  1. I must admit that I haven't had any probs with my smoked ones: They fitted fine first time round (no need to widen up holes in the tailgate), they don't leak despite my Rado having to stand the British weather day and night (no garage  ). OK, not quite a black Rado, but a dark one  Tempest
  2. Ohhh, that Mk1 Rocco is sweet 8) Tempest
  3. OK, own up  : Whose is the violet VR6 (Storm badged) N323FLC Rado that's parked in the TechnoCentre car park in Coventry this morning? Shoot, support call (networking probs) , so can't get take a piccie. OK, got rid of the guy, here's a pic (and yes he could do with some new tail lights  ) Tempest
  4. OK, the In.Pros come in 3 varieties: Smoked, clear and clear/red. Prices should be around the £150--£160 mark (possibly incl. postage, if I bargain hard enough), but that's still well under the Venom prices of £230  OK, some piccies of all 3 types: Tempest
  5. Hi folks, Suddenly realised that as the sticky'ed thread here on a group buy for In.Pro taillights has been around for some time, potentially any new postings won't get read. That's why I've opened this thread just to let you know that if sufficient folk are interested, I'm quite willing to organise another group buy, given that the last one was almost a year ago. So, if you're interested, why not post up in the original thread or PM me, and I'll get counting, as I would ideally need 10 to get a similar discount to the one at the beginning of 2004. Tempest
  6. Can only agree with Supercharged there, VWM is about the only mag that I occasionally buy (especially when it had a certain red Mk1 Rocco on the title page  ). The other 2 mags are entertaining and that's about it, useless, ... OK, I'll stop. Tempest
  7. OK, folks: How about another group buy of In.Pro's finest taillights for the Corrado? All In.Pro lights have E-markings, whereas FK after initially having started to mark theirs with an E-mark, seem to have started to slip non-E-marked versions onto the German (and hence other EU markets) market again Pricing still needs to be confirmed, but seems to be similar to last year's group buy. Names please :D, ideally need 10 again :D Tempest
  8. Hmm, 101K on the Rado, 143K on the Mk2 Rocco, and 115K on the Mk1 Rocco, all just about run in  Tempest
  9. Henny has pretty much already summarised it, but just in case you've got a slightly differnet variety of air-intake cover and ECU-cable connector: On my Rado, once you've lifted the plastic scuttle tray cover and bent it towards the windscreen the black plastic meshed filter cover assembly over the air-intake has a little plastic slider right next to the wing. Sliding this slider towards the wing will just reveal enough of a large diameter hole, so you can move the whole plastic cover aseembly towards the wing, and then lift it out. The ECU cable on my Rado just has a spring release mechanism on the side of the plug closest to the engine bay. Once this has been undone, you rotate the plug out towards the firewall, and ultimately it'll come off the ECU. Be very careful when moving the big cable and plug aside, as you then carry on with the taking the ECU out (as the cable cannot take that much strain, quite a few signal wires going through). Henny's right in that closest to the olug end of the ECU there is a locking nut, that once undone, allows you to slide the ECU and bracket that it is mounted on towards the off-side wing. Getting it out of the scuttle area, passed the cable + plug is a bit fiddly, especially as you don't want to scratch the paint. Getting it back in again is also a lot of fun  Tempest
  10. Erm, Corrado still was derived from the Spanish verb correr, to run. Through contacts, that I may be able to tap into again. I should know more after Xmas, I hope, as I'm planning on meeting up with a few over in Germany. Tempest
  11. Yup, use a proper jack and axle stands I always do, even given that for a lot of jobs it may take more time to jack up the Rado and get it on stands than the actual job. I have never used or relied on the jacks supplied with my Karmann coupes. Then again, I don't have such luxury as a bricked drive to work on my Rado, half of the car standing on the concrete bit in front of my garagae, the other half in the mud of the back alleyway. Recently as I was changing the starter motor (once again , but a new one from GSF at long last sorted it :D ), I couldn't get the front engine mount bracket and the gearbox lined up for the lower bolt to engage despite jacking up the engine + gearbox with a trolley jack, ultimately the Rado fell off the jack, as the jack tumbled in the mud  Good job, I wasn't underneath, the Rado sat on the axle stands again, and lo' and behold that had done the trick in terms of lining up the bracket and gearbox hole for the bolt to slide through  Tempest
  12. Herbert Schäfer and the in-house VW design team generally are known as the folk responsible for the Corrado. He should still be alive  It might be more likely to organise a tour through the Karmann factory then to get Mr Schäfer invited across to the UK, methinks  Tempest
  13. There was a difference in fuel pumps for G60 Rados, from 10/89 onwards (that would apply to yours), the fuel pump is one large unit that sits in your tank, accessible after removing the cover plate inside your boot. There was a thread here some time ago (here) on fuel pumps for later G60s. Tempest
