Happened to me once as well with some hunting gear from the states. First set came through no issues as ordered. A week or so later a second set then eventually a 3rd. Phoned cabellas up and they said just keep them as it costs as much to deliver back. So sold a set on ebay and got 2 sets for 1/3rd of the price of 1 set from uk dealers. Happy Chappy.

Hi Colin. Nice to see another sw Scotland lad on here, in Ayr myself. Plenty of others on the forum in and around or area. We'll see that your building the car back up you need to get some pics and a build thread going. To keep us all informed. Cheers Kev.

Ok guys, a little bit of fun here. If your going for an OEM+ build what would you buy and why. Now personally I would do the following give or take. Drivetrain Taller 5th gear conversion Replace all the bushes Replace the mounts Clutch and brakes Upgrade the brakes to a nice set of 4 pots 312mm disc out front Upgrade brake master Upgrade calipers on the back Braided lines Updated clutch Overhauled or new slave and master cylinder Suspension and wheels A good quality suspension kit with about a 30mm drop Set of 16's light weight Motorsport alloys with a very good performing tyre. Interior Retrim Custom door pods Nice custom install but stealthy at the same time Engine For the vr a Bec induction kit, mated with 263 cams and remap accordingly New hoses throughout, bottles and reservoirs. Tidy up of wiring and routing to clean the bay a bit. Exterior Minimal but small custom touches to grills, lights Highly detailed paint work. Now bearing in mind the above I would reckon a 5-7k budget would do the above. For me I think that would really freshen up the feel of the car, make it stand out in the vw scene without going show car style. I would personally love to put the time and money into my car. What about you guys and gals.

Certainly wouldn't james. It sounds too good.

Why not go all out on the Corrado. Make it a one off car that can compete with a more modern car. Personally I am in the same boat. 4 cars at the house but I would rather sell up one modern very nice car and make something special out the Corrado.

Unabused mk4 cars are hard to fine. But there are plenty of very clean examples of late mk3's available for the 3-3.5k mark. Nice to drive as well in vr6 disguise and 1.8t converted.

Welcome to the forum. Keeping them relatively standard with a few subtle mods seems to be the norm unless your going out for a show car or big power build. Touch ups in Glasgow are about the most reputable spray shop for the vow scene in Scotland. Seen a few of there re sprays and they are very good. If you are going down the re spray route then getting something a little custom colour wise is also an option. Another red that's similar that's brighter or darker for example depending on your taste is an viable option. Wheels wise, powder tec down in kinning park have done several sets for me and are reasonably priced and a decent finish. Drive in drive out option as well.

Looking good Sean. Once it's done you will be in one of the most sorted C's in the country.

Another Scottish C owner. At some point we all need to get the cars together and head down to one of the big shows.
-
looks good boss. Well worth the sacrifice of a rattle canned floor.

Are those bbs rg-f wheels. If they are I fancy those as well.

3-4 somewhere would be my guess. A lot of the hard work has been done on this car for the new owner it should be a relatively easy life as far as corrados go. However, as said before on the thread. Classic car insurance policy (130 ish for mines) and six months tax a year and an mot will cost you less than 300 a year to keep it. Is it worth selling ?

How much has been spent on your Corrado over the past 10 years?
kdub replied to andygal's topic in General Car Chat
Less than 3k in 2 years. Heading for a build next year with a 7k budget for a complete upgrade/overhaul. The way I see it though 10k say for 5 years ownership say and you have a car worth 3 to 4 ish. No different than any other 10k car in depreciation but you would be hard pushed to tick all the boxes a corrado does such as driving experience, exclusivity, pain in the arse, love hate relationship all at the same time. -
More to the point. How did she turn out, the scuttle panel I mean.....

someone might be up to something need extra security

one of the best things i have seen is a snap off steering wheel boss. makes things a little more difficult when you have no steering wheel. second thing is a cut off switch on the main power lead. Easy to wire and can be discreetly put under the seat. Very nice immobiliser and reliable. -
Me too Dave. I would rather just send my shifter down and get it back. What kind of turn around is it for the shifter mod.

