  1. Indeed, right opposite the Opel manta Owners Club  Mike and Ed from Wheeler Dealers within shouting distance, too :) Tempest
  2. Opening times for this event, in case you want to come and visit the hardy bunch manning the CCGB stand :) Friday, 15 November: 10:00 - 18:30 Saturday, 16 November: 9:00 - 18:30 Sunday, 17 November: 9:00 - 17:30 Still have 2 slots for Rados available :) Come and say hello. Tempest
  3. The first chip is an after-market one. The second one is missing the sticker covering the EPROM wipe window, so difficult to tell whether that was thew original one. The M27C256B bit on the second chip just tells you what type of EPROM it is (pretty generic one in those days), and ST is the manufacturer, as was Motorola and some others. The original chip would have a sticker on the EPROM wipe window with the following written on it: Bosch/VW 037 906 022 B or the last letter could be a DP, EH or DM. The B one was for 95-octane fuel, the DP has 98-octane data sets in the chip. Tempest
  4. And looks like that´s solved the issue of wheels/tyres stand proud of the arches :) Tempest
  5. Whatever you do, do not drive that G60 any more (see G60 on fire threads somewhere here on the forum) till you fix that issue. Many a G60 have unnecessarily burnt out because of fuel leaking from hoses / past clamps onto the hot manifold. The solenoid is the fuel pressure switch, used for the fuel pump and cooling fan after-run. I replaced all the fuel hoses in my G60 bay some time ago, went for braided hoses, and decent Hi-Grip clamps. Tempest
  6. Ur-Scirocco for me all the way  Hate that new fangled thing that undeservedly wears the badge of such an iconic 70s car. Choice between the 2? None. Both go under in the current ocean of mediocrity on the roads. Not sure what to buy, because I don´t buy new cars :) Tempest
  7. It´s not looking like it´s going to happen at this rate. Would like to contact organiser to get stand, but not for just 3 cars. Tempest
  8. Any more takers? Free entry to the show for the owner of the car! Temepst
  9. 2 deffos, 1 maybe and then there's me (deffo, to make numbers up). That 1 maybe is too uncertain, ideally need another 2 deffos. Reads like secret language somehow ... Tempest
  10. Found this nice article in a recent German mag commemorating the 25th anniversary of our beloved sports coupe: http://www.focus.de/auto/news/tid-34050/25-jahre-vw-corrado-so-heiss-war-der-bauern-porsche-von-vw_aid_1124310.html OK, let´s see what Google translate makes out of all of that. Thankfully I can read German  Nice though for the German press (not even a car magazine, rather than something comparable to a general news rag like, erm, yes, don´t read any UK rags, just German ones ;) ) to pick up on this :) Tempest
  11. Keep ´m coming. So potentially have 3 yays, and if I can be bothered to take one of my own cars (won´t be the C, because that typically stays SORNed till Stanford Hall in May), 4 cars. Need 5 realistically to not lose face with the organiser (done that 2 times before). Actually first year there was no more dedicated Rado stand (well from CCGB point of view) was 2008. Despite this the Scirocco register have been going each year, and have managed to fill their stand quite nicely. Their secret to success has been to bring along a selection of absolutely standard/original cars, which easily stand out in the huge ocean of modded VWs. Tempest
  12. Hi folks, It´s that time of year again, that I tend to get my head round sorting out meets to attend etc. Best things to do when the nights get longer, car´s laid up in garages, too cold out there to work :) Anyway after a few years of absence at Ultimate Dubs in Telford, I was wondering whether there may be a renewed interest possible amongst Corrado aficionados in terms of attending this show, that usually marks the opening of the new show season. It is admittedly very sceney, and that may have put off some folk from attending, but hey, here´s trying. So, could I potentially get 4-5 folk interested to put their Rados onto a CCGB clubstand for the 2014 event? You need to drop off your Rado on Saturday 8 March, leave overnight, show is Sunday 9 March. So, gauging interest in this one, before I get round to the more ¨pressing shows¨ Discuss :) Tempest
  13. That to me was the link to Chris Gaskell, a good commemoration, given who it was driven by, one of Chris´ very close friends, and since Chris owned a new Scirocco, too, that he used to slag off no end (but at the same time did mention a few good things about it, too), it was somehow fitting to have it on our stand. Tempest
  14. Seems like a monologue here  Anyway, received this from the organisers :) Tempest
  15. I would have thought so, but didn´t get a chance to talk to the owner and ask to pop the bonnet. If it was a real 924 Carrera GT then it should have the Turbo engine. Tempest
  16. That black one with the ¨strange¨ rear lights, they were from a Mustang. Didn´t particularly rock my boat, and on closer inspection the whole job wasn´t particularly brilliantly executed I thought. Front end is Strosek. Tempest
  17. Annual 928-meet on the cricket ground of Tilford, 50 928s turned up in total. Not bad for a loose mailing list. Always thought that the colour of my 928, baltic blue, was rare, then 3 others in the same colour turn up  Pics: Tempest
  18. Anyone else? Fully manned stand, so even if you can´t or don´t want to be attending the show for the full 3 days (Fri till Sun), there will be someone on the stand during all 3 days watching over the cars. Nearby cheap hotels (lots of things to see around Birmingham and Coventry, too): Ibis in Coventry, Premier Inn in Coventry, both a 10-minute train trip from the NEC (NEC has its own train station where pretty much all trains including Virgin Pendolinos stop), and Coventry is cheaper for hotels than staying either in Birmingham or on the NEC site itself. Birmingham does have the full German Xmas market in full swing during that weekend, too, another reason to come down (or up, depending on where in the country you are), methinks :) Tempest
  19. Still have spaces left. Don't be shy, this is an excellent show to visit if you're remotely interested in anything car-related :), let alone if you are seriously interested in anything to with cars and our Rados in particular. Your car does NOT need to be in concours condition for you to display it on CCGB club stands, btw, folks, just get it on the stand :) Tempest
  20. My advice still stands of recommending VW´s own orange-smell glue remover. 0.9 liter tin costs something like 21 Quid, though :-O Tempest
  21. Keep that momentum on articles, Jim's standing by :) Few minutes less on this forum gas-bagging, and you've got an article for the Sprinter :) Tempest
  22. CCGB runs Joomla with several plug ins to get features such as forum, events calendar, pics area, log-in/membership renewals and loads of tools for admins to manage it all. This is different to ¨just¨ running a forum. That´s why CrazyDave originally chose the Joomla platform to move things forward when he took over as webmaster few years ago. That solution has served the CCGB well. Tempest
  23. If the thread starter had attended the National Day with all its whistles and bells, or indeed looked at the pics posted pretty much on the main Corrado forums and individual member´s pages (where applicable), then the answer to the question of whether the CCGB is nearing its end is a resounding NO, I am pleased to say. Not sure why this thread is necessary, but await any attempts by the thread starter of being enlightened, of course. Tempest
  24. Another excellent issue indeed :) Tempest