  14. Nah, just get a LHD Rado, and you'll enjoy the best of both worlds, being the driver and the sound :D Tempest
  15. Good luck, would be good if you could take it further. I recently contacted MK VW HQ regarding the heater matrix and whether I could benefit from a free recall for my VW dealer to fit a bypass valve, but the answer i got was twofold: a) As I have a US-spec Rado, they couldn't find mine on their data base of VINs, even though I gave them both the official US-VIN and the ZZZ-containg rest-of-world VIN, and b) they simply told me the car was too old  So much for VWs opinion on safety issues on our beloved Rados  Tempest
  16. Milltek does it for me on my Rado, shame that in my US-spec Rado, the sound deadening is so sophisticated, that I don't actually hear much unless I wind down the windows (which, of course you don't with airco  ). Tempest
  17. Yeah, I know that feeling, getting caught speeding just owning the Rado G60. The same happened to me, driving mine home from Aberdeen, where I'd bought mine, nicely cruising along in the dusk, when suddenly 2 bright flashes illuminated the sky, and I got that feeling that literally all the other cars were laughing, pointing at me going "It was him, it was him!" Luckily the camera proved to be empty  Yup, all the others have already mentioned the issue with setting the speed at which the spoiler raises by means of a resistor inside the spoiler controller unit. I'm still toying with the idea of just running a pot to the resistor location and replace it, so that you can in effect regulate the speed at which the spoiler raises on the fly, so to speak. One day I'll get round to that  Tempest
  18. Yup, the S4 was based on the Audi 100, the Avant being the estate version, practical and fast at the same time :D John said he'd spend nearly 2.4k alone on the paint work  Yes, his tail lights are just tinted unlike mine :D Funnily enough there were some InPros in Stealth's little diaply cabinet at the front counter, didn't dare ask him how much he charges for 'm, though  Tempest
  19. Having already been up to Stealth at the beginning of this week to drop off my business partner's Audi 100 Avant S4, I spotted a nice perlescent green Rado parked at the rear of the Stealth premises, it belongs to John, who works at Stealth. Ok, I only had the boring Ford Escort delivery van with me, but today decided to go back in style, and park my US-spec Rado next to his  : His is pumping out a leisurely 290 bhp (Audi TT engine), it's for sale for a nice £9500  , and he's looking at buying a white one as well, stripping it though, dropping in a Turboblock, and doing that up to about 600 bhp  , ready for some serious work on the strip at Santa Pod and such like. Anyway, I also had a chance of driving my business partner's Audi, once we'd arrived back at work, haded over the keys, after a £500 bill at Stealth (cambelt, tensioner, auxiliary belt change, new dump-valve - OK could have done the latter ourselves) had brought back all 220 horses under the bonnet again. OK, here we go, onto the A46 ... vroooommmmm!!! What a beast, it's even got 6 gears to play around with :D Turned around at the next junction, sped down the feeder lane, each time flooring it, and wow, I was well impressed :D The Audi looks like a total sleeper, but it has plenty of torque in pretty much all gears under almost any condition, never sounding tired or strained (actually you hardly heard anything inside, it all stayed very refined, except for the brutal forces pushing you into those lovely Quattro seats :D ) Erm, yes, he now wants to test drive my Rado  , whilst he's already planning the next upgrade, a larger intercooler and new chip to take him to 300 bhp!!! This engine will happily go up to 500 bhp, and remains solid and reliable, as demonstrated by Audi themselves. OK, enough of that, I'll treat myself to the better looking yet slower car tonight again ... Tempest
  20. As the FKs are a German product by a German company, the only correct spelling (as on their German-language website, who cares about the international bit  ?) is with an ö, as König in German means King, referring to this being their top-end coilover (that was before the introduced the Inox range). Yes, they are quite nice, not as nice as my Sachs Racing coilovers on my Mk1, though, hard-like-a-plank  Tempest
  21. Nice cars indeed, designed by the same bloke who did the Mk1 Rocco, Giugiaro from ItalDesign :D Tempest
  22. Guys, quite simple on a UK keyboard: FK Königsport Gewindefahrwerk, as also fitted to my Mk2 Storm Rocco  , the ö is ALT+NUM0246, just for your info :D Tempest
  23. Yup, Jeremy, get back to your Rocco-text books  , that ain't no Mk2 Rocco, that's one heck of neat looking Mk1  There was a targaroof Mk1 Rocco at Roadstar 2004 as well: Yup, definitely not a Rieger GTB Evolution front skirt (I would know :D ), but still nice looking :D Tempest
  24. There is a reasonably interesting article on speed cameras in this month's VWM magazine, as well an interesting (if somewhat flawed) buyers guide to the Corrado :D Tempest
  25. Yup, I do recognise that calendar  Is that GEMO-bag next to it still there as well? Tempest
