  2. Gear selector tower housing 02A 301 231C 02A 311 648C sleeve bearing = which fits into top half of housing. Hello there, according to the Bentley manual the selector shaft goes up through the selector housing, and passes through a stabiliser sleeve bearing, then at the top of selector shaft you have a retaining nut, there should be a socket sleeve with a pointer or small arm, which by the looks of it connects with the reverse switch, when the selector shaft lifts up once reverse gear is selected. I can't find the part number so possibly you have to purchase the selector housing or selector tower, but that'll be too expensive I imagine. I've found a few links which list some items and their part numbers, plus a video off YouTube it's a slightly different selector but might give some insight, the only thing is the guy is talking in Russian and there's no subtitles. Hello Phil, when you receive your new fan temp sensor it should ideally come complete with a washer, this should be adequate but what I do as a extra precaution is put a very small amount of sealant over the washer to help it seal. Erm the sealant I use and have used for years is called Hylomar Blue joint compound, this is the best stuff for any coolant housing or water pump, and you can use it for valve cover and sumps, it honestly is great stuff. Also you'll need a 27mm or 29mm spanner or socket to remove the old fan sensor, and only remove it when the engine is cold. Si
  6. Also check your coolant hoses because if any are showing signs of wear, it could be a good time to change them if they are bad. The metal pipe that runs under the distributor and over the top of the gearbox slightly, this pipe is known to rust through. Also the long coolant hose from the top of expansion bottle, to top of radiator on drivers side are also known to perish. Also check your radiator at the bottom as they can leak sometimes. VW Heritage have reproduced the top coolant hose for the 16v Corrado's / MK2 Golf 16v with engine codes (9A KR PL) Part n.o 191 121 101 AC This item has been obsolete for a while but is back in stock, I think they've got roughly 100 left in stock, cost is about £12 Si
  7. Hello there, possibly could be the radiator fan sensor switch, usually is screwed into radiator on the passenger side at bottom, it'll have 3 or 4 wires going into connector plug. Normally this sensor burns out and doesn't turn the fan on, so what I've done in the past is remove the connector plug, and bridge the terminals with a small split pin to switch the fan on continuously, until I got home to replace the radiator temp sensor switch. BUT IN YOUR CASE the fan is on continuously already, so like I say possibly the radiator fan temp switch has burnt out in a way that it causes your fan to run on. Also there's a smaller over run fan switch attached to the valve cover, at the front left it screws into a small bracket, which it self is attached like I say to the front left of the valve cover. This sensor is yellow I think and only has the one wire connected to it, this temp sensor tells the fan to switch on if it detects excess heat still in engine bay, normally after a journey for more than 20 minutes or if the engine has been working hard, it'll tell the fan to come on and go off every 2 minutes until the temperature in the engine bay has been reduced enough. But these don't often go wrong, it's usually the main radiator fan temp sensor switch that play up, or it could be a wiring fault or slightly corroded warn contacts in the connector plug to fan switch.   10. Hello there, welcome back the VeeDub itch never really leaves you, it looks like a really well looked after Corrado, plus a low mileage one which is extremely rare to find now. Are you going to keep it in standard form, or have you and your brother got plans for it ? Si
  11. No worries. Not sure if there's an early type or later type crank pulley for the Corrado VR6, there could have been a very slight alteration between 1992 and 1995, but like I say I'm not sure. Si
  12. 021 105 243D Part number for VR6 type crank pulley used on Corrado, MK3 Golf and Passat from 1992 to about 1998 Also possibly used on the MK1 Ford Galaxy, that had the VR6 2.8 lump in it, but this was 24v This pulley does have a slight raised lip on the front face of pulley, but then in saying that I have seen them with quite a protruding lip, very similar to the one listed below on the Golf R32 which seems to have quite a deep lip. 022 105 243A Part number for crank pulley, used on the MK4 Golf 4motiom VR6 and also possibly used on the MK4 Golf R32 and maybe even on the later type MK1 Ford Galaxy from 1998 to roughly 2005 I think these had 24v not the 12v like on the Corrado or MK3 Golf VR6. This pulley does have the raised lip on the front face of pulley. Plus there's a pulley used on the Porsche Cayenne 3.2 and the 3.6 that have the VR6 lump in it, from roughly 2002 to about 2008 Part n.o 022 105 243 0 This appears to have a raised lip also. Also looks like there's a similar crank pulley on the MK4 Golf and Bora with the V5 2.3 engine Part n.o 071 105 243C This doesn't appear to have the raised lip on the front face of pulley though, like in your photo. Jim are you 100% sure this part number 022 105 243A isn't on that pulley in your photo ? Si

