  1. Definately, the camera work and editing is in a class of its own. I guess that's where the appeal is to most.
  2. Yeah i'd agree there about Clarkson being the big hitter. Up until a few years ago his company Bedder 6 owned the majority share of TG before the BBC bought it over but realistically it's still his concept and TG would be nothing without Clarkson hence how he's still calling the shots and I also believe these boundaries must be pushed to maintain its huge popularity given the ever increasing levels of entertainment that runs alongside it for competition. I quite like it though, I don't watch tv much these days but still make sure I catch old TG on the iplayer.
  3. Not really, I still watch and enjoy it even though it's littered with inaccuracies and scripted to the minute. You see this show has no legal obligation to be factual, it's purely for entertainment purposes. I'm more bothered that people actually believe it was a genuine mistake. I wouldn't even be surprised if the argentinian aspect of the show weren't equally complicit in staging the aftermath either. Still promotes conflict at the end of the day, something the bbc like to get heavily involved with.
  4. Remember this is the bbc we're talking about. Hardly a noble institution and add to that topgears nature of attempting to cause controversy. A reg that literally spells out 1982 FKL. No coincidence there in my opinion.

  7. Although who is to say that with the huge and budget and research capabilities of top gear they didn't track this car down for it's plate. Not beyond them in the slightest. The show with the british sportscars had anagrammed, although rather innocuously, registrations that must at some point be written into the script.
  8. Top gear has a history of using cars for the number plate, i would be very surprised if it was all coincidental.
  9. Yeah basically mate, i'd leave it until the worst of the weathers gone. What i'd do is spray the underside with a strong detergent like Autosmart G101 and then have it steam cleaned but a normal pressure washer would do the job used with the detergent. As for rusty areas you can treat them and cover them with some seam sealer and paint over it or even just touched in with waxoyl. Depends how far you want to go. I have a giant trolley jack and axle stands so can get my cars pretty high to work under. I'll hopefully be going to town on my underside after the winters gone as mine is used most days regardless of weather.
  10. Underseal is a big no no in my book. Best way to devalue a car is to underseal it as it gives the impression it's hiding something. But if you do use something like that then make sure it's all bone dry beforehand as trapping moisture will accelerate corrosion. I'd simply have the underside cleaned regularly and any problem areas treated and sealed.
  11. Onlychargeddubs do rebuild kits, it's the only place i'd use mate.
  12. The general rule usually is that if there is no history then just get it done for peace of mind. Mine is well overdue, only boosting half a bar via a gauge (mfa readings aren't always accurate. Although i'm capable of doing it myself i'd rather have the documentation.
  13. If it's the high pressure line that runs from the pump to the steering rack then no jubilee clip will stem the leak.
  14. Hi, there is usually markings etched into the body of the charger somewhere as to wether it's been rebuilt before or upgraded. Unless someone's had a go at themselves with a rebuild kit. The pulley that's upgrades is the charger pulley, standard diameter is 78mm with most replacing to a 68mm and usually accompanied with an upgraded chip in the ecu.
  15. The mk3 guys seem to go crazy for a black interior light / sunroof switch combo but still ridiculous money for a trivial part. You'd have to keep pointing it out to people or hang a price tag from it to render it justifiable.
  16. I only know this as it's what happened to mine although it burst my regulator at the two 10mm bolts that secure the glass mount to the slider. That good man above 'lilfuzzer' supplied me with a replacement. I've fitted it but yet to replace bonding. I plan to use some polyurethane windscreen bonding sealant.
  17. Hi, The windows are bonded into a metal insert which is connected to the regulator. If the bonding has perished then it can come free of the glass when it's lowered. The regulator moves down but the glass momentarily sticks in the window frame then subsequently falls into the door shortly afterwards. The weight of the glass can sometimes break the regulator mechanism but wont know until it's stripped down and inspected. If it's just came out its insert in can be re-bonded in place but if it's anything other than this you'll probably be looking at a replacement regulator. Hope this helps.
  18. I was always keep an eye on ebay auctions and recently seen a G60 for spares or repair fetch £1400. Wether it was genuine bidders i'm not sure.
  19. Think it's more to do with ricers and street racers, can't envision them attempting to enforce this against organised club meets. I don't think they'll have the resources.
  20. I just replaced my regulator and regarding the rubber mountings for the motor, I drilled a hole in the side of them and pushed the old rivet head out with a screw driver so I could re-use them. Still maintained it's strength.

  23. My oldman just got this and is a true barn find. 1967 Sunbeam Alpine with under 50k which sat in an actual barn since 1984. It's absolutely hinging with rot but as you see work's getting did. We had it running sweet before it was stripped. It's in a real bad way though but we've done worse.
