  1. I would've listend to that radio show had I been there. Did anyone think the Sports Reader was a complete ***ker ? Fair play to talking down to that long-haired twit, but not for that reason.
  2. If some tool bombs up behind me with his fogs on on a nice sunny day, then I flip on the rear foglights. Well, Fogs are for poor visibility. So yeh, I do as Kev says too. although the last guy was nice about it and turned them off very quickly. So quick he flashed me for having the rear one on. Next came a National - bye bye t*sser !
  3. {shocked @ kevs big toe} f*k me Kev, I think my 16v would be wheezing at 120 and would've been blown away before that anyhow. Thats some motor you got there. I think we already touched on single-carriage dangers of overtakee speeding up - totally wrong. Fairly mind bending speeds (although its easy not to realise) there too kev - funny what you can get upto on the Autoban when visiting your parents in Germany , knowing you'd never do that here ;) Use your horn, thats what its there for - and it gives you an excuse to peep at the mindless Hoodies and watch them jump outta their skin.

RANT #2 Just tried Prvilege online and got a quote of about £400 TFP, out of curiosity I changed it to Fully Comp and did the update, to have the quote go cheaper by £9 ---- :cuckoo: ?
  5. why are you having problems, being in your 30's and all....... so try Norwich Union Direct, Tesco, etc etc
  6. veedub - be careful. You're using an abrasive - but why? You'd only need that to remove blemishes. It will cut into the gloss and wear it down; and it will wear down much quicker when using power tools rather than by hand. If you cut too far down you will have gone through the gloss and get down to paint. Once you've done this you can forget it. Rubbing down the paint will totally knacker a metalic paint. If you're lucky and you've just missed the paint by a few thou', then get it re-glossed. But thats assuming the gloss is damaged a small amount - it maybe the case that it is a film of grime on your car, as Furk is suggesting, hence the large use of fairy, which will cut through any oily substances. If you car is looking dull and you are certain theres lots of gloss left and there is no oily stuff, then you could cut it down a smidge, as you say you've done. As the gloss probably has lots of tiny scratches in it. Finish off by using a deep wax. To prevent those scratches, ensure you always use a decent spondge to clean the car. Avoid car washes and brushes. Wax as often as you can as this creates a protective barrier, that takes the brunt of tiny scratches caused by everyday use. I'd only use that mechanical buffer once a year. ;)
  7. knowing the long serving parts man by first name, from simply buying so many parts over the last 15 years helps; I think we're getting 1.5 percent .Added each year, lol, 8)
  8. 1. Kerrang + Traffic Updates. But mostly resort to a CD, which often gets drowned out once onto the motorway.
  9. Talc, classic site. SHEEP has got to be a big pet peeve too. Only yesterday I was stupid enough to brave Mondays big down pour to take the bike for a service. On the way back I was getting a good move on and popping back into lane 2 to allow Mr 4x4 past, but he never did, so gave me a nice big cushion to pop back infront over for the next 30 mile. Whilst using the 2nd lane from time to time, I came across a few cars that were in ln 2, but sped up just when I had moved out into lane 3 to pass - thankfully a quick twist of the grip means you go past them anyhow; regardless of thier quest for the nearest bumper to follow.
  10. Got another cracking story today. Followed a long line of traffic. The Polo ahead was tailgating the car infront of her, whilst weaving into the gutter at times, but worst of all she was hitting the brakes every 5 seconds due to her close proximity. I sat well back until the duel-c came up and so I overtook, but fatty was still acting the nooob, so I looked at her and she was smoking a fag. Either way she was driving like a loon, so I shook my head and booted off ahead. Later on she catches me up, coming upto a roundabout. Hmmm, interesting, is she going to overtake me on this roundabout, cos Im going to take this at a good lick. Erm, no ----- arrhhhhh no, Fatty has sped past me and then cut across my nose and yanked her brakes on hard. I gave a long sound of my horn, knowing full well she had done that on purpose, as the island was empty. She almost hit my C Had I not broke & crashed, surely I would have no proof it was her wrekless fault and thus be put to blame come an insurance claim?!?!! All cos Fatty was so busy having a fag (and whatever else she was doing) whilst tailgating and acting the loon and got pizzled off cos some lad in some old vw had driven past and given a look of dispair. What was her Goal ??? Next roundabout I was gone , a mere spec on the horizon.