I've had my Corrado now 16-1/2 years, it's been on axle stands for the last 3 years, due to so much work needing done on it, partly because I kept putting it off and the parts simply just weren't available anymore, but thankfully VW Classic Parts and VW Heritage have reproduced so much stuff for the Corrado, I've now bought a load of parts that weren't available 3 years ago, yes I agree it is expensive and yes the car does sometimes drain your time, but you've got to remember these Corrado's were only in production for 7 to 8 years only, believe me in the next 5 to 6 years the resale prices on our Corrado's will skyrocket, and if you sell up now you'll more then likely get the VeeDub urge again, but you'll pay a lot more for one. There is well over 100 pages in the Corrado section on the VW Classic Parts site, yes there are some parts that are sadly still not available, but there's loads that are again. I'm keeping my Corrado for now especially how much money I've spent on it over the last 16 plus years. I for one have thought about selling up and getting the new MK3 Scirocco or possibly a Toyota GT86, but no I drive a late type MK3 3 door VW Polo and I've stayed with my Corrado, yes one day I'll probably sell up but not for a long time yet, plus I would want it to go to a good home. At the end of the day the final choice is up to you, whether that is down to lack of funding, no spare time, or just don't have the passion anymore. You have to do what's right for you. Si

Hi Jim, Yeah that's it your woodruff key is moulded to your pulley, very similar to how the camshaft and intermediate shaft pulleys are on the 16v Corrado's, rather then being permanently attached in the front end of crankshaft. I think your crank pulley is possibly part number 021 105 243D Si

What a turd I've misplaced my 12mm studding and tooling bits for fitting the rear axle beam bushes, so just to save time I was going to purchase the proper tool but can't see it on Ebay, looks like they sell the tool for doing the MK3 bushes though. Can you still purchase the MK2 Golf tool or will the MK3 one be ok ?? Many thanks Si
  17. Surely they can invent some kind of power cell, that will last for 8 to ten years, then you'll either have to purchase a new power cell or a new vehicle. It's like with watches you can get them with a battery that lasts for 10 to 12 years, I know on a vehicle you have a load more items to power so to speak. A miniature reactor cell or something about the size of a cigarette box :lol: Si
  18. Unbelievable they're dropping all the 3dr models including the Scirocco. They only sold just 10752 Scirocco's last year world wide :shocked!: But like you say times are changing now, plus if the government wants to ban all petrol / diesel engines by the late 2030s then these fuel prices will probably skyrocket by then, to force people to change to electric vehicles, or what ever power source will be available then. Yes I've got this issue on mine slightly, I spoke to a might of mine who's a panel beater / sprayer, he said really I've got two options. 1) is to replace the rear panel. 2) is to carefully prize a part the seam flaps, and give them a good clean, i.e removing all the loose surface rust to get clean metal, then use a good rust eater which stops the rust forming again, paint it up and then wax oil. Like I say that was his advice. Also what Sean82 has said it must be where water collects or sits. Si
  20. Thanks guys for info and advice, I'll think about it, as A_RIOT says it'll probably make one hell of a mess especially outside on the drive. It's just trying to get all the surface rust that's up and around the rear torsion bar area, mainly as space their is so confined, hence thinking of sand blasting it. The rest of the rear beam is cleaned up and painted pretty much. Thanks again Si
  21. Have any of you used fine walnut shells when doing sand blasting ? To be honest I've used sand blasters before, but that was using fine grit, plus it was inside a chamber unit if you know what I mean. I was thinking of sand blasting my rear axle beam, mainly the inside area = where the torsion bar is. To be honest I've seen a few videos on YouTube, and they say that the walnut shells are best for outside use, as there biodegradable and not like all the others, where there made from more harmful chemicals.   22. You might be on to something here as like you say, if the geometry is way out or is left out for long periods, it possibly could cause slight damage to the wheel hub housing ? Who knows anything is possible I suppose. Si
  23. Yeah as above it's better using a 10 tone or 15 tone press when fitting the cartridge type bearings, as using a hammer and socket can damage the seals, and there's a small risk of creating fine metal filings which could possibly get into bearing if the seal is damaged. Si
