V Nice 8) what are the wheels Leon?

Bled the brakes then realised the OSR brake was binding, so took caliper off and back on - sorted. Handbrake adjusted too.

Got my spoiler working :D previous owner thought it would be a good idea to remove the speed sensor , managed to get a new one from a friend breaking a Corrado .also noticed though when testing to see if it was working that I'm smoking under acceleration :(

Is it just me or do all Corrados go better when they are clean?

Fact!

Stainless bolts on my tank straps, sprayed some zinc stuff about an straightened my exhaust. Simple but made me happy :)

 yes clean does seem to make a difference... they punish us hard when they're left being dirty.

Today i took the Corrado for the dreaded MOT. It failed unsuprisingly, though i expected it to fail on the handbrake efficiency and OS drop link. However the handbrake passed, though still needs adjusting to sort that. But failed for NS drop link, number plate bulb - no biggies. But also it failed for NS inner track rod ball joint - which is odd as both NS and OS track rods were changed less than a year ago.. so to have excessive play in what 16 months seems really odd and its not been used that much.

Still... could be worse.

Re-stuck the trim near the bottom of the driver-side wing as it had become a little loose after the recent tart-up. One piece of 1/8 inch foam tape on theback of it and that was sorted. Then I tackled the door check strap, pin... whatever it's called, as my driver side one has been broken for ages.

Not a too bad a job considering - just a little over an hour to replace it. The door card came off easier than i thought it would, so that was a big relief. What is that strange looking piece of plastic that the end of the door strap/pin fits into? I managed to get it out, but I couldn't for the life of me get it back in again!! I closed the door to see if anything was untoward but the window goes up and down OK when the door is open and closed, so I don't think it's going to be a problem. Got the door card back on with all the electrics present and correct, so there's one happy bunny here with a garage bill saved. :)

Visited my local specialist Friday and had both inner tie rod with TRE's replaced (TRW brand) along with their boot gaiters plus a CV boot as well that was an advisory on the last MOT. Finally got round to fitting the Osram Night Breaker Bulbs that I've had kicking around for a couple of months, all screws came out easily so piece of cake with the whole headlamp assy out, also gave me a chance to clean behind there.

Finally went early Sat AM to the excellent Chris Mullins in Gloucester ( http://www.chrismullins.co.uk/ ) to have the geometry set up again, took it for a quick spin afterwards and it feels much nicer allround to drive now.

There was an interesting review of some draft 42 products on VR6OC - http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?504839

Think with a little more attention to detail they could be some sellers from them, PCV stuff looks interesting, but would it not make sense just to pick up a new valve from ford, the prices ain't that far apart?

I have one of their inlet elbows fitted, it's great! Mine's not noticeably creased but then it's the OBD1 version (extra outlet on the outside for the ISV). The PCV adapter is a waste of time though, he could have just bought the PCV-delete hose from Roose for a tenner...

I cranked my suspension up 10mm at the front today, hoping to stop my dented wing cutting strips off the outside of the tyre when I corner. Seems to ride a lot better and looks less nose-heavy so probably worthwhile! Need to start finishing my projects, my head rebuild is going well so that will be on soon. Then I can start thinking about cruise control again :)

Having gone through multiple standard hoses (mine's an earlier VR that never had the valve - just a hose) - I didn't want to buy yet another hose - silicone or not - so I'm quite happy with the replacement metal tube (assuming it's still in one piece in a few years time). Conversely, I've never had a problem with the standard inlet, so for me that would be a waste of money - unless it's purely for cosmetic purposes or for smoother airflow.

Fair enough, I only did it because the rest of my inlet is made of orange silicone and aluminium  Just need to get a plate welded onto my aluminium MAF housing for the IAT now...

Dug out the still fresh pot of paint from the respray last year and used a calligraphy brush to touch in some detail on the sills. Very pleased too. The did some hefty polishing and tried out the "Sonic Scrubber" - yes you did read that right, that I bought in Aldi. Genius thing it is too. Cleaned all the crud off my rear lock and was great at removing dirt around bolts in the engine bay. I even did the backs of the bonnet supports and look forward to another work out with me scrubber.

Entered the Show 'N' Shine and came second to the gleaming VR6 in my head. Ah well, better luck next time eh?

MOT on Monday so I did some basic checks. I found that both number plate lights were out. This seemed strange as the garage said they replaced one last year so after popping it out I found the wire had been broken... I'm guessing it's been broken ever since I bought the car. So I soldered in a new piece of wire.

One bulb is still out but the other is working now so I will try and get a new bulb before Monday. But hopefully with one of the two bulbs working it shouldn't cause a fail.

Discovered how to get extra MPG and increased speed today - took the back wheel off and found a ton of dirt around the sills. Cleaned it all out. Just need to do the others now! Pic shows before a clean. . Then it was time to move the VR6 badge which had been put on the wrong side after the re-spray. After looking on here for the relevant info, I got myself some tape. Carefully peeled of the VR6 badge which left some sticky sponge residue (this easily cleaned off). Stuck the badge to the tape and cut away excess tape. Then fixed it where it should have been. Looks just right - again!