  11. Think my whole thread started there ssstuff. And your last idea maybe true; although Im sure the proper thing to do is just sit back and keep letting people in. I personally avoid having people come past me by my driving style - I'll sit way back then boot it round the last corner looking for an overtake opportunity, if none are to be had, then I ease off again - the person behind cannot overtake either due to the same hazard ahead. He can clearly see Im trying the same overtake that he is. Although I must says it rare for people to do much overtaking where I live. Should it be that one rainy misserable day (or sunny) that I do NOT feel like overtaking, then Im more than happy to sit back and let Mr Jag/TVR/Aston overtake me - because he is just as likely to keep overtaking the rest of the que too.
  12. Got my renewal through and it was up by £7, yet I've earned another years ncd, with NUD. So used one of those search engines and they came up with a great range of blaggers, starting at £1,100/yr and the cheapest being NUD again, but £70 less than my renewal... w**kers
  13. quicky, what are your requirements? - which is more comfortable - which do you like the look of most - does money matter to you - which is most reliable, does that matter? - what will it be used for? - what condition is each car in? - has one got mega miles on it and due to die? Obviously many people here will say Corrado, because we like them for one reason or another. Be it the better looks over a boxy Golf, or whatever. However I know some people complain that the C is uncomfortable, especially if you're tall, so if you intend to drive this a long way every day, then the Golf has got to be a more comfy car. If money is a factor, which it often is - otherwise you'd go buy a R32 or somthing - then you decide which is cheapest to run. For all we know you've just spent £100's on the Golf, replacing bits like the exhaust, and it wont need any more work doing for another 5 years........ dont know - YOU tell us. If you create a list of cost items (without prices if u like), I'd/we be happy to look, add and comment. I had a Mk2 Golf that had an engine that sounded like new and would easily do another 100k. However this C just has more spirit for me - imo 8)
  14. Exactly and you'll be changing the diameter of the whole-wheel size; thus your speedo will read different, not that you'll notice.
  15. ET was discussed at length here CLICK Dont forget the wider wheel means a wider tyre and probably higher replacement costs (if £ is an issue); common 205's fit well on a 7j wheel, but a wider wheel (as you suggest) I'd want a wider tyre IMO and a well know fella on here said: I'd tend to agree with him.
  16. oh dear, have you got a rotten C? I think my C has cost me about £400 in maintenance. + fuel for wherever you want to go (thousands of miles opposed to a few) + £500 of ins/mot/tax ; and I expect to hardly loose a penny when I sell it; not forgetting the majority of cost would be incurred to buy a runner to get to work anyhow. Theres no vet bills, no stable costs, food every week - how much does a horse cost? Im sure devilfish was only joking (in part). PMSL
  17. you're going to get loads of helpful views morph, but on my 40mm drop with 7j wheels, they rubbed ever so slightly, you could see the scuff within the arch, from full-lock rub. Now with 7j's on standard height (0mm) and there is no rubbing. Maybe the correct Offset would avoid this and allow bigger/wider wheels still...

Thats about it Shag, keep your mum on there and maybe consider the Advanced Motorist thing that may save you 10%, if you've got time. But the biggest saver is age/experience and NCD. So come 25, it will drop massively. Dont cry mommy just yet, as that sounds cheap for Fully Comp, at only £650/yr. I think I paid that at age 24 for TPFT - so tihnk your self well off. YES those a***es are day-light robbers. My renewal quotes are often poo and most years I have to go back as a new customer. Last year Norwich Union Direct refused me as a new customer, saying they had me down on thier system and I had to bend over and take thier renewal quote up my **** later on I used Confused dot com (one of many ins search engines) and the quote became £90 cheaper. I moved house up the road, they added £40. I moved back to my old address and it didnt come down in price - funny, real funny.
