The only thing I can hope for and this is coming from someone is absolutely shit with electrics is that some how the electrics inside the fan unit can determine off the other three cable speed settings. grrrr why can the b....... just have 4 pins ! Have an old grotty stock motor but nothing worse then putting a 27 year old part on your .
  2. So the black and red cable on picture is the one from the missing power plug which is at the bottom pin Also picture showing that the unit physically fits an old shroud I have. Also picture of loom plug bottom middle connector would be black and red cable.

  4. Yes I know there is four on factory but is it possible that it can still work with three pins as the electrics may be different in the fan unit
  5. I was thinking attach three female to the fan plug and then three males to the plug loom on to three lines of cable. Or if loom cable is long enough put fan in my old fan should and hold the frame above engine bay and see if fan comes on.
  6. Thanks chap Im pretty certain the new fan will work and just want to make sure it comes on through the different settings as when the sensors ecu instruct it to on various coolant temperatures.
  7. Im not sure I will be able to check speeds as wouldn't really want to go past setting 1 due to fan not cooling rad. .
  8. Ok chap like three cables with males and females ? One thing I can say is the fan is very heavy indeed which is a good sign of quality and bares the Hella hall marks. Thanks

  10. Guys I got the new Hella Rad fan today- tell me if this is abad or good idea please. Unplug the loom plug out of fan and plug into new fan not installed to test- but how can I hold the fan safely without chopping fingers off- want to start car and see if it comes on when it should. Obviously dont want to overheat the car either as installed fan will not cool facing radiator as will be redundant . I will turn ignition off as soon as rad comes on- I will need two people I guess. I do have an old fan shroud maybe pop it in there and hold corners of shroud flat on engine bay ? ? Thanks

Cant think of any other plausible reason - one other thing I have noticed is late VR blocks even in 2.9 form have a different bottom end casing- has engine number on the rear of the block not the side and also has some additional threaded holes in the casing on the side of the block behind the timing tensioner= have no idea why unless it was something to do with OBD2 and additional auxiliaries housing off the block . All storms will have this casing including my own late car.

  13. I would check my chip but Vince got it - gave me a free Stealth scrhick chip as rebuilt my engine but kept the old one- probably wanted a mooch at it. 😅 Probably was AMD as you say but the firm went bump for sure..
  14. Thats not one who did my original chip - you will know them Dox they would of been mentioned on here a lot. They are not in business anymore for sure went bump.
  15. Who was the other firm in Oxfordshire that was famous for ecu chips (now gone)- Vince took one of there chips out of my VR ECU and said something about how he use to cut something off them he shouldnt of and Vince found a better way to fit the chips.
  16. Yeah Mark Yates his still about and works in something else I cant quite remember - bit of a story. I take it BR Motorsports did quite alot with Audi or audi parts as my contact is in the Audi classic world. Cool picture what a beast, I believe at the end before BR departed they went onto mobility or something bizarre like that but this council lock up is full of blocks and nos parts (not sure there will be any related VR6 stock) all the audi parts need to be moved first as physically cant walk in there.

My mate had a lovely one with with a six speed dogleg Gemma Motorsports gearbox and various engine mods- was a proper high revving racy engine- anyway kid purchased it off him at work and write it off after 2 weeks- he told him a few days after- anyways he rushed down the scrapers to try and get the engine and gearbox but the car had been flipping crushed .   19. Im hearing you loud and clear could be company vehicle claim back costs and cooler then a Transit ha. They do look good in white is that a Kamei lip spoiler to and an ultra rare none sunroof model ? What happened to the car = do you remember a firm called BR Motorsports) Warwickshire) Dox and the belated Brian Ricketts - I know who has all his stock and the chap(Midlander) that purchased it off the family after he passed away - has new Nothelle pistons - built up blocks you name it in a council lock up- that much stuff cant move in there- I m in ongoing talks with him to purchase it but he needs to get some stuff out the way first.

  22. Yeaks not sure why you would do this to a low miler Valver why not do it to a 1.3 and do an engine swap. Thanks for the initial heads up it was certainly worth a shot- I have been in contact with AKG in Germany to see if they would be doing a batch in the future but the lady said to call the next day but I never got round to it.
