torque and engine speed that's where the slight discrepancy comes from in the quoted peak horsepower figures between the two engines.

I believe the pipe you're talking about allows air to bypass the throttle body when the throttle is closed, allowing the car to idle. I expect that replacing it with a larger a diameter pipe would have little effect, although if it did change anything it would probably just make the idle unstable. Could be wrong.

I believe the display on mine only comes on when the system demand is greater than the battery can supply. As coolrado says, it powers off shortly after the demand had dropped. There was no requirement for a resistor when connecting my cap.

I sort of wish I'd bought the Audioscape door pods in the group buy. My stereo is missing something up front.

My mate has just picked up a clean 110k 1993 Corrado VR for two grand. Some people need cash quickly and some can hang on. I guess that dictates the price to some extent.

Is this the first year Seat have used the 180bhp engine in a stock Ibiza? Incidentally, I don't believe there's any doubt on the forum that the car is quick. However, to knock over two seconds of the 0-60 time of any performance car is quite a large claim. I guess the people here just require more scientific proof than some figures plucked from the air. Regardless, it's still a really nice car and you are, no doubt, very proud of it.

Mine was the same - connect and go.
-
....same engine apart from the inlet manifold, of course.

The speakers fit to the back of the door pocket. You need to take the door card off to unscrew the door pocket. I've used the standard grilles for the door speakers although they're quite tatty now after years of getting kicked. As for the amplifier cabling, it's definitely worth taking your time with the routing. Not keeping the signal and power cables separated will likely cause interference that will get right on your nerves!

Nobody on here has enough spare time to watch my Corrado wheeze its way to 60mph. I have no way to film the R1 either. Boooooooo.
-
I can remember trying to tempt a P-plate Corrado VR6 into a race on the A11 in 1996 when I had a 1990 Astra GTE 16v - he wasn't having any of it though. I don't believe I've seen another P-plate Corrado since.
-
There were definitely some F-plate right-hand drive press cars. I have a feeling they were red too.
-
It'd need to be more than REVO tuned to achieve a sub-five second 0-60.
-
I'm not so sure, if this was a 150bhp 20VT. The 150bhp engines, I believe, use the K03 turbo and that's not capable of producing 200bhp with just a remap. The K03 Sport and K04 are more suitable. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You don't have to use the speaker grilles but it's always a good idea to cover up anything worth money if you can...at least it is in this country! I expect the standard speaker wiring connects the dashboard and door speakers in parallel, i.e. the +ve cable for a particular speaker goes from the head unit to +ve terminal of the speaker in the dash position then continues to the +ve terminal of the speaker in the door....and the same for the -ve cable. I quite like the High Octane movies that come from New Zealand, although the presenter is a bit of a tool and they've become slightly lame in recent years.