When the car has been declared cat d. There should be an engineers report stating all repairs required to get it straight again. Check those parts plus the rest of the car for previous damage. Remember insurance can be higher with a written off car as well
-
To give you an example. 2 years ago my misses's car was written off 53 plate golf v6 due to a white van man scraping down the side of the car. It required a new wing, door and rear quarter repaired and 1 alloy wheel replaced. Car valued at 4200 and the insurance wrote it off as an uneconomical repair. Even though the 3 quotes using genuine parts was 22-2600 pounds. We took the money, and it was sold at auction. The guy that bought it got in touch. Long story short he repaired it for 1200 as it was an immaculate low mileage car with full history.

Highest I have seen is 36mpg on the mfa. Usually average 29-30 on the mfa which is always 1mpg out with manual calculations. It's only the second mfa I have had out of around 10 that's close to the manual figures. Had them as far as 10mpg out. When I first got the car with 68,000 on it the first few tanks after the honeymoon period saw 24-25 on the mfa. So service, fuel cleaner, plugs, leads and a good hammering saw it go up 4mpg and got rid of a couple of flat spots in the mid range. With the auto box I would expect 20-22 round town and short driving and high 20's on a steady motorway run. Around 10 percent less on an older auto is about right.

My 1.8T Rado......End of the adventure.......Gutted!

Just seen this. Gutted for you bud. -
4k will get you a very nice car. So will 3k and leave you some to add your own touches too it. As said before, keep your eyes peeled on the forums etc and wait until you find the right one. There are a lot of tarted up cars out there that look nice but require a lot of work to get into decent condition. Took me a few years to find mine to be honest and I was looking for mk1/mk2 golfs as well at the same time. Luckily stumbled across a well kept one on the forum. Also for good luck just stumbled across a 1 elderly lady owned mk2 golf runout 8V that hopefully I can persuade to get for sub 2k.

White edition then my man. More than enough for videoing and light editing for those good moments caught on camera. You can make a very very good edit with one of these. Invest in the chest mount with 1 or 2 extension pieces. Oh and jam a piece of paper between the camera attachment and the mounting point itself to stop it rocking or you get an annoying clicking on the videos audio. Set it up with the widest field of view angle and 720p shooting with the fastest frame rate. Also make sure you get the best sd card you can buy. The faster the transfer rate the better and smoother the video will be. An 16gb card class 10 (future proofs you for higher definition content). I highly recommend a Sandisk extreme card which you can get online for about 10-15 pounds. Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chest-Harness-Head-Strap-Mount-Tripod-Monopod-Adapter-for-Gopro-Hero-2-3-3-/400630155620?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d476b0964 gives you the chest harness and helmet strap so that you don't have to attach a mount to the helmet.

scratch that. The gopro white edition is a very good value for money camera and is a similar spec to the contour I mentioned above. The silver is a nice upgrade to get the faster frames per second and a higher resolution still. Black edition is for nutters like me that spend 20 hours editing a 3 minute video. Not worth the money in my opinion as I would rather have had 2 silver editions to give me 3 cameras for shooting video.
-
I have 2 gopro's HD2 and HD3 Black edition. The Black edition is marginally better and can shoot at higher resolution and if your shooting at 720p the frame rate is fast for slow motion editing. I tried the new contour roam2 the other week whilst out on my mx track it it shoots just fine and at half the price is a very good option. Quality I would say was the same as the HD2 which is still the best camera out their in my opinion for the money. Gopro's IMO are the best but all the accessories are expensive. By the time you add in a chest mount strap and a few extensions so that you can mount the camera just the way you want it you can easily be in the mid 400's. You will spend half that on the contour and they are robust as I did have a hefty crash over a 75ft table top and broke the mount off with the impact. Camera was fine.

Get someone with a trade card. Got the 120 piece for 60 the other week. I am sure it was 90 for 200 set.