  19. jenks its up to you. But I found that a 195 tyre on a 7" wide wheel means the corners are rounded off, whereas the 205's felt much much better. I'd say a 195, although it fits many widths, is best for a 6.5j - imo LOVE those wheels - how lucky are you
  20. You'd hate them even more if you rode a bike. Have you seen those Freddy Crueger spikes that stick out the back? - I've heard a few horror stories of bikers being impailed. A car would never be allowed such dangerous protrusions, so why can't tractors put a big guard over the nasty bits? Secondly they're a b*gger for dropping big mounds of dirt. Although it is thier responsibility to clear it up and also provide signs for loose debri, sometimes they don't - hence I dont hesitate to report them. As for thankyou waves for letting people through, Ive given up expecting one. Too many rude people in Warwickshire. They dont even realise who has right-of-way, so if you've given way they should certainly say thanks but often dont. Im in the mind to stop doing it, as the other day I found that the traffic was so slow to get through the gap that New traffic appread and came through too - so when I came bumper to bumper with the final guy, I felt my blood pressure rising. Oh and how about you're coming along a road and there is a parked car on the opposite side, say 200yds up the road, but you see an on coming car thats about 200 or even 300yds from the vehicle/obstruction and they come hurtling through anyhow. - These are often women in 4x4's or White Vans. I had one just at the weekend whereby coming upto a T-junction. There was parked traffic on the otehrside. Yet when Mr Jag came into the minor road, he ignored me and pushed through - must have been mm's - so to make a big point of it I came to a stop; and when he came alongside he was shouting - does he not realise he should've come round the corner slow enough to stop when he came to an obstruction on his side of the road??????? W***er !! --- rant over
  21. What a kettle of fish to open. Bit of a mixed bag in my mind. Yep the horses were here first, but they havn't moved with the times; people dont drive as slow as they once did. However its quite simple, you have to be able to stop within the distance you can see - so there should be no troubles at all. However, I must say my slow trundle past horses are a timid one. Those beauties are huge and could easily kill me and my car/bike. Why am I timid - two reasons really; first off its totally the car drivers fault if his car get mashed, as the rider is not ever to blame by past cases/law - which sounds ultra unfair. I should know, as a good friend of mine has been into horses for donkeys of years and once told of how another rider had clipped his car when he drove past at 5mph, and he couldnt claim a penny. And Im sure scarlett would agree that the rider should be in control. Just the oterh day I saw a horse fail to stop at a redlight on a busy cross roads; he pulled at the reigns with no such luck, as the horse proceeded to mount the pavement and carry on. Thankfully no pedestrian in sight. Our local roads are a mixed bag. The slower tight roads are fine; but the open roads are not a plce I'd ride my mountainbike, and would think that horse riders would have the same sense - especially as seen as there is a bridal-way close by. I just hope boyracer doesnt come round the corner as Im doing 5mph past a horse - its an accident waiting to happen - simply because there are too many inconsiderate boyracers out there. . if only
  22. badly phrased on my behalf, as you're right. Just refering to his comments really on the VW, farsical considering his love for Volvo. He seemed really disapointed to not have the chance to crush it. All the others looked like Chavs and gave loadsa back-chat. The tyre slashers mate almost talked his way into more trouble too, pmsl
  23. Not another 4x4 woman driver; not expecting kids too next are yu, But seriously scarlett, my mates Discovery is always providing problematic. I understand its common for the boot door to go rusty on some models. On his version the cam belt keeps slipping, which is common. Those Shoguns seem like tanks - the better buy maybe
  24. There you go, I think you answered your own question. Im fully for some hard hitting tactics and that includes VW's too. Just thought it funny how they picked on a rusty Scirocco to only find that nothing illegal had gone on, as far as they knew - aslong as the owner didnt drive it about - which I hope he didn't. Personally I'd declare sorn on his car, restore it, then get the MOT + insurance + tax etc. So maybe he was a sumbag. As you say - crushing doesnt seem the most enviromentally friendly way to go - but certainly seems shocking !! Im sure someone would've bought that Sc at an auction as you suggest.
