1. Thought I would start this thread so I can share which aftermarket parts have failed on my car that were relatively new and other members can add on. Please note that it is possible I was unlucky and got a bad egg out of the factory. These parts were professionally fitted. Topran oil cooler. Noticed oil in the top of the coolant reservoir after 2 months of been fitted. Was really worried it was the head gasket, after chatting to Vince at stealth he insured me in all his career that he had only seen one blown head gasket that had caused oil in the coolant in a VR6, there was no coolant in the oil if that makes sense. After taking the Topran cooler off and testing it with air pressure in a bucket of water bubbles starting popping out , cooler had failed after 800 miles . Had to flush the coolant system and Install a new cooler a right pain!. This time I went with a Hella cooler and no problem since. Coolant is now clean as a whistle. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HELLA-OEM-Quality-Oil-Cooler-Seal-for-VW-Mk2-Mk3-GTI-16V-T25-T4-068117021B/401070088013?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 New JP GROUP Air Mass Flow Sensor 1193902400 Caused a fault code 00561 mixture adaption , fault code came shortly after installation, car ran rich with poor MPG. Bosch OE Mass sensor cured the problem immediately.
2. Nice one for the link that is a good price to.
3. This is the case so Ive put it to rest, however I did notice a missing rear ABS cable holder, thankfully got a couple spare.
4. Thanks mate have you a link for one. Definitely works on OBD1 technology? Cheers.
5. Think seller might be a corrado forum member user Tone so mention you are a member on here fellow.
6. Can you ask this seller to remove the fuel lines for you and sell them to you a lot cheaper stand alone. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/283539656548
7. Got you mate that is a right trek and a half, its about 50 minutes away from me , if I was planning a trip there I would of grabbed you one bud for sure. We need a local off here to start grabbing a few parts and make it their worth while .
8. Also might be worth looking at other VR6 models like the Passat to see if ones can be still sourced and may be able to modify.
9. AMOS will have some in Derby mate but your better off going down there as his busy as hell and take a while to post them, or phone up Vince from Stealth I'm sure he will have a solution.
10. The cloth patterns on the Corrado are pretty dull , that era was pretty gross design, some of the mk3 golf interiors to, they went backwards form great cloth designs in the MK2 golf. I would wait in till a good came along with the leather personally as it's going to cost you a fair bit to get a full leather set.
11. You want the leather in black , even better the recaros in cloth or leather .
12. Thanks Im going to pop down Stealth on a Saturday morning at some point, he emailed tonight saying if the light does not show it's ugly head after start up then there is nothing to worry about amd as you mentioned they are probably historic and the V gate is unable to delete them.

Gearbox clatter

OK it;s just when you said like marbles shaking, that is the exact description I have seen before for a failing timing chain.
14. Keyo

Gearbox clatter

If it as VR6 are you Sure this is not the timing chain clattering because the guides have failed , if so do not drive the car or could lead to catastrophic engine failure.
15. Cant feel the pedal pulsing, It take you mean that you can feel the pedal depress a few times on start up , put my hand on the brake pedal and could not feel anything.
16. Yes the Abs light comes on start up and then goes off. Ill try the pulse test now on the pedal, never even knew it did that to be honest.
17. If you read the description below off ross Tek mine says mechanical static so not listed as a fault. 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44): Signal Outside Specifications 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44): Electrical Fault in Circuit Possible Causes Open Circuit in Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) faulty Possible Solutions Check Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) 00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44): Mechanical Malfunction Possible Causes Excessive Air Gap between ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) and Rotor Short Circuit in Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) faulty Possible Solutions Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) Installation Check Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44) Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Right (G44)
18. Thanks Dox. They certainly could be historic . Tried clearing them and it said failed to clear , never had any other issues deleting other codes, Im wondering if it is a live feed data , because I think on VCDS if you spin the wheels it will give you a read out .
19. Ive emailed Vince the codes Ill update on here what the conclusion is.
20. Yes you do not own a Rado for economical reasons that for sure ha ! But the time and money you have spent on your ABS system is a perfect example of why you wouldn't let your car sell for cheap.
21. Wow that sounds like a big job ! I had new lines put in as well to the rear wheels maybe it’s something to do with that . I take it there is just one light on the abs switch in the middle strip that illuminates just in case I have some bulbs out . My light comes on start up but always turns off whilst driving .
22. Thanks Dox VCDS is obviously the best tool for the job, I've got a feeling that they are nothing to worry about, think it might be like fault code 00513 engine speed sensor that will come on if the engine is not on but not appear if the engine is running. The light does stay off.
23. Hi Folks. I was scanning my car for faults earlier with a V Gate scanner , just a cheapo scanner . Whilst scanning the ABS it came up with faults codes below, rear left and right abs speed sensors. The ABS light comes on start up and turns off as it should and never lights up whilst driving. Its says static mechanical. Does this mean that they are not actually faults and the car wheels are just static. Any advice would be appreciated , I don't think the sensors are not working as a bit of a coincidence its both rear sides and abs light does not come on whilst driving. Also brakes seem to be working as they should. If anyone has a V Gate scanner could they see if these codes come up whilst scanning their car , I scanned the car with the engine running but stationary. Also it would not let me erase the codes for some reason. Thank You Pictures of fault codes.
24. I sold my R129 sl500 for 14k with 130k on the clock, other examples with the same mileage were on the market for 5-6k . There are buyers out there that want to enjoy the car and not have the hassle of renovating , also it is normally cheaper to buy a car that has been renovated rather then doing it yourself . If you have a hpi free car with receipts, well documented and history to justify your price it will sell for strong money , I wouldn’t let mine go for less then 10k to be honest. I would rather keep it as that’s what a well sorted one will cost you to renovate the car and purchase, even more to be fair more like 12k to get one mint.
25. To be fair I think it says it has a recent receipt for 5k , so with the low mileage it is worthy at a least 15k in my opinion. However if I had 20k to splash out I would probably go for a 996 that had a lot of work completed , i.e Hartech engine rebuild and new suspension. Or could even buy a very clean MK2 GTI and sorted Rado for 15K. Or how's about a Lotus Esprit.
