Gearbox clatter

If it as VR6 are you Sure this is not the timing chain clattering because the guides have failed , if so do not drive the car or could lead to catastrophic engine failure.
2. Cant feel the pedal pulsing, It take you mean that you can feel the pedal depress a few times on start up , put my hand on the brake pedal and could not feel anything.
3. Yes the Abs light comes on start up and then goes off. Ill try the pulse test now on the pedal, never even knew it did that to be honest.
4. If you read the description below off ross Tek mine says mechanical static so not listed as a fault. 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44): Signal Outside Specifications 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44): Electrical Fault in Circuit Possible Causes Open Circuit in Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) faulty Possible Solutions Check Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44): Mechanical Malfunction Possible Causes Excessive Air Gap between ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) and Rotor Short Circuit in Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) faulty Possible Solutions Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) Installation Check Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44)
5. Thanks Dox. They certainly could be historic . Tried clearing them and it said failed to clear , never had any other issues deleting other codes, Im wondering if it is a live feed data , because I think on VCDS if you spin the wheels it will give you a read out .
6. Ive emailed Vince the codes Ill update on here what the conclusion is.
7. Yes you do not own a Rado for economical reasons that for sure ha ! But the time and money you have spent on your ABS system is a perfect example of why you wouldn't let your car sell for cheap.
8. Wow that sounds like a big job ! I had new lines put in as well to the rear wheels maybe it’s something to do with that . I take it there is just one light on the abs switch in the middle strip that illuminates just in case I have some bulbs out . My light comes on start up but always turns off whilst driving .
9. Thanks Dox VCDS is obviously the best tool for the job, I've got a feeling that they are nothing to worry about, think it might be like fault code 00513 engine speed sensor that will come on if the engine is not on but not appear if the engine is running. The light does stay off.
10. Hi Folks. I was scanning my car for faults earlier with a V Gate scanner , just a cheapo scanner . Whilst scanning the ABS it came up with faults codes below, rear left and right abs speed sensors. The ABS light comes on start up and turns off as it should and never lights up whilst driving. Its says static mechanical. Does this mean that they are not actually faults and the car wheels are just static. Any advice would be appreciated , I don't think the sensors are not working as a bit of a coincidence its both rear sides and abs light does not come on whilst driving. Also brakes seem to be working as they should. If anyone has a V Gate scanner could they see if these codes come up whilst scanning their car , I scanned the car with the engine running but stationary. Also it would not let me erase the codes for some reason. Thank You Pictures of fault codes.
11. I sold my R129 sl500 for 14k with 130k on the clock, other examples with the same mileage were on the market for 5-6k . There are buyers out there that want to enjoy the car and not have the hassle of renovating , also it is normally cheaper to buy a car that has been renovated rather then doing it yourself . If you have a hpi free car with receipts, well documented and history to justify your price it will sell for strong money , I wouldn’t let mine go for less then 10k to be honest. I would rather keep it as that’s what a well sorted one will cost you to renovate the car and purchase, even more to be fair more like 12k to get one mint.
12. To be fair I think it says it has a recent receipt for 5k , so with the low mileage it is worthy at a least 15k in my opinion. However if I had 20k to splash out I would probably go for a 996 that had a lot of work completed , i.e Hartech engine rebuild and new suspension. Or could even buy a very clean MK2 GTI and sorted Rado for 15K. Or how's about a Lotus Esprit.
13. This looks good. Direct fit no spacers or anything. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BBS-RS771-16-Alloy-Wheels-x5-With-Tyres-205-55-16-5x100-6-5j-ET42-Golf-Mk4-Bora/223590966944?hash=item340f0f66a0:g:NJsAAOSwKjFdL5xm
14. Thanks I have got a new OE silver one with a black circumference but my tailgate decal is black so thought I would match it up. I wonder how many of these grills they have left because if you get the old cable/trumpet snapping on the bonnet release you might have to crack open the grill , sort of part that would be good to have a spare or two. Bet you can't wait mate with that honed engine head, very nice !! Alloys BBS RS771 IMO they are the bargain split rims in the BBS world, grab a set for a good price while you can .
15. Very happy with the new grill, It's an original VW part which I was happy to see. The car should cool a bit better with the new grill and the three openings, with the new decals and fog lights it has refreshed the nose quite nicely. Davina air con

Good luck with this.
17. You can get a 3 opening slat or known as a 5 grill from VW Heritage for about £50 , its an option. Put latebay in voucher code and I think you get 10 % off. https://www.vwheritage.com/535853653a-front-grille-with-hole-for-badge-5-slat-in-black-vw-spare
18. That would make sense but Vince said emissions which would also make sense as there was a change in emissions law towards the the last couple of years of the Rado manufacturing life span.
19. Two options of thickness , late and early style. https://dreadnoughtcustoms.co.uk/products/vw-corrado-bonnet-lining-2?variant=12562635915349 This looks like a young company that is growing, might email them tomorrow and ask them about scrapers and can they chat to Vintage rubber in the USA.
20. Delfinis. I;m not sure how it effects emissions, unless more air in the engine bay causes drag creating less mpg , god knows.
21. I have a very late front grill , after speaking to Vince he explained to me that the very late grills (last year or so) only have one opening to Chanel air into the radiator . I have now ordered a late style grill to help cool the radiator which has three opening vents. The reason they blocked the grills was to help with emissions apparently but crap for cooling. Run out grills blocked
22. Sorry posted the grill on the wrong thread. moving
23. I'm pretty sure they would send some free samples to Heritage , at the end of the day if a retailer has a platform to sell their products in Europe why wouldn't they, just need a UK supplier who is willing to pick up the phone and chat , just need a enthusiastic buyer and product researcher working for one of these companies really.
24. Also the inside scrapers the one that has the trim that runs on top the the door card(think it comes in two parts), rare as hens teeth these days. They can crack and look awful inside the car . Vintage rubber in the USA do all of these , I wish heritage could get a batch of samples over , hey ho !
25. Love the old classic 900 Turbo. I remember when I was working away at Sandringham Palace erecting some handrails dummied into the ground for a country fair in about 91 , one of Prince Phillips low level relatives was driving round the fields in one and I said nice motor mate and he pulled over and showed me round the car, best interior in the world !!! Also can't quite remember but I was asked to keep watch over a horse that was in the back of horse truck, it so goes that horse was an old Red Rum himself that was attending the show as a bit of a star!
